During the 14th and 15th centuries England witnessed an explosion of written poetic output in the vernacular, the lyrics of which were intimately bound to music. Sadly, only a handful of poems have survived 'intact'; in the spirit of reconstruction, The Dufay Collective join forces with Voice to perform extant songs and instrumental adaptations as well as poetry set to adapted/original melodies by director William Lyons, also including a selection of rare surviving instrumental dances.
I don't know what the climate of your summer is like, but here in the Alps the clouds break on the tall trees of the mountains, it often rains and it is really cool and I, who love this climate that reminds me so much of that of Albion, can only listen to this beautiful record.
Have a good listening!

this is the most beautiful music i've heard in my life
Nothing surpasses the soothing effect of this music on a stressed mind.🛀🌼🌺🌸💐🎍🌺
Agreed. Also a stressed heart.
The earlier the period, the more I as a German can still understand the language without having to mix in English.
En parte el idioma inglés deriva del alto alemán.
@@RenataBruegel It has modern high German words in the language, yes, but the language itself is heavily influenced by high middle german. Fun fact: Old letters in America had the sentence structure we have in Germany. Maybe because the largest group of immigrants were once Germans.
Mi apellido vasco iriberri significa pueblo nuevo ,en español .no es extraño el nombre berri en inglés aunque los filólogos tienen argumentos de que los vascos no son indoeuropeos
Yah. Me also!
@@Fuerwahrhalunke also even in england i noticed some texts used to capitalize all the nouns like German does. Though this might be primarily during the Hanoverian period right before and during the American revolution when UK was in personal union with Hanover.
I recently returned from a fortnight in Vienna, one afternoon in a public part, I was delighted to sit and listen to a musician play tunes from this album. It took me a while to remember how I recognized the music.
Thank you for taking us on another delightful musical excursion. Arthritis or no, I can still dance in my mind. :-D

Beautiful & utterly enchanting music from a mysterious and magical time🎵🧡
This was truly delightful. The last piece (a dance piece) reminded me of early Appalachian violin and dulcimer music. My heartfelt thanks!

enchanting! any chance i can get hold of the sheet music for any of these tracks by any chance?
Does anyone know the name of the piece that starts around 1:02:32? It is heavenly! The playlist listed doesn't seem to coincide with a vocal piece like that.
I did a bit of sleuthing on Amazon and Google: It's the Corpus Christi Carol (track #19). There are a few performance videos of it on TH-cam. Apparently Benjamin Britten made an arrangement of it that's very popular. And I agree - it's really quite lovely.

@@AnneBeggs You're welcome. 😊

What is the name of the song that starts at 14:40? I love it and want to find the lyrics!
It's "Maiden In The Mor Lay" (Lyons) -!
@@Starry-Eyed-Shepherd Thanks so much!
@@Starry-Eyed-ShepherdThis is really cool, thanks again!
what are the instruments? harps ?

You must upload the messe de nostre dame by the ever masterful guilliam machaut. It is widely considered a masterpiece of the Middle Ages and any good medieval music channel should have it uploaded. I recommend diabolus in musicas performance even though their name is based on an outdated myth about the interval of a tritone it is a very beautiful performance.
Also Ensemble Organum
i play the dreams and then i cecide i don't like somethig - it becomes unpleasant, as in cats ripping me open and others diddling themselves
