The Switchaxe is really hard because it lacks any really evasive or defensive capabilities, except for the one axe stepback move. Other than that, with the somewhat low mobility, you dont really have a way to block like the lance, gunlance, charge blade, heavy bowgun, sns, and greatsword. So, the only way to use it is to predict the monster's move ahead of time to make sure you dodge in time due to it's slow mobility. I'd say it's one of the hardest weapons in the game.
as a cb main switch axe is hardest weapon for me i tried every weapon in game and my second mains are lance and gunlance but i just cant use switch axe he feels even more clunky than gunlance for me
I was a former switch ace main, it was the first weapon in Monhun, the moment I discovered that I can block with the greatsword the game instantly got 100% easier
The swaxe in rise has been very good to me. But i figured something out. Its my own sword snd shield tactic. Mobility was always a problem so i slapped on three jumping jewels so that way the jump distance is longer. Its a stamina consumer yes but it makes up for the lack in mobility. Defense wise its simple. You put three protection jewels on and then max out whatever resistance you want and it should work. Its getting an update in Wilds. I cant wait! Bc i really dont wanna go back to Glaive. Its been too much fun.
Weird as it may sound, this is the perfect weapon for anyone with ADHD. You've got so much to keep track of, that even when you're mind accidentally shifts focus to something else, it's, likely, going to be to something that'll help you better use this thing. The fact that it's so fun to play with will also help keep you on track.
I was drawn to Switch Axe because it was a cool concept and I kept it because it entertains my ADHD with keeping my brain occupied in 20 places at once
Not me who wanted to play insect glaive cuz I read it in a MH unrelated comment the first time I started a MH game, almost lost the first tutorial quest against the small Jagrases and afterwards switched to Swaxe for the reminder of MHWI xd
Funny because the switch axe was my first choice as a beginner XD. And it immediately clicked with me how to use it. I love the weapon with everything it’s brings so much that after my first use it became my Main Weapon never changing. Maybe it’s love at first sight XD. Otherwise loved your Video on the swaxe ❤
As a self proclaimed swagaxe pro, I think it's not that bad and you can figure it out after maybe ~10 hunts if you make sure to also practice combos and whatnot
Took like a 2 year break from the game to come back and play switch axe and honestly I found it quite easy like easier than long sword if I’m being real
I did the exact same thing, this thing shits damage. I've never had this easy of a time going through the game with any weapon and I play a good few already
@LightItUpDan maybe at endgame, but going through the game, I've never had an easier time. Hunts take like 2 mins lol and no I don't run defender stuff.
Played the whole game with ls, then ig then greatsword just to get folded by fatalis and finally solo him thanks to the swaxe. Don't sleep on this weapon, it's clunky, lack s mobility and defense. But boy if you know the monsters movesets you can ABUSE THEM

I have ADHD myself. I feel SA would be great. I love how I track monster movements and predict them-thinking what the next move I make would be.

Everything’s viable! Generally speaking, it’ll be less easy compared to other choices for most players

That has to be your playstyle. I play sns decent enough and swax puts out wild damage, like absolutely insane in comparison imo.

i mainly fing my selve using the charge attack with the explosion most of the time and it demolishes parts
