Truck engine knocking on acceleration after being run out of coolant

Inspected this vehicle at an auction the other day for an interstate client. Fortunately, he got it inspected as there was no coolant and an engine knock on accelerating. The current owners problem could have been his problem if he hadn't had one of our pre-purchase truck inspections! Also, I called the dealer and there are no engines or rebuild kits in the country, that's a 8-12 week wait for parts if you want to fix it!!
