Obrigada❤❤❤❤
To be technical, the Dark Ages doesn't mean the entire medieval era, it's mostly the early era, like 1000AD, after the Romans were gone and Europeans were living in wooden tower castles and huts, and things were pretty primitive. It's a long era that covers a lot of development, so the later era was a lot more advanced and had a fair amount of art and technology. Although I'm sure they always had music. Just sadly a lot of the early stuff probably s never recorded because they hadn't developed a system yet, and a lot of it was transmitted by the folk and oral tradition. I doubt any culture anywhere has ever lacked music entirely, and I have rarely heard any that wasn't good in some way. I do agree that the popular conception is wrong, and I do love the medieval music.
@@Lordrustus I am talking about the "Dark Ages", the early medieval period. Like I said, it is like a 1000 year period. They didn't go from Roman colony to stone castles immediately. That takes relatively advanced technology to build, especially the foundations. The earliest castles, when the legends of King Arthur would have actually existed, would be a mound, or more, with a timber wall, and a timber strong point. They started using stone eventually, but you can't just stack thousands of tons of stone onto soft ground and not expect it to sink. Over a couple hundred years the keep generally became a primitive stone tower. The fancy turreted stone castles most people think of came in the late period after a lot of development. But the Dark Ages specifically is the period after Rome was gone, it was mostly just tribes and warlords. European culture didn't just spring into existence immediately after Rome left. The US has only been around like 250 years at this point, it took them that long just get from 750 to 1000AD, them they had another 400 years until the Renaissance. The real objection is to grouping all that stuff together into one "era" to start with. But even then you have the Low, Middle, and High Medieval period. The first stone castles and churches are from the middle mostly. Although I don't pretend to be any kind of expert, I just read an interesting thing about early castles a few years ago, and the engineering problems of building them. Of course the ones with nice solid ground and suitable quarries nearby went to partial and full stone construction first, while the ones in the flat countries had to use wood for longer, because they couldn't get stone, and the soil was just too soft to support the weight (although excellent for farming). Iirc the main reason for the mound in a motte and bailey was to build up a solid, well drained and packed base to support the weight of a tower, and they were used first and longest in the wetter, softer soil. The existence of the large stone structures of the late period already proves they had quite advanced technology even without the arts, a lot of those are still standing, or would be. Same with the bridges. Building a stone bridge that won't sink and collapse over centuries takes some quite advanced skill in engineering.

One of the proofs that the Middle Ages were not the "Dark Ages" as they say, is the music of the time, as it is beautiful and happy music.

@@justforever96the idea they were living in wooden castles is a little misleading lol. Maybe in remote regions but most castles were made of stone lol

More proof it was the _Middle Ages_ is that everyone had 2 or even 3 _middle fingers,_ or it was missing altogether.

I am absolutely not a christian. But I enjoy this music 🐺 🖤
