      Thanks for watching , yes you would need to put the IP address , port number , username and password in DVR PC software in order to access it. If your router is configured to forward data to DVR then you can access it from anywhere in the world.

    Can I just ask something as someone who knows little of the technology. I have a holiday home a long way from the UK that I need to monitor, as it is empty. Do these systems only work within a certain range, for example within 5,000 miles? If they can have a longer range than 5,000 miles, where do I find out the basics (without jargon) of the setup procedure?

    • @AVMEVideos

      John Green , you can access the DVR from anywhere in the world as long it's connected to internet, distance is not in equation .

      To access the live camera feed over internet then yes you have to connect to fixed broadband router or a cellular based internet or satellite internet for rural areas . There are different ways to do configuration and securing the access to camera over internet.

    For external viewing purposes, does the external IP remain static no matter the current default gateway IP in connection with to obtain you external one?

    • @AVMEVideos
      @AVMEVideos  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you have purchased the WAN static IP from your ISP then it would remain the same , if not then dynamic IP can change depending on ISP DHCP settings . Usually my Dynamic remains the same unless i switch my router off for 10 minutes or more then the ISP DHCP assigns me a new IP.
      Best solution is to register with a DDNS service , in case your router's dynamic WAN IP changes then you can logon to DDNS and check the new IP address. Swannview offer their own DDNS service for free link is here : www.swann.com/us/dvr-ddns-portal

    I think you need a static ip address and your internet provider will charge you for that. If you configure the ip address will be changed unless everytime the ip address changes you keep on changing from your mobile or home to watch it remotely.

    hello great video thanks. I'm working on a project with my team and we want to create a control room for the different sites where we installed a cctv system but we are met with the problem of how to remotely control all those sites from the control room. An idea on that could be helpful

    • @AVMEVideos
      @AVMEVideos  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      1: enable remote access on the CCTV DVR . Create a username and password , allocate tasks the user can perform once login is granted .
      2: If you don't have static IP address given to you by your ISP then configure DDNS service to monitor your public IP address.
      3: Configure the CCTV DVR inside the router for remote access .

    Hi AVME Videos, we followed all your steps but we couldn't view the DVR on a smartphone on both swannview and swannview pro, it either says stopped or server unavailable, we are using a ZTE MF 253 Router and secure-prod DVR and when you login as admin, we do not have those names as mobile port, media port and web port but we have http port, https port, rtsp port, tcp port, udp port and https port, so we would like to know which ports represent the ones you have in our DVR. Thank you in advance

    • @AVMEVideos
      @AVMEVideos  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was having the same issues on my Andriod phone when it upgraded to version 6.0 . I called swannview and they advised me to download a app called Asee+ which is working flawlessly. All apple devices are working okay with swannview apps.The mobile port you put in your mobile is 18004 , to access the dvr via computer/mac use 9000 port. Good luck.

      1: Login to your router & make a note of it's ip addess (i.e 192.168.0.1 class C) , subnet mask 24 bit ( i.e 255.255.255.0 ) & DNS provided by your ISP.
      1a: Go to DHCP of router & configure the pool assignment from lets say 100-254.
      1b: Make a note of mobile port ( i.e 1000) & web port ( i.e 2000) provided by your DVR manufacture in manual or documentation provided.
      1c: Login to your DVR by connecting it to the external screen, mouse provided & IR remote provided & assign a static IP address ( i.e 192.168.0.99) with same subnet mask ( 255.255.255.0) . In default gateway put your router ip address( i.e 192.168.0.1). In DNS field put the addresses provided by your ISP (i.e 1.1.1.1 & 2.2.2.2)
      1d: Go to port forwarding of your router & open web & mobile ports for the static ip address you assigned to your DVR.
      2: Connect your DVR VIA Cat5e, 6, 7 cable (aka LAN cable) .
      2a: Download the app on iphone /android & configure it with correct ip address settings and mobile port number.
      2b: connect iphone/android to your router via WIFI & check if you can see your cameras , if you can then go to next step,
      2c: Connect your iphone/android to 3g/4g , switch off wifi & then test if you can see your cameras. If you can then you have successfully done the configuration.
      Let me know how it goes.

      You have to configure port forwarding or NAT in your router so when you try to access your cctv from outside your home/office network then your router forwards the data to your cctv dvr & then back to you. You need to download an app for your mobile device or PC/mac , make a note of public ip address or WAN ip address of your home/office router , configure it inside the app , put port number of the dvr , user name and password and it should work. Watch the video with concentration and you would figure it out. If any questions then ask me .

    • @AVMEVideos

      If you pay for a static public IP address to your ISP then it would remain the same otherwise you have to signup with a ddns service to keep track of your dynamic public IP address .

    How to know how many mobile Connectors are in DVR?

    • @AVMEVideos
      @AVMEVideos  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      By logging to the admin section of the DVR . If you have assigned various users with different level of access the data would be displayed in this section & you can add/delete users. How many users are live/active at a given time , this information is dependent on the UI features, make & model of the DVR .
      This can further be configured in a router that supports ACL for granting permission to certain mobile devices or computers to access the IP based DVR ( advance networking users only ).

    This is way to confusing, I have no idea what is going on. I simply want to view my security cameras on my computer, but this is all gibberish.

      I found out that my new computer with Windows 10 does not have Bluetooth, that's why I can't connect.

      you don't need Bluetooth , you need WLan wifi or Ethernet LAN Nic installed which almost all computers are shipped with now a days.

    I can only access my DVR cameras using my phone at my house but if I go to my friend's house I can't access my camera using his wifi

      You need to configure your DVR with home/office router to work/access outside the LAN.

    • @AVMEVideos
      @AVMEVideos  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      that’s why I mentioned either use a static IP provided by ISB or use a service DDNS so if public ip changes you get notifications. hope it helps
