As the creator(Or more aptly thief and editor of More Trouble) of the More Zombie submod; Yeah it'll do that to Balmora. :P And I wasn't even using OpenMW, which from the brief snippet showed by you does fix base MW's issue of only being able to have a certain number of enemies aggro'd at one time because only like 8-10 or so would attack while the rest just chill out. No doubt this made it even MORE laggy for you. Great vid!
@@Marcara081 I think the main issue is that NPC rendering in Morrowind is very expensive because of how the models are built. It's one of the reasons later Bethesda games cut down on the number of equipable slots. Morrowind can make more raw draw calls in a scene than a game like Cyberpunk 2077 does. OpenMW improves things for static meshes via object paging significantly (which is why you can get Distant Land for nearly free in it) but there's not as easy a solution for NPCs.
The underwater healing to keep from dying thing reminded me of this manga called Cleavatess One of the main characters is a woman hero who got forcibly resurrected after being killed by a demon to help raise (or at least keep alive) the last heir of a kingdom the demon destroyed. She’s still technically dead, but is kept “alive” through the demon’s blood that it used to resurrect her. Thing is, the blood won’t let her die as long as the demon wills it and in one part, she needs to retrieve a sword from the bottom of a flooded mine, so she hides in a barrel to sink to the bottom to avoid the things in the water that killed the sword’s original owner. However, she’s constantly feeling the agony of drowning and has to force herself to ignore the involuntary panic from the lack of air, the feeling of drowning and self preservation drive to get back to the surface as she sinks to the bottom. Pretty wild
I miss Micky D... The first video of his I watched was about this mod, it was so intriguing, especially because he ended up killing Divayth Fyr, the only man who could potentially stop the Corprus plague, I had no idea at the time, but the comments blasted his ass over it. it was so cool I actually played Morrowind for the first time because of it, just to find out why people were upset about him killing Divayth Fyr in that mod.
33:26 I think adding railings to the walkway and bridge so you actually have to fight Dagoth Ur for a minute instead of just jumping off and going straight for the heart, or convincing him to jump off into the lava would go a long way towards making the fight actually challenging. Though, as is the way in Morrowind, there's only so much you can do to make it more difficult without just making it frustrating due to the limitations of the game engine.
I'd do a lattice wall to the pathway down, and safety rails for the bridge, this is Morrowind, anything short of a straight up wall will not stop people from jumping down
you dont wanna go to the mall or hospital for zombie apocalypse, those places are usually the worst. Best solution would be a big store with gardening equipment and building tools, usually not something people think of first, you get plenty of makeshift weapons, generally have multiple water sorces and before water systems are cut off you have "infinite" number of water containers around. The only downside is not having a ton of food (before you attempt on growing some) but at the end of the day it's an issue with most places.
I honestly think modern day a mall would be a good idea just because of how few people actually go to malls nowadays and how they are slowly shutting down.
Has anyone pointed out yet that JBN has an item called, 'Open Skirt'? 'Here, I got you this: the Open Skirt!' 'What does it do?' 'It opens doors!' 'I bet it does...'
I remember MickyD tried this a few years ago. It seemed like an awesome mod. Miss that guy but other awesome Elder Scrolls channels still exist like this one.
22:24 Something about hearing the Lion's Pride Inn playing in the background while you sail through the air in a zombie apocalypse is hilarious and somehow fitting.
@@JustBackgroundNoise I agree. Brill's Tavern music is great ambiance, but it's not exactly great to listen to on its own. Besides, Lion's Pride Inn sounds vaguely Benny Hill-ish in areas outside of its context--naked night elves giving out lap dances.
Man, honestly, your "head-canon lore" adds a lot of depth to miscellaneous mechanics and other oddities, truly amazing, and sometimes they make more sense than "real" lore.
Love your content, was also super confused when I saw the manscaped link in the description, and that was hands-down the best "please subscribe" message I've ever seen. 10/10 as always JBN
34:02 I think it's very much feasible. Add global value for a counter which tell how many "hits" you have to do, aka how many times you have to kill "Daggoth Ur" in total before you can finally destroy it. You hide the real heart, "tick the hidden by default -flag", add a "fake heart" on top of it, and add a script to it, that when hit, it creates a visual like fire shield around it, which only goes away when you kill "Daggoth Ur" (e.g. magic with constant effect that gets added/removed), and reduce the counter by one and resurrect Daggoth Ur, it keeps doing that until the counter hits zero, upon which point it replaces the fake heart with the real one. As for the bringing the other Daggoth's back to life, you can just add copies to the heart chamber that are disabled by default, and then have them be enabled, when ever their counter part is killed, or you enable them between the heart strikes or something. You could even add functionality that killing the other Daggoths reduces the strike counter before the fight. Morrowind's scripting is VERY limited in functionality, e.g. it's near impossible to create an NPC that would protect you specifically against the dark brotherhood assassins, and nothing else (like a house guard), but that specific one is very much doable.
I forget sometimes that this used to be a more RuneScape focused channel but then the background noise kicks in. You are a magnificent artist and person. Thank you.
it honestly keeps surprising me that you only havee 97k subs - the quality of your videos always makes me think at least 300k and personally you have filled that void of can you beat videos that the late mitten squad once did for me
If you want the final part of morrowind to be an actual dungeon, please try Darknut's Greater Dwemer Ruins, you can find it at the Nexus, and it is grand. Try it one time. You won't regret it.
also, 7:37 - it still upsets me that Bethesda removed pretty much all forms of Swim-Fighting by the time Skyrim came out...no melee, no archery, not even magic besides 'lingering' effects like the Elemental Cloaks...thankfully, theyve also cut down on the sheer number of aquatic threats (like Slaughterfish), but its still annoying having to find a shallow-enough spot to stand in order to defend yourself...
The duality of a disaster. People loot guns, weapons, ,most foods and medical supplies... so in the case of zombies, it means the highest concentrations are near publicly known useful supplies... so the question is it worth risking everything for something someone may have already looted?
First a 4 hour Garry's Mod compilation from The Librarian, a new Dean of Doom episode, that Symphony of the Night review from Civvie 11, and now this. What a red-letter Halloween!

21:50 I had a cat that looked just like yours until December of I think 2020 when he passed away. He was the sweetest, most friendly, cat I ever had the privilege of knowing. He loved absolutely everyone. Family and strangers alike. Aside from when he temporarily moved house and regressed to instinctual impulses like bullying the oldest cat of that household who he had known for years before going to live alone in another home. He'd obviously forgotten or was just so stressed out that he couldn't properly perceive him as friend rather than foe. I don't blame him for that. That's a dumb wild instinct thing. Keep that in mind if you ever move your cat into another house already occupied by other cats.
I had no idea that this game had basically officially produced mods from Bethesda uploaded for free for anyone to add to their game. This game came out in 2002 and the "plugins" were released in 2013. I can't believe these are real.
The definition of art is actually just "Anything created by human ingenuity or ability". So even a table created purely for functional reasons is still 'art'. People just need to expand their conception of art to not be so narrow minded in general.

I dunno how fun it would be, but your comment about the spelltomes made me realize that there's definitely room for a Mage Playthrough that only uses the spells sold by vendors, no spellmaking. Just a thought. Enjoying the content as always!
One thing I think the mod creator could have done better is adding more Sixth House enemies to the mix. Corprus only turned non-Dunmer into bloated zombies, the Dunmer got to slowly turn into noodlesnoots.
I forgot to say before but you are a dorky dude and your sponsorship and cadence/mannerisms are really fun. I really like your content. I think if i was making yt i would have a similar vibe. your content resonates with me and I appreciate you for it. Thanks man.
I don't know what it is about old-school video game zombies, whether it be the chunkier models, stiffer animations, the ai, idk what, but they creep me out so much more than zombies in modern games.
The nickname FalloutWind makes me think of the story "Where the wind blows" a very sad story about a nuclear bomb being dropped on England and the effects it has on a lowly couple of folks. It's beautifully done in both visual novel and movie style and is free to watch on TH-cam due to its age. I wrote a short story inspired by it of the same name.
I freaking love your videos man. I love your attention to detail and I love when you make asides to talk about the deeper elder scrolls lore. It really scratches a special itch in my brain.
Fun fact about Restore Magicka, it works the exact same way in Oblivion, except it increases your base regeneration by the amount the enchant/spell does. The only downside, the Magic Effect isnt flagged for player use and mainly there for Restore Magicka Potions. With the Construction Set or xEdit, you can change that though. It's busted as hell though since oblivion *does* have auto restoring magicka. Another fun fact about Oblivions magicka regeneration, despite being based on Willpower it's not the only factor. So even getting your Willpower reduced to 0 *won't* make Magicka stop regenerating. It just takes 133 Seconds to do so. Its a whole thing and the exact formulas for the Willpower vs Intelligence (Regeneration Rate vs larger Pool) is on the UESP; But with maximized fortify magicka enchantments on all gear, an Apprentice (birthsign) High Elf (race) not only takes ~250% elemental magic damage (doesnt really matter once you have 100% spell absorption either through gear or spells), they do get the benefit of 23.4 points/second Magicka Regen in a 850 Magicka Pool with maxed out Stats and fortify magicka enchantments. This is about 36 seconds to full magicka which does coincide with.... Fun Fact #3 about Oblivion Magicka Regeneration: 100 Willpower makes it so *any* magicka pool will regenerate in 36 seconds, regardless of how large the pool is. Can be 100, 1000, probably even 50000 total magicka, it'll always take 36 seconds at 100 Willpower. Fortifications beyond 100 *do* increase the rate and subsequently reduce the time needed to regenerate, of course. But most Fortify Magicka *enchantments* (sigil stones) are stronger in comparison. Lore accurate as to why High Elves are actually feared the way they are? In my Bethesda Software game? Impossible. That's why they shrunk High Elves down in Skyrim. To make them more approachable? Either way, play a High Elf Female in Oblivion and the only way people look down on you is if they are standing on a stepping stool or staircase, you actively look down on guards who reach barely your shoulder height. A full grown tall man. Even Nords only reach roughly to or below your chin. No wonder Altmer have a superiority complex. If we take spellmaking into account.... well... there's spells that you can make that cost nothing and restore + regenerate your magicka faster. (Some spell chain/loop with Drain Intelligence, Drain magicka, Fortify Intelligence, Fortify Magicka & Fortify Willpower) Spend magic to make stronger and more plentiful magic faster? Yeah, that's why they took spellmaking out of Skyrim, isnt it? :p You dont just start out by drinking vegetable soup and become *Death, Destroyer of Broadspectrum Marketable Game Design*. I love Morrowind and Oblivion. So so broken in so so many ways. Yet oddly balanced in other respects. I love Skyrim, too. Just not as much, since I know the intricacies of the older games and their drawbacks
Re 5:58: The irony about the 'Gold (and Silver) are the only real currency and paper money is worthless' cult is that they completely misunderstand why Gold was used as a currency in the first place. It had no inherent value other than looking nice. What made it good for coinage though, was that it's a very distinctive metal that is easy to cold-forge and can easily be melted, it's not very reactive and doesn't tarnish, has a very distinct weight difference to anything that looks similar and is thus easily verified according to pre-weighted scales, is rare enough to have an easily controlled supply of and very importantly, *doesn't actually have much use out of luxury goods and currency*, making it a good exchange medium for the things that do find use. It also lead to Gold being useful for high value and international trade, and the value fluctuations were mitigated by it's use as a luxury. The entire point of Gold as a currency was it's *perceived* value in combination with it's uniqueness as a social construct, the very thing people criticize about modern fiat currency. But it was also a fairly volatile currency. There is a reason why the Gold standard only really existed for around 100 years. The main currency throughout history was actually Silver. Silver was used for a similar but slightly different reason. Silver is very abundant, making it something that can be easily accessed anywhere and thus facilitating trade across borders and distances as well as making it a stable domestic currency able to facilitate small denomination trade. Just like Gold, it's easy to cold forge and stamp. It is also fairly distinctive, so again, just like Gold, you can set a good standardized weight measure of value and it's hard to fake. Meanwhile, what was the price of silver often backed against? Grains and tool-metal. Because throughout history and throughout the world, various grains were where the 'real' value that many proponents of Gold espouse lies. Because you can't use Gold or Silver to eat. You can't make a hoe or a scythe out of it. You can't build with it. You can't use it as seedstock to sow a field. You can't use it to maintain livestock in the Winter. More importantly, controlling the food supply was an important part of feudal and pre-feudal governance, because it allows for solid seasonal planning and insurance against natural disasters. So you take the grain, and you give out the metal in exchange. So what happens in the apocalypse where you don't have a use for these metals anymore? They become useless. I think the Metro games showcased a good example of what a post-collapse currency would look like. They trade in Bullets. Because Bullets keep you alive. The funny thing is that in modern times, Gold has actually gained real material value due to it's use in electronics. So it has more 'real' value today than it ever had when it was a currency. Disclaimer: I'm just some guy on the internet. If this topic interests you, do your own research.
I didn't know about this mod and am now very interested in finally getting a second install of OpenMW to run it! Thanks for covering it! On a side note because I love being pedantic on the internet, the Marxist LToV doesn't stipulate that all value (use or exchange) comes from labor or labor power. Gifts of nature (natural resources) do absolutely have value on their own, but labor almost always adds to it - seeds of edible plants have value all on their own (although of course the exchange value is increased by the labor in collecting those seeds), but it is much lower than a grown and possibly refined crop that had to be planted, watered, harvested, etc via labor. The only utility in reading this mess of a TH-cam comment is knowing that when an anti-communist (often academic) cites the Labor Theory of Value as nonsensical for this or that reason, usually they haven't even read the first few chapters of Capital and have no clue what Marxists actually claim
I want to say thank you mister Background Noise. Because of yours videos I finally beat Morrowind, after many unsuccessful tries. Keep it up and good luck
7:00(ish) - would a Graveyard actually be a safe bet during a Zombie outbreak? sure, zombies might not want to "go to" a graveyard, if theyre looking for Living flesh, but if you are alive and go to a graveyard, then youve saved the zombies a bunch of money by Delivering their food to their place...no -Door- DeadDash needed-- no driver begging for tips, AND it arrives fresh...
I guess it depends what kind of zombies we're working with. Can long-dead corpses come back to life or is it only people who die after being infected? Return of the Living Dead or Dawn of the Dead?
Do you not understand that the cruel part of making animal products isn’t when somebody eats them? Tons of non-food items are made with animal parts, including shampoo etc. I’m not even a vegan, but I understand that it’s not just a diet lmao, it’s about reducing harm to animals and not just the ones we eat. Weird comment.
@@GuntWastelander Do you not understand the cruel part of making jokes isn't when people laugh? Tons of jokes are made with love, including youtube comments. I am not even a comedian, but I understand that it's not just laughter lmao, it's also about people who get upset because they can't handle a joke. Weird Comment. Heh. You make a good crappy pasta format.
13:07 I don't think that's true though, in fact it's the opposite. Premade spells provided by the game always cost less magicka then the same spell made in the spellcrafting system, and this severely hamstrings creativity since the mana efficiency is too big of a deal to pass up unless you're the kind of person who fights 3 enemies then goes to sleep for 17 hours which is something I always found to be super weird and uncomfortable from a game logic perspective, so I would largely only rest in towns unless I absolutely needed to and have to make magicka reserves last as long as possible.
If I had the modding powers of Akatosh himself I would make that giant brass titan the final boss. Like a Metal Gear, but with an even more obvious weak point!
You know I have always wondered if Dagoth Ur won how would he have coped with the Oblivion crisis? Would Dagoth even later be able to take down Alduin when he returns?
The Mythic Dawn probably wouldn't hold out too long against the blight. Dagoth Ur would probably infect the emperor before they could get to him. I wonder if a Corprus-Emperor could relight the dragonfires.
@@JustBackgroundNoise wasn't there something in lore that mentioned that the ash storms summoned by dagoth ur couldn't reach the mainland? if thats the case im not sure how much the blight would spread past vardenfell
If Dagoth Ur won it's implied (by some of the metaphysics stuff partially in the lore and partially in the crazy mind of Kirkbride) his interpretation of negative CHIM or warped zero sum would infect all of reality and cause it to warp colossally or even cease to exist altogether
@@cranberrysauce61 Maybe. Since the Blight's starting point is Akulakhan, I imagine if it was finished and could leave Red Mountain the Blight would spread much farther.
I just discovered your channel and have been binge watching your content. You're a GREAT content creator and I love everything you put out! Thanks for showing Morrowind some love, brings back memories from when I saved my allowance and bought an Xbox and would go back and forth with my friends at school as to whose Nerevarine was the strongest.
My nerevarine could beat yours!!! No joke though, I feel that Bong Water the Redguard could squeeze a person's brain out of their skull like a fucking pimple with the amount of super steroids made with alchemy and the old OG morrowind soul trap + increase attribute spell exploit he did in his life.
I remember this one. I had it with Sixth House overhaul, 0 stats, hardcore, and Ashfall. It was fucking BRUTAL! Getting a conjured weapon of any variety is absolutely essential so you can actually hit anything. Thus beginneth the grind...
For the random loot (that restore magicka 1pt chest) I found that the standard zombies from beginning drop quite a bit of those items. There seems to not be any level or value restrictions. Personally done fireball with massive aoe killing those weaker guys in 1 shot. Also those items are often in chests and barrels etc. Also some armor vendors seem to now have adamantite armor set hidden in shops Maybe a bit immersion breaking but fun nonetheless
I love your videos so much dude, you’re my fave TH-camr and I hope you keep making Morrowind videos for a long time! I know Tamriel Rebuilt isn’t finished, but I’d love to see you make a video with anything from that overhaul mod!
I wanna say how cool it is for manscaped to do this sponsor like this. Theyre still happy to sponsor someone who cant use the majority of the products , they just take the chance to push forward their other products. Idk just seems nice of them.
This was really neat to see. I remember seeing some one-off streams of this mod years and years ago and totally forgot about it until now. Kinda reminds me of Fallout Dust for FNV, which I also played pretty recently on a whim. There's something about total conversion mods like these that I really like, when the whole game is re-contextualized. Dust or Frost for FO4 would be neat to see on the channel if you ever decided to crack those content barrels open.
12:16 I think it's art because it's a performance, all the worlds a stage and such. That's the reason why I like how Karl Jobst calls his viewers, "absolute legends"
I fully agree on the conversation about the nature of art. Art is a thing we make by virtue of spending the time and effort on it. It doesn't have to be good art or even say anything to be art.
Hey JBN, im just dropping by to say that i found you through a recommendation after watching Joov, and I've quickly become a big fan, and you actually got me interested in finally giving Morrowind a proper try
I remember having so much fun with a gun mod that added really well-textured guns and sound effects to the game and it was HILARIOUS just blasting people away (they did ridiculous damage). That mod combined with this mod would be so fun. It would basically be Morrowind: Zombie Shooter Edition 😂
I knew it, lifting weights is art confirmed. The barbell is my brush, the program is my canvas, I will paint a masterpiece of bodily form and function.
So about that spelltome bug - I think it's inherent to Morrowind's engine. Some mods add books that teach spells, and I did have a game crash on me once when trying to read such a book from the inventory (basegame, not OpenMW)
It might seem silly but I listen to your channel when I am doing laundry and cleaning at home and my place is way more wholesome as a result. Cheers man.
TODD, please! Listen to me, Todd! I understand you're into female Khajiit, but they're not real, dude!!! Don't think we din't noticed Ahnassi as the only real relationship character you can have in the game, or the naked "Pretty Kitty" in your developer's test room, or to give flowers to Ajira as a mission to the Mages Guild. Just stop, man!!! Stop scrolling down Rule34 with Khajiit tag on. There are real, pretty women out there that are also into the "cat furry" stuff, you just don't have to be a creepy weirdo! Cool mod! Frankly I’d have been ecstatic if it went even further with writing new dialogue, altering locations, making a new story path, etc. But that’d be more “heroically creating 1/2 of a new game” than an “overhaul mod”, so I understand why they stopped where they did.

The underwater healing to keep from dying thing reminded me of this manga called Cleavatess
One of the main characters is a woman hero who got forcibly resurrected after being killed by a demon to help raise (or at least keep alive) the last heir of a kingdom the demon destroyed.

I watched plenty of his videos, did Micky leave youtube? I feel like a video came out not too long ago, unless that christian mod vid was an old one

I'd do a lattice wall to the pathway down, and safety rails for the bridge, this is Morrowind, anything short of a straight up wall will not stop people from jumping down
@@syrelian Haha, true, even a full blown wall can be little more than a suggestion depending on just how broken the character in question is 😆

"Beware the Sixth House" is compatible with this mod, it's actually even listed as a recommendation for anyone who wants a truly hardcore experience.
you dont wanna go to the mall or hospital for zombie apocalypse, those places are usually the worst.
A home depot would be perfect
@@AbstractTraitorHeroman that's kind of sad

22:24 Something about hearing the Lion's Pride Inn playing in the background while you sail through the air in a zombie apocalypse is hilarious and somehow fitting.
I was gonna use the Brill Tavern track, but it was a bit _too_ shrill for background music.
I think my favorite bit of fanfiction is that the Nerevarine is an Argonian in a Colovian fur helm.
Man, honestly, your "head-canon lore" adds a lot of depth to miscellaneous mechanics and other oddities, truly amazing, and sometimes they make more sense than "real" lore.

Thank you.
Making all the normally interesting NPCs also unique in the mod is crazy.

also, 7:37 - it still upsets me that Bethesda removed pretty much all forms of Swim-Fighting by the time Skyrim came out...no melee, no archery, not even magic besides 'lingering' effects like the Elemental Cloaks...thankfully, theyve also cut down on the sheer number of aquatic threats (like Slaughterfish), but its still annoying having to find a shallow-enough spot to stand in order to defend yourself...
Left 4 Dead has taught me all my zombie survival instincts, and the first places to avoid are hospitals and malls.
Thats where all the good shit is DayZ. The most heavily infested and dangerous places.
The duality of a disaster. People loot guns, weapons, ,most foods and medical supplies... so in the case of zombies, it means the highest concentrations are near publicly known useful supplies... so the question is it worth risking everything for something someone may have already looted?

Aside from when he temporarily moved house and regressed to instinctual impulses like bullying the oldest cat of that household who he had known for years before going to live alone in another home. He'd obviously forgotten or was just so stressed out that he couldn't properly perceive him as friend rather than foe. I don't blame him for that. That's a dumb wild instinct thing. Keep that in mind if you ever move your cat into another house already occupied by other cats.

I wrote a short story inspired by it of the same name.
oughh jesus christ that movie is so sad
Ah, but the real one was brown... RIP London. Can't wait for the Boomers to be over so real action can happen.
Really neat mod and concept, reminds me a little of fallout DUST with the post bad-ending setting
Its a whole thing and the exact formulas for the Willpower vs Intelligence (Regeneration Rate vs larger Pool) is on the UESP;
But with maximized fortify magicka enchantments on all gear, an Apprentice (birthsign) High Elf (race) not only takes ~250% elemental magic damage (doesnt really matter once you have 100% spell absorption either through gear or spells), they do get the benefit of 23.4 points/second Magicka Regen in a 850 Magicka Pool with maxed out Stats and fortify magicka enchantments.
(Some spell chain/loop with Drain Intelligence, Drain magicka, Fortify Intelligence, Fortify Magicka & Fortify Willpower)
Spend magic to make stronger and more plentiful magic faster? Yeah, that's why they took spellmaking out of Skyrim, isnt it? :p
You dont just start out by drinking vegetable soup and become *Death, Destroyer of Broadspectrum Marketable Game Design*.
I love Morrowind and Oblivion. So so broken in so so many ways. Yet oddly balanced in other respects. I love Skyrim, too. Just not as much, since I know the intricacies of the older games and their drawbacks

Re 5:58:
The irony about the 'Gold (and Silver) are the only real currency and paper money is worthless' cult is that they completely misunderstand why Gold was used as a currency in the first place.
