Thank you sir for your videos. I've had 3D for a couple of years now, the free version, and I can just spend hours and hours designing. Just lately have I got halfway decent with adding the roofs. I'm always trying to work out a problem, and it seems like I learn something new every time I work with it. Your videos have been a tremendous help to me. :))
This is an AMAZING program. Hats off to the programmer. Thank you for making it available for free. I will be contributing. This by far the easiest and most powerful 3D rendering program I have seen. So intuitive. Again, thanks.
to create triangular walls just follow this wall/modify walls/choose sloping wall/set height at start to 0, set height at end to 0. chadaan! thank me later. :)
trying to make a roof..seems to be impossible. You mentioned about the import of the 3DModelsContribution...but there ain't no roofs in at all... I hoped for, you would explain how to make a roof with the program as it is...mentioning something that can not be found leads to 0 (zero) results... I was thinking about buying your Udemy course... but if it's a hocus pocus as with this roof...what good does it then???
Hi, I've just started watching your Sweet Home 3d tutorial videos, can you show me how to make a roof for a building that I'm trying to make to represent a building as close to it is in real live, the building isn't quite square in shape it's outside wall shape is trapezium. I'm finding this really challenging & so I give you the challenge to make & show how it is done. With gable ends on the angled ends Thank you
Hi, I just downloded the 3DModels-Contributions-1.6.2 (an the alos the 1..6.4). However, no roofs are provided. A lot of new objects, but no roof :( I have the SWH3D ver 6.1.2. Any idea what to do ? - I would need the roof! Thanks
If you don't have the roof objects in your library, then you can download the '3DModels-Contributions' file first from the Sweet Home 3D website, unzip it, and import into Sweet Home 3D furniture library before you can create roof objects.
Hi there! I'm using version 6.5.2 and I know its been quite a while but does anyone know how to get rooves in this version? There aren't any options for rooves and i tried to look for one on the website but there weren't any... help!
the latest '3DModels-Contributions-1.8.zip' has the 'red slate roof'. See www.sweethome3d.com/importModels.jsp You can also download models individually from this page. www.sweethome3d.com/freeModels.jsp
File --> Preferences --> Furniture Catalog View --> Searchable List. Also, for roof object, if you cant see it, you can download the '3DModels-Contributions' file from the Sweet Home 3D website, unzip it, and import into Sweet Home 3D furniture library. Restart.
This is very complicated. But do look at the examples on this page. www.sweethome3d.com/gallery.jsp You can download the .sh3d and load it locally to see how it might be done. You can always create custom models using Blender, but that is complicated if you've never used it before.
Sir i have a question for you. Sir how can i take a realistic video in sweet home 3d. Like i reander a photo in sweet home 3d. With lights. So can you help me. And sir i try to take a video of quality 4 but it doesn't work. So can you help me. Pls
There is the [3dview]-[Create Video] option. You can try that. You will need to spend many hours making it perfecting your lighting, camera tracking and rendering.
Sir i know it taks time but its just getting sooo many hours. You see in my channel i took loz of video in 1920 by 1080 pixels but i want more realistic look of my house designs. Sir in sh3d there are available 4 steps to take video or photos. I want to take steps no 4. But it does not happening. So can you help me
And sir can make a small video about this question so i can learn it better. Pls sir. Your my only hope. I scerch every ware but no videos available about this.
I know this is 4 years old, but in case anyone still reads this: The problem is, that you can now see no objects or walls whatsoever on the 2nd Level, because the roof sits on top of them and blocks them out in the plan. Sure you can make the roof invisible, but then it also becomes invisible in the 3D view, where you want to see it. So I end up with lots of objects that I constantly have to make visible and invisible in order to work with my plan. Obviously you don't need a roof to be blocking everything out in the 2D plan--but you generally want to see it in the 3D view. If you just have one house that's not such a big deal, but if you have a backyard with multiple garages and sheds at different heights, this becomes annoying quickly. Is there any way to achieve that? For example can you put the roof by itself on a new level?
Great tutorial! I have a question - I have imported all the libraries with great enthusiasm, but find it greatly reduces the performance; how can I delete some of the furniture, so I can make room for other imported furniture I prefer?
On furniture you import individually, you can right click it in the furniture menu and you have a delete option.Unfortunately, deleting furniture libraries is more complicated. On windows, you need to go to the folder where the library sh3f file is stored and delete it the using file explorer. The folder where the sh3f file is stored will be something like 'C:\Users\[your username]\eTeks\Sweet Home 3D\furniture'Sorry, I am unable to see any better option at the moment.
I discovered a furniture library editor on the SH3d site. I created a basic tutorial for it at th-cam.com/video/ovsQjD9Fwms/w-d-xo.html in case your interested.
Hello there. I've seen your video and wonder if it's possible to creat differents heights of a floor on the same level. For instantly, I would like to have a floor raised 50 cm from the ground but the rest of the area is 30 cm.
hi! I just bought this app from the app store but I can't seem to find a way to export a floor plan in pdf or jpeg!! (Which is ridiculous as this is what I bought it for! I couldn't care less about printing from the 3D view - I just want to export the actual 2D floor plan! How is this done?
Use the Plan->Export to SVG format. SVG can be opened in many other programs and probably exported. I expect google docs can do it. Or even try a screen grab.
yeah I tried that but the online SVG->JPEG converter gave me a crappy jpeg file. Well, you can see things "approximately" but that is DEFINITELY not a professionally-looking floor plan (more like a kid was playing around with shapes..). And, sure, I can always screenshoot the floor plan when I'm done making it but this app is meant to export floor plans AND 3D images of them in PDF, JPEG etc etc. To be precise, the app's description in the app store says "Print the home plan and the 3D view, or export them in files at PDF, PNG, JPEG, SVG, OBJ standard formats, to reuse designed homes in other software."... So the app clearly states that you can export both the floor plan AND the 3D view in JPEG and PDF... But it doesn't seem to do what it promises and that's a HUGE problem - it makes this newly purchased app pretty useless to me if it doesn't do this very BASIC thing... :(
draw it in photoshop or other graphics program that is good for drawing lines. export as an image, then import into sh3d as a background image. Then you can use it as a guide
The roof creates a big black blob on the drawing. How to hide the roof so we can continue to see and edit the drawing? How to have a wall that will close the gap between the sloping roof and the front wall underneath (the triangle shaped gap)?
2 options. 1. In bottom left items panel you have a visibility option for the object. This can be ticked while modifying. 2. Create a new level, copy paste the roof object from the old level to the new. The roof object will be sitting too high in the new level, but you can adjust the new level elevation property to be the same height as the old level you copied from. I show the concept of adjusting level heights independently in one of my other videos th-cam.com/video/pgfk1mMhbX0/w-d-xo.html, although this example is applied to the floor and not the roof.
I have a couple of roof window tutorial videos, but if you want, instead you can just download my sh3d roof window library from my github page at github.com/Sean-Bradley/SeanWasEre-TH-cam-Sweet-Home-3D-Furniture-Library. This also has links to my my roof window tutorials.

Hello sir, I have a question is about how I can move a ceiling up and down pls!!!
try modifying the wall height. Or level height, if you have multiple levels.
To me it doesn't work to bring down the roof. Can it be that it is because my roof go beyon the wall to cover partially the balcony???
adjust the level height of the level you are adding your roof to. Double click the level tab at the top of the 2d plan view to get it's properties.
