It's a tough one with treble crochet. I usually do the 3 stacked single crochet stitches when starting a treble crochet row. Search for Naztazia Straight Edges for the full tutorial.
I’m 64 made many things, mermaids, crocodiles, blankets, birds, trains, I have never used this and have prefect edges, just pick up the outer stitch from the 2nd chain 3, hard to explain but very easy to do.
This method creates more of what a regular double crochet looks like. Other methods of creating straight edges, which I show in my full tutorial, such as two stacked single crochet stitches, or a single crochet, chain 1 combo, create a double crochet looking stitch, but not quite as close as this one.

I’m slightly confused about it, I’m still not sure how that is done, is it just to double crochet by pulling up some length, twisting the loop and double crocheting that?
This is a preview video called a #short The full tutorial can be found below my photo by clicking on the the small triangle play button. Or search for Naztazia straight edges.
This whole stitch demonstrated in the video would serve as a full double crochet stitch. It replaces the need for either a chain 2 or chain 3 at the beginning. So no chain stitches would be needed by doing this stitch at the beginning of a crochet row that called for double crochet.
It's just something for the very first stitch of each row to replace the normal chain 3 that occurs at the beginning of each row in crochet patterns. The chain 3 is kind of a weaker stitch, so this method creates a more substantial stich, one that almost looks like a regular double crochet.
I’ll be using this technique on my next double crochet project.
Very happy to help!

Where the woolen shop? Please reply.
A very nice and tidy edge. Wish I had seen this two months ago, but I’ll try it for my next blanket. TFS
Me too. I’m crocheting a blanket for my grandson and my edges aren’t straight like these. I can’t wait to use this to clean up my edges.
stacked single crochets are also really good for this!
Absolutely! That's in another short video of mine right before this one.
Love this technique. I saw on another site but you accomplished it in less than a minute. The other was 4 unnecessary minutes 🙄 Thanks 😊
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you, for sharing!! I will try that next time!! ❤
Awesome!
Thanks for this and where do you get your colorful yarn from. I'm in love with the colors that you use.

I tried this with treble crochet. I still can't 😂😢

I'd love to know what kind of yarn you're using!!!!!
I would too! It was from AC Moore back in like 2019 in their mill ends section. No name, just in bags. Said it was a blend of acrylic and cotton.
Whats the actual difference between this method and doing a single+1chain?

So would that be the chain 2 and then one more be the 3rd. Just curious that is awsome

so how?

This “backwards twist” on the first stitch of a new row… does it do for all stitches?
It's just something for the very first stitch of each row to replace the normal chain 3 that occurs at the beginning of each row in crochet patterns. The chain 3 is kind of a weaker stitch, so this method creates a more substantial stich, one that almost looks like a regular double crochet.
