  • After the great success of her Grammy-nominated debut "Traveller", Anoushka Shankar returns with the album »Traces of You«, featuring her half-sister Norah Jones. The album was developed from the notion that everything in the universe leaves an indelible mark -- or a subtle trace -- on everything it encounters. Watch this video and discover it for yourself.

It angers me that talentless twerking pop stars are more popular and admired than someone as ridiculously skilled and talented as Anoushka.
It's so lovely how she is always smiling and down to earth. Musicians like her and her father aren't born every day.

warlike tiger Hindustani music is influenced by Turkish music. Carnatic music retains it's original Indian form. Shut up if you have no idea what you are talking about. Mridangam is older than tabla. Infact it is believed that tabla was created by splitting the mridangam into two halves.

i feel a lot of pain and longing in the music - i have read that she was in the middle of writing this album when her beloved father passed away. i listened to this a lot after my wonderful grandmother passed away in Dec 2015 too. I love all of Anoushka's albums, but this is a personal favourite because the songs carry a lot of emotion, more than words will ever be able to articulate.

Her music flows like a balanced short story cycle: begins with calming reveries, enters a tumultuous rage, and drops the mic in "Chasing Clouds". Never heard a collection of pieces in one go that made me feel so many emotions at once. Comparing her work with Ravi Shankar's is like comparing apples and oranges, and certainly an injustice to her genius.
