- This shows you how to open a EZgo Curtis controller off a 1996 EZgo TXT model golf cart.
I wanted to open the controller because it sounded like sand or dirt was inside.
I finally figured out how to open it and I want to share how I finally opened it with you.
It ended up being very corroded and rusted inside, which caused sand like grains inside. It looks like it had water from a flood or moisture built up inside, which caused it to corrode and rust very badly.

Thanks for the video. If you use an Ultrasonic Cleaner tank $90 on eBay, and some CLR or Branson EC, cleaning solution, I'll bet you could clean it up, replace all the Capacitors test the Power FETs. As long as it doesn't have a transformer or chips that are MFG specific. You could probably rebuild it for Im guessing $60 MAX in parts. Caps are $1 and Power FETs are $2 through Mouser. I have a Curtis 1237 Im trying to crack the case on and repair.
if you look at the scematic all the working parts just connect thur controler depends on what tble you are having start out by cleaning battery cables real good that effects the current flow big time if you clean the cables you willhave max current to motor all you get sometime is a click of the solenoid take the cables off one at atime use baking soda and water and an brush if you dont have awiire buffing wheel 90% of the tbls is theses dirty cables
what test told you tbl is in controller
Is there a way to test this controller?
Unfortunately that I know of besides hooking it up to a known good working cart. That's the only way I know of.
That controller is not a candidate for a repair. I open them by sliding a putty knife under the side to release, then go to the other side and repeat. To replace just align top to bottom and press gently until it snaps.
.
300 or 500 AMP ALL Trax controller and your problem is solved.
That thing was shot! Lol
Yes it was haha. I was hoping I would open it and maybe just clean it. No go.
ApplianceGuyOnline hahahaha.... definately a no go lol. I think i am going to have to try to figure out how to open the controller on our Yamaha g19e. I tried to rig it up in a way that would bypass the controller, and it's slightly works, but I just need to tear it apart and see what's going on. I definitely can't afford $600 for one
