  • This will be the first in a series of installments aimed at fixing things that need to be fixed. For this video, I wanted to revist the Academy 1/35 Early Hetzer by adding some pigments by Mig and AK Interactive to the underside of the model to tie in the effects on the rest of the tank.
For this I used a combination of Tamiya X-20A and Ammo Pigment Fixer for the application.

Hi Jim, great video! A question I have is, do you seal the bottom with and kind of matte enamel afterwards to protect the pigments from chipping? I'm still very new to this so please forgive the newbie question.

Excellent video. Cleared a lot of my doubts. Funny thing is while i started brushing thinner x20a like you did but the paint came off immediately. Maybe because I used the same thinner to paint (tamiya)? IDK. Should I "seal" it with varnish first next time? Gladly is the bottom and applying a good amount of pigment covered everything.

Yes it was. Specially the use of the wet layer first.

    Hey Jim, 2 quick things
    1. The way you have your brushes resting on their bristles is giving me the heebie-jeebies. Stop that! You'll destroy them!
    2. I find a much more realistic effect on the front and rear lower hull is to splatter the pigments on. I mix them with thinner and flick them on. The method you show on your video works good for the hill sides and wheels, but to me, a splattered effect looks better on the front and rear.
    3. I am loving your videos

Don't worry. Those are cheap brushes for cheap things
