hardcore battlefield player here, bought this game at a pawnshop a few years back and when I played it i was annoyed so much because I kept dying and didn't know how to properly play as I was so use to the typical fast pace FPS games, but a few dozen deaths later this game grew on me and I fell in love. hopefully we will see another operation flashpoint game in the future. PS the theme song of this game is beautiful!
They got ofp games out,but its called arma.the guys who started it did not had the rights to use the name of the game after they left ore someone made them leave

What im getting at is. that in OFP:CWC if i tryed to change the battleplan, the game adapted(The enemys was spawned). In OFP:DR if i tryed a different rout, the game spawnd enemys in places i'v allready been at, when i passed a "trigger"... (If that makes any sence :)
With regards to AI problems - I've found it's really about learning to speak the same "language" as them. Once i got the hang of how they react to my orders, I found them to be quite capable. Not as capable as human players, but still.

Really love both Dragon Rising and Red River. The only reasons I play ARMA III is because they were behind the original Flashpoint and because of the freedom of action on the field. But the true Flashpoint sequels for me personally are Dragon Rising and Red River, because of the campaigns which were the main things that blew my mind in the original Flashpoint. ARMA's bs non-existing armies and countries made me hate the first ARMA so much that I never even finished the campaign, and I didn't really care about bugs in it. It wasn't before ARMA III that I actually began playing it. But still prefer RR and RR. Dr works just fine if fully patched, at least on the PC.

Honestly this game is the perfect example of a failed opportunity. If it was done right it would have trampled over the big names like call of duty and battlefield. It had a massive map but failed to manipulate it properly. Its missions are constanly inconsistent and often have mission ending bugs. Team mates will either kill you or get infront of you as you shoot. They will often not follow orders correctly or will stand directly in the open just to get shot. Sure if it had more mod compatibility it might have lasted another couple years. But what really killed it was the clumsiness and the bugs. Sure you can deal with old graphics, you can tolerate old AI stuff. But game breaking bugs literally make it unplayable.
Did you know you can command your squad's medic to heal you? Did you even play the full campaign? There is just too much shit you throw at the game without knowing there is a fix. Like the bug where you jump into the air: just don't sprint over very abrupt terrain Or the weird vehicle handling: play around with the controls a little in the first part of the vehicle mission so you can figure out the controls. Or the weird weapons: i just don't get what you think is weird. I had no problem scoring headshots at long ranges if i first took the time to properly range my target. And also q brings up a tactical menu which fixes the whacky squad because instead of shouting go there you can order them to do that That is all... sry for paragraph but stop with all this easily debunkable shit

You'd be disappointed if you wanted a sand box tactical shooter, you'd have played ARMA instead. You'd be also disappointed if you were looking for a casual shooter with real world settings, you'd have played Battlefield instead. DR was a typical example of overhyped but under delivered.

I played this game so much until I built a pc and started playing arma 2. I might have to give this game a go again. Had a lot of fun playing this.

The game want more player, they gotta add editor functions, to make more kinds of missions, more weapon systems, more available for Film maker.
IMO, dragon rising and arma3 both have pro's and cons the other doesnt.
