Tip when playing multiplayer: As soon as you reach MR3 you should have 2x Dust of Life, 4x Gloamgrass Bud+ 4x God bug to craft more(both of these can be cultivated) in your loadout. This is a life saver! For 3 items slots you get 6 almost instant heals for the whole team and helps so much when someone is stunned or about to cart. I have saved so many teammates with this but it's frustrating when you're the one that's stunned and they can't heal you because no one on the team has Dust of Life. This should be the #1 tip on everyone list for multiplayer
While playing through the story there are several sections where you have to gather tracks during expeditions and optional quests before you unlock the next main quest. These "special investigations" can be quite tedious and annoying. So, as soon as you get to High Rank farm some small Jagras to craft the "Hunter's Headgear Alpha". This helmet gives the the skills "Scoutfly Range Up" and "Scholar", which increase the range of your track "radar" and speed up the progress per track found by 20% respectively. Quite helpful for these "quests".
Another super useful tip is tranq bombs have their own status condition with a duration, so you can tranq bomb a sleeping monster first, then place your trap. This can be niche but if you like to trap a lot during a fight especially against things like Barioth to give you time to break its limbs, or if you run Bugtrapper Palico, it makes it a lot easier than trying to get 2 tranqs in a potentially 3 second window.
Limping, Skulls on the minimap from the monster icon and most importantly if the monster manages to escape and you find it somewhere sleeping in whatever might seem like a nest, put a trap and give it 2 tranq bombs cause you got it in the bag, besides elder dragons, those you only slay but you get more than the usual 3 carves
@tommywenis ive gotten mantels and gems from caps so it is possibility carves are just 1% chance higher than cap. But thats a 1% to 2% chance increase usually
Bottom left. Monster icon. Under the portrait is an ECG. If the monster is not enraged, the amplitude of the ECG waves indicate the monster's hp. A flatter trace indicates it is about to die. (Therefore being more of a CTG?) Also you can turn on the silhoutte option in the options menu to make life easier
Super useful! I learned a couple new things despite having a couple hundred hours in the game. It's a little obnoxious how "raw is king" yet it's fairly complicated to calculate your weapon's raw damage, between affinity, sharpness multipliers, and that arbitrary weapon type modifier they slapped on...
Did not know I could hold the input down to gather, that’s fantastic. Also didn’t know I could use geology in GL to get the shinys twice. Also didn’t know about negative affinity giving you negative damage
I'm an heretic, capture only, and am returning to the game after some time. I have left the game right after killing Fatalis and, now, I'll be looking to augment all weapons (high rank level); get the Platinum Trophy; and, later, will go on to continue the DLC. Thank u for the video. Loved the accent, slang and informations.
I learned that the slinger ammo dropped by the monsters when attacking the indicates how low there health is i think the first one drops at 30% health the second is at 20% and the 3 is like 10% i find it easier to capture monsters when the second pod drops
I feel like not many people know of what I call “runnable walls” where all Locales have certain walls that you can “run up”, and certain weapons have unique attacks off of it, like the spinning hammer bludgeon like what you do when sliding down slopes ❤
A tip I learned about today when watching someone do a Fatalis run (I haven’t even tried this out myself): I think in some circumstances when your character is lying on the ground, he can use his slinger
I believe even when you're pinned down, but not when stunned. Like when you get caught in that Nergi dive bomb he loves to spam. Slinger his stupid face, might just save you before he finishes you off. I think you can even switch to flash pods if it's not loaded yet.
For training area, asides from the Palico and your home, you can also access it through the map... A little bit faster, but probably useful if you need to go there many times...
GL tips, focus on leveling coral and volcano almost to lvl 7. Then level up wildspire and forest region to a zinogre and glavenus spawn level. For rarity 12 weapon augments
The amount of times I hear rapid button clicking when gathering/carving in a group in voice chat is unreal lmao. I can't count how many people I've told that you can just hold the button and you'll keep gathering until you're finished.
Crazy that I've played MH my whole life and loved World and I didnt know stuff like the elemental res being 20 and geologist adds an extra shiny pickup. Game is full of random hidden mechanics. +Sub
I didnt know about the target lock on, for some reason the slinger option while weapon is drawn is the same as the lock on for ranged weapons, and it annoys me to no end everytime i accidentally lock on before aiming.
unfortunately no, focus monster and aim slinger is same option, if i could show you what it looks like on pc, i would. Well ive set it to "do not focus" as i have pretty quick reaction time
2 questions that can hopefully be answered. 1) at 8:20 about elemental resistances, is it possible to have too much elemental resistance? ( how much would be too much?) 2) at 9:43 does the monster take less damage from the player when the monster is in rage mode?
The elem res number colour denotes what "tier" it's in, the higher it is the more red it gets. It caps at something like 50, I forget, but anything over 20 for the free blight resist is a waste anyhow. It can do, some monsters will become armored, like Nergigante's black spikes
"For whatever reason you want to capture a monster" Me: "uuuuuh capture quests? Plus you get to see them sleeping in Astera" Also already know most of them around 18/21. 50 hours in and just beginning High rank coz I spent a lot exploring and reading
What the hell. I'm not gonna lie, I didn't even really know there were heart rate lines beneath the monster's icon, and paid even less attention to it over all, let alone noticing that it CHANGES. Or that there was an indicator for capturable state within it.
I've wondered with the armor loadouts, but do decorations save per loadout? Or do they remain separate? Like can I use the same armor set but only change decorations from say focus to evade extender? Or will the decorations stay how they were last set and I'd have 2 identical loadouts?
I actually had this question about a week ago and from the MHH discord the answer was that you can change your loadout with decorations, save it, swap them around, save the second one, and the decorations will follow.
Your decos are saved to the loadout slot. When ever you equip a different loadout your decos will change. No need to worry about switching decos everytime. Make your build with your prefered decos and save it.
Great question, as others have already answered, your decos are saved to the loadout, making them super convenient for different builds and styles even with the exact same weapons but a different set of decos!
ive seen the raw is king before, but every one also says i need to build elemental bow with critica element and whatnot. is it such a waste of effort? or do different weapons vary in effectiveness of elemental damage?
Raw vs Elemental comes down to motion values. General rule is Slow weapons are better with Raw and Fast weapons are better with Elemental but it also depends on the monster's weaknesses. Kinda tricky lol
@@abusivewafflegaming4450 ah. gotcha. well, thats true for all monster hunter. slow weapons (as in, all but bow, ig, sns and db), never had relevancy when it comes to elemental damage.
Elemental is a flat damage addition to each hit, hence why it’s more effective for fast/multi striking weapons like dual blades and bow. The damage calcs on the hit zones are really punishing, making it virtually pointless for the vast majority of fights. Viable, yeah, but raw nearly always wins by miles in nearly all circumstances. Alateon is near enough the only fight where it matters, and that’s because they’re making a point of it being an elemental fight lol
There is a skill that gives you more sharpening meter, that little bag shows the sharpness that skill will give you, as there is a little bar with color at the bottom

@tommywenis ive gotten mantels and gems from caps so it is possibility carves are just 1% chance higher than cap. But thats a 1% to 2% chance increase usually
