The story is good but the execution is literally in hell. But there is a major plot hole of why they chose students and not like prisoners, just cut prison food, and spend money to increase agricultural export. 36:31 someone call Johnny Joestar on this man
Well the whole point is that parents keep having kids, and more kids means bigger population. They probably have the death penalty for more prisons in an event like this. not a corrupt government, a tyrannical one. This is what happens when you ban drugs and guns. Slippery slope, keep letting the government tell you what you can and can't do and this is exactly where we'll end up
No, it is not. Because, the parents would buy the answers. Politicians - presumably democratically elected - would accept bribes from the guards, or bribe the guards. The guards would have children as well. The entire premise is so unutterably stupid that only a really stupid person would conceive of it as being a passable plot for a film.

Now i can grant you that the guards and government may have children and that is the only loophole i can find, but as they are literally the ruling class, the rules will not apply to them. yes but its slightly different:
The main character fails and gets taken to the “execution place” but they tell him that he would be a good “hvid mand” (the evil guys) and he is told to execute his friend or be executed himself..it ends with a gunshot and then your left to guess what he chose yourself.

To be fair to the movie, they explain that the UN dictates a maximum amount of population increase. Therefore, it's not necessarily a pass/fail, or a percentage, but an absolute number of survivors, regardless of the tested population. Therefore, yes, cheater lady was indeed killing people.
Wait I still didn’t get how the cheater lady was getting people killed. Shouldn’t everyone who passes the test survive?
@@co7769 Since the UN wanted a certain amount of people dead therefore, if 50 people passed and the UN wanted 10 of them dead, the people who ranked from 41-50 would be killed.
@@co7769 Those who pass the test illegitimately are pushing down the scores of others, who would have passed had the cheaters not cheated, into the 5%, so they "die" when they should have survived.
@@co7769 no it’s the bottom 5 (or whatever) percent. So you could pass and still get killed
@@Blueturtle1 so what type of test would you have to take where you pass but still end up in the bottom 5%? Cause didn’t they also say the percentage increases every year? So would people be getting dumber? If they kill off all the “dumb” characters, and only have kids who 100% pass, then what? Pick off the adults?
The story is good but the execution is literally in hell.
But there is a major plot hole of why they chose students and not like prisoners, just cut prison food, and spend money to increase agricultural export.
36:31 someone call Johnny Joestar on this man
Well the whole point is that parents keep having kids, and more kids means bigger population.
They probably have the death penalty for more prisons in an event like this. But that only solves a portion of the problem.
Agricultural exports makes the most sense, yet at the same time, with the world dwindling on resources due to population, that likely includes land. Not just in the US but the rest of world.

the worst part is that the movie actually had a very interesting and potentially great idea, but it had to end with youtube stars

The idea is very interesting but the acting.. uh..
@@jimreily7538 you know there is a thing called "I'm a privileged high class member and the rules don't apply to me" you think the politicians that made the rule are morons, of course they will set a rule that excludes rich people and politicians
@@jimreily7538 Well no. What do you think a DYSTOPIA is? This is much like The Hunger Games but instead of physical survival, its intellectual survival. The government would be tyrannical so they won't be democratically elected and therefore will not accept bribes from ordinary citizens and because they will run the ruling class. Now i can grant you that the guards and government may have children and that is the only loophole i can find, but as they are literally the ruling class, the rules will not apply to them. The idea is actually a very frightening abstract as it is literally invoking eugenics, passing on the intellectual genes for a "greater" society. The execution of the film is poor, the only redeeming quality is the idea.
I love how during an event made to maintain resources, they use technological shackles for their failing students.
