With Karlos you know you’re going to hear a lot about 2 things, PEDs and genetics. I’m no going to comment on those cause I’m not privy to specific info. Sure he picked the right parents, but so did everyone who’s going to Paris. But you know what-This mutha works HARD. Last year I remember WH showed a vid of what Karlos did the day after his comp day which he won and I think did the 223. This machine just kept cranking it out without taking a day off. The same thing with his Achilles problem. Maybe he came back so quickly because he wanted it so badly. Sure you need the right type of medical help but there’s more to it than that. I don’t know this guy from Adam but I’ll bet he’s loaded in the willpower department.
I feel like he's even more of a special case for his joints, tendons, and muscles to be able withstand constant heavy work like that. He's literally built for this and allows him to work harder than pretty much all of them.

I'm not saying gear doesn't age you , but most of these elite athletes go through puberty very early and devloped quickly due to genes , Mike Tyson at 15 looked like a 40 year old man . I dout Carlos takes even 1/10 of what some amateur bodybuilders take .

I see Kolecki mentioned below. He was exceptional. Here in the USA over many decades, we've had several very young lifting phenoms. John Davis was an early example lifting near WR weights as a teenager, then Gary Gubner (a heavyweight) yet another. I do think Nasar is the best of the bunch, yes. But, forget huge upside projections if he stays in the same weight class. Precocious strength athletes of all sorts have us all dreaming of their upside potentials but it rarely happens as they mature. Where we do see it is when, say, a powerlifter gains weight (and girth) over the years. But, even in more static lifting, absent added bodyweight, the gains are limited. The late teens for the rather rare early maturing athletes and the early to mid 20s for us mortals? One should be pretty close to topped out. I hope Nasar proves me wrong!

Well, the "ideal" body type for the Olympic lifts would be a long torso relative to short legs. I suppose longer arms would be good, too, but you rarely see it in those with long torsos/short legs (again relatively speaking). Many Oriental lifters have what I speak of. It's generally true of many sports where a longer torso allows one torque the spine for better throwing/punching, etc. There are exceptions, of course, like long and high jumping where long legs are an advantage. Nasar does look long-legged but likely only compared to what we often see in elite weightlifters.

This was RAW too due to the equipment of the 1980's being of little help to lifting totals. In High school in the 80's, especially in small schools like Seley, TX, there was no real equipment at all. No drug free teenager has totaled 2000+ lbs in a HS meet RAW in a long time. Mark also made the US olympic weight lifting team in 1992 and 1996. He was literally clean and jerking 200+KG with no training in High school.
Sam Sulek has millions of subs on youtube. Karlos Nasar on the other had. People are nuts if they don't see how rare Karlos is. This young man deserves way more attention but I guess maybe he doesn't need it.
Power jerk is where you don't do a split jerk. This technique can help you lift more weight, but you are also more likely to fail on technicality. (misgroove, etc)

Ilya Ilyn at 17 years old was already senior champion at -85kg, with 170/216.
At 18 years old in -94kg, he did 171/226 and 175/217.
The BW is very important part. One is to do 226 on 94kg bw and other on 89-90 kg bw. Karlos did 226 on 90 lg bw. 4 kilos difference.
