This is a simple way to neatly cut off the lid from an oil drum and be able to reuse it afterwards. - แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต

Glad I did a search on youtube before I started and glad that I found this. Great idea and it took me all of 7 minutes to do my drum. just a tip or two...... cut with the drum horizontal and use a plank laid on the floor to stop the barrel rolling towards you. Go slowly, cutting sections of a few inches at a time, and when you think you are about to cut through, stop and take a hammer and tap under the rim, [ie towards the lid end]. This will break the last little bit of metal off with reduced risk of cutting right through the 'lid' piece too. Repeat till all the way round the drum. Do make sure to trim and tidy the burrs from the cut edge of the drum and tidy up the lid, or you can end up gashing your hand. hope this helps someone

I cut mine in the center of the roll crimp on the edge that way it leaves a groove to sit on the rounded lip of the top of the barrel. Kinda like how an actual lid works.

Why not flip the lid over and use the outer lip to come over the sides of the drum and make a snug seal - perhaps put a few metal clamps or a ring clamp on it? Have you tried?
Unfortunately I don’t think this method would work as the lid edge normally sits inside the drum so wouldn’t fit over the outside edge.

Have you tried to use a lever locking lid on a steel barrel after removing the old lid? Does it work?

@@luxsabre I think I'm getting good but I can handle criticism.
People should be very cautious with this. Using a cut off wheel creates heat. If these aren't cleaned out properly, they can and will explode. An empty tank that has never had a combustible material in it is fine, but if there are vapors from flammable/combustible materials, it's dangerous. Doesn't take a spark. Just the heat your cut off wheel is generating.
