Your video was very helpful..... I just bought a bass boat with a 1998 Yamaha 130 HP motor. Prior to purchasing the boat it was taken to a mechanic to get the motor to run..... I saw what was done and it was extensive, including new fuel lines and taking out the gas tank and cleaning it. Upon getting it home and hooking up to "muffs" in the driveway it started right up but I noticed the fuel bulb would never get really hard (like my other boat had done).... it didn't concern me because I figured everything was gone over prior to my purchasing the boat.
I took it out (November) just to see what it could do and was pleased with how the boat/motor preformed ... lots of power and pick up...... That was it for the winter.... this Spring I put the muffs back on and tried to start the motor and it would just crank and crank but not turn over. I suspected the fuel bulb (I'm not a mechanic obviously), replaced it and of course that was not the problem. I then replaced the pump..... immediately the fuel bulb got rock hard when pumping it and the motor fired up immediately. I ran it for several minutes to see how the high/low/idle was and all were good. The next day I was going to take it to the lake, and per my usual procedure I tested the motor in the driveway before heading out and the motor just cranks but does not fire. The fuel ball is just fine but it doesn't fire. Unlike your motor this particular motor's fuel pump is under several things and very difficult to get to. Is it possible the fuel pump is bad.... that I got a bad pump even though it was new? It almost looked like a "reconditioned" pump as there were scratches on the outside of the pump and it's overall appearance (to me). BUT, what should I check before taking all the stuff in front of this pump to replace it? The fuel filter is new and clean.... the gas is fresh.... I just wish this darn thing was easy to access.... the filter is in a bad location too!
    Thanks!

Helpful video but very interested to hear if the issue ever came back? I have similar issue that it bogs down when running, very intermittent and runs fine for a bit if you stop and pump fuel bulb. Have cleaned tank, inspected pickup tube, new fuel line and bulb, flushed carb bowls. Going to change the pump next same as here. Just wondering if that solved it longer term. Thanks

Thanks for the video. I think I need to do the same thing on my 1999 Yamaha C60TLRX. It runs great at low rpm and idle, but starts acting like it is either missing, or starved for gas when on plane. I changed the plugs, but did not help. I thought it might be a stuck closed thermostat causing it to go into RPM reduction, but the buzzer was not sounding. The thermostat was stuck open so it would not be RPM reduction, but it got changed anyway. The boat sat for about a year and a half without getting used so I drained the fuel tank. There was a lot of water in it. I'm guessing it is either the fuel pump or a coil going bad. I'll start with the fuel pump and go from there.

I have a problem... you have a hard time starting it...i throw sprey stqrter... but after that it's fine. Maybe I need a new fuel pump or an advance adjustment

Hi, just wondering how you narrowed it down to the fuel pump?
    Did you look inside it?

Hi What caused the fuel pump to fail? Because in the span of 6 months, he changed three times, and I don't know why
