I watched this movie with barely any memory on what happened in the previous ones other than bare bones knowledge. And it was amazing. I don't have much to say other than i really enjoyed it and all of the songs and the way snow was portrayed

great review! I skipped the prequel book when it came out as, similar to you, I wasn't really interested in the premise (and felt I'd aged out of it tbh) but the trailer for the film gave me good vibes so I went to see it on opening weekend. I ended up loving it and then went to read the book!

I personally really did enjoy watching it. The book, too, was a touching tale, at least it was for me. Some books are better left alone, but this prequel outright deserved its movie adaptation. I wasn't disappointed. I give it an eight out of ten.

i would love to see a movie of haymiches (idk how to spell it) game, the 50th one. from what we know, it’s extremely tragic and would perfectly show how terrible and brutal the games are

So my hot take is that we need to bring back the intermission: this movie would’ve been way better served by parts 1 and 2 being before an intermission then we return for part 3; this way, we’d be primed for a new setting and Snow’s continued descent into evil thru prejudice, betrayal, possessive obsession and ambition.
I’m surprised they haven’t already given the opportunity to sell more snacks.

IMO the editing of this movie feels disjointed, it reminds me of 2016 suicide squad.
The acting is great, the visuals are great, the props, makeup, everything else is great.
This movie would be better as a series.
Anyway, as a non-subscriber, congrats on being picked up by the algorithm. I didn't know you, but your video shows up on my recommended. That's good.

Don’t you think he did something right by humanizing the tributes? Like make sure they are well fed and be treated with respect, before they fight to the death? Don’t you think that’s good? It’s like the question should death row prisoners be given a good meal before their death (why slaughter an animal for a human who is about to be executed?) If it wasn’t Snow, tributes would arrive in Capitol dead, by starvation or by disease even before the game starts.
Sure the Game is inhumane, but to change it you need to to be in the System, and change it gradually. Radical change never turns out well in real life. It will be going from Snow dystopia to Coin dystopia, you thought you were free but in fact you entered to new and brutal dystopia.
I came to the movie blank, didn’t reach the trilogy, only fragments of memory remains and didn’t read the book, and I find the movie fascinating. I didn’t judge Snow by trilogy, just sighing at the decisions he made. I can feel him because I was like him, a stupid teenager who made stupid mistakes that I regret in my life.
