It took me many years to finally love this game. As a kid, I always found the game frustrating. But then one day, after a horrible day at school, I took my frustrations out on this game, basically winging a lot of it, and somehow I beat it with Rank D. Not the best, but pretty good for 6 year old me at the time. So for the next 15 years, every time I play it, the game gets better and better. I learn more about the mansion, I got more invested with collecting stuff, watering the plants, learning about portrait ghost ranks, and after 19 years as of today, I finally gold ranked every portrait ghost, and got Rank A mansion. It was satisfying to finally realize how much I love this game. What used to be my 10th favorite Mario game, is now like in my Top 5 favorites. I remember loving this game and how much I was such a dork over it, that I made a whole theory on King Boo and Bowser. And then seeing I’m not the only one who loves this game, even seeing this entire speed-run, makes me smile. Now the game is so loved over the years, that it got two sequels. Luigi got it good when he saved his brother that very night, and sure came a long way. This is great example of a game that aged like fine wine. I also can’t wait for the Extra Tangy version of this game!!!
sorry to be so offtopic but does anyone know a tool to log back into an instagram account? I was stupid forgot the password. I love any tricks you can give me
Hey listen I've watched many speed runs and out of all of them this is the most impressive one I've seen yet. When you fought the third boss I was blinking in shock on how easy you made it look. You're exceptional, and for someone who is speed running my favorite game is a lot. Great job and wow what a run!
This almost makes me want to make an explanation script for this speedrun, this is one of my favourite games and to see it have a speedrun is just fantastic. Totally astounded at the level of precision with this, it's just.....amazing Awesome work, and glad to see it's still the world record
Wow you’ve must have been keeping up with this game for ages, I only started right around when the WR was a 58. It was always awesome to have you around in the chat during my PowerPoint streams:)
I appreciate that! I have plenty more LM pb’s to upload (each upload takes about 8 hours on my end) but in the meantime I’ve learned 1/0 star in SM64 and Mario Sunshine which I may stream in the future.
You're incredible man. I struggled hard to get my 1:25 and here you are lol. Although, it seems a big time save I can make is in better captures. Your wardrobe room, for instance, is 6 seconds faster than mine probably mostly from capturing the ghosts and grabbing the key.
That has got to be the fastest speedrun of Luigi's mansion I ever seen. Especially how you defeat Boolossus so fast in under a minute. You are so awesome 😎 you got the skills of a Meta Runner
this game is so much better than luigi mansion 3 its a joke i should say ALOT of elements in this game are better but the game as a whole is. The music, the gameplay, the ambiance, everything was just so unique.
As a completionist who plays this game always trying to get as much money as possible instead of the best time, watching you purposefully miss pearls, gold mice, speedy specters, houseplants, and gem spots gives me _conniptions._ The gold mouse ghost you frickin' _deleted_ in the Sealed Room in particular made me want to tear my own hair out and eat it. I sometimes have to painstakingly circle through that room a dozen times before I can get that little asshole to spawn and you just _Thanos snapped him._ While I understand skipping money spots that only drop their cash based on RNG, personally, if it was me running the game, I'm not sure I'd consider it 100% if I didn't at least get all the gems, pearls, and gold frames. I'd probably even go as far as to include the Gold Mice/Speedy Specters that don't drop gems, but that might be pushing it. But then again, I'm not a runner, so... Nevertheless, the sheer _speed_ of this run is damn impressive. I mean, Jesus. I remember having a strategy guide waaaay back when I first got this game back in 2001 that boasted their best time of _2 hours and 32 minutes._ This run is freaking nuts. I gotta ask how you suck up the portrait ghosts and boos so fast? Even when I play on Hidden Mansion I can't suck the ghosts with that degree of speed using my current methods, and I often have to reset a few times on harder ghosts like Sir Weston and the White Gem ghosts. I notice you waving the Poltergust in a very specific manner, at least when fighting boos (rapidly switching from blow to suck over and over?) but I still can't figure out how you're doing portrait ghosts. And it baffles me how you're managing to keep the later boos from ducking into other rooms by seemingly stunlocking them and/or getting them to change direction on command. (Also, your defeat of Boolossus makes me want to _fucking kill myself._ I've been doing it the hard way this whole goddamn time and he's always been the ghost that's given me the most trouble when trying for all gold frames.)
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this:) To answer a few of your questions such as the boo manipulation; it’s a strat known as R-Pumping which is used to keep the boos in place during damage. As for my suckups and damage in general all of that is from years of practice and understanding typical movement patterns of each portrait and how they react. I’m glad you enjoyed the run!
Gotcha. I'll have to look up more about R-Pumping. I guess learning to handle the portrait ghosts must just come with the level of practice speedrunning takes. I don't have the patience for that kind of thing and though I must have played Luigi's mansion several dozen times since I first got it, I clearly have a lot more to learn about it. Thank you!
Dear lord how far this game has come and keeps going. Also please point into the direction to get the robot arms you must have to be this godly. XD. Keep doing great things my dude!
BenguinHD The first one is better than 2 and 3. I bought 3 thinking it was gonna be cool but it turns out that there is some bad qualities I never knew and discovered them.
I can see this guy being the person in school who would listen to people about how fast they could beat a game and there saying that they can beat in 3 hours, but then he is like, “I can only beat it in one hour”
I guess I’ll do it. For the first 10 health when sucking on a boo the boo stays in place. By refreshing the cool down every 10 health by releasing R and holding L so Luigi doesn’t put away his vacuum he can make the boo stay in place for quite a while. Once the boo cackles 15 times he will start to move on his own. If played optimal you can “R pump” 15 times. The strat is called R pumping.
Siento muchísima nostalgia al ver este video... recuerdo que tenía 10 años cuando lo jugaba y me frustraba no saber como pasar de habitación en habitación. Decidí verme el video ahora que tengo Luigis Mansion 3 ;)
Im very confused as to how you got 23 Big Pearls. There's only 19 in the game because you only get them for getting 90hp or more out of a boss ghost, this dosnt include Area boss' due to them not dropping pearls. Edit: Your Big pearl numbers jumped by 2 when collecting one at, 27:3029:31, 30:23, and 52:51
Yeah at times when my pearl count goes up by two that’s referred to as a pearl dupe. It involves touching a pearl (a large pearl in these cases listed) on the same frame with both Luigi’s hitbix and the hitbox of sucking something up within the vacuum. It allowed me to skip getting other gems in the money route I had saving roughly 35 seconds overall.
@@snap3472 Okay, thanks for the explanation. I was very confused when i saw the final money score, so i rewatched all the boss' to see how it happened. Good job on the run btw
So how that works is a method known as Duping. There's a 1 frame trick known by most runners to duplicate pearls in order to avoid collecting other money such as gems throughout the mansion thus saving some time. If you look at certain large pearl collects throughout the run you'll notice the counter going up by 2 instead of one using a vacuum cancel to collect the same pearl twice.
so the whole mansion got punished and the only one that like it was. the fortune teller the plants paid you because they enjoyed seeing these guys go out
Well I took a few month hiatus from the game but I’ll be coming back to streaming in a few days grinding out some different categories. I may return to 100% for 1:07 routing at some point though:)
