Can I just say hats off to the invisible heroes at KEXP that complement every single performance they host with their masterful sound engineering and camera work?
I've been saying this for years. Kexp studios more times than not make the bands sound better live than the recording they put out for us to buy!!! Just saying I agree totally ❤ kexp. A staple of good music in the Pacific northwest!
Sometimes you hear a piece of music and you go "oh yeah, that's what this whole being alive business is for after all". What a treat, thank you so much for this KEXP!
Anoushka Shankar is one of the most talented and beautiful women on the planet and a total strings shredder. Chills down my spine from her tones and skills. Chops of the masters. Just wow.
Oh My! I am here, on a sunny day in Spain, with the mountains ablaze with Almond Tree Blossoms, terraced by the Moro's over 1000 years ago, and I am still struck by beauty. Beauty seems to be infinite and endless, like when you play your Sitar, in the fusion manner that you do. I am so blessed to be here, listening. Thank you, for sharing your gift, and to All your Relations, and Sponsors too!
Her father, the first to bring this genuine musical instrument out of India and make it known, had come to my home country Greece dozens of times, and apart from solo performances, a large part of concerts have always been improvisations with Greek traditional instruments with great Greek traditional musicians....because in Greece, even though it is a small country, each apartment has its own, musical tradition...The result has always been excellent.
She is immense, majestic yet unassuming. The greatest contemporary virtuoso, we are lucky to witness and hear her magnificence. Kudos to KEXP to secure this performance 🙏
@@renakmans3521 it's a pleasure to be clueless in life. It provides the joy of giving spontaneous compliments based on emotional impact instead of the banality of pragmatic analysis. I'd be happily laughed at for that any day 🙏
If you have never seen her live in person, you should. She always has a stellar band and puts on a brilliant performance. This was beautiful, thank you KEXP.
Indeed! I saw her and her ensemle in Octobre 2022, when they were touring accompaning a silent film about the Taj Mahal. I cried tears of joy and admiration.
I saw her live... with her father. It was a concert to remember. It was in Merrillville, Indiana. He was just introducing her to the US -- she was astoundingly talented, and though she had more stamina than he did as he was already quite old by then, when he did play, he was absolute genius.
I went to high school with Anoushka. San Dieguito Academy. She was clearly dedicated and talented back then and has only gotten better. A pleasure seeing her career progress. She's genuinely great.
She has utterly ruined the beauty of that instrument. It is not how it is supposed to be played. Her music is absolutely rubbish. Listen to Vilayat khan once and you will know what I mean here!!!
@thskendjeo134 You took time out of your day just to complain to strangers on the internet about music you dislike. You sound miserable. Go cry your river about how an instrument is "supposed to be played" elsewhere.
Anoushka Shankar is a genius. But then again, so are the other musicians in this ensemble. Incredible, incredible artistry. I have a number of her albums, but to see all this played live is just unbelievable. Thank you for this!!
Her commanding presence…and that smile from deep within…there’s entire galaxies and gandharvas at play among Anoushka and her group. Celestial bliss! 🤩
Anoushka Shankar is a master on sitar. Wonderful when she plays the slow parts with this deep impact on our heart & soul. Her smile is lovely and the other musicians are a top match. Thank you for the music.
That was transcendent and uplifting. Love the connections made to jazz, too. And the clarinet made my day, not even aware where that line is improv is rooted in but it brought ancient Cairo to mind
This appears to be a melting pot of musical styles, Indian, Arab, Jewish, South-East-European, modern Jazz and probably more. And it blends very well. Thank you.
Seen Anoushka twice, once with Ravi. Besides being an amazing musician, when she talked to the audience she was really down-to-Earth. I'd invite her over for dinner any day.
I was just thinking about how much I appreciate the wicked clarinet licks and then Anoushka explained her creative process and I love it even more thanks 🙏
Beautiful and inspiring work with exquisite art delivery. Ravi bore a delightful amalgam of beauty art and emotional magic. Bless you Anoushka and RIP Father Ravi.
Thanks Anoushka for keeping your dads art and music nurtured and revived in modern world with many emerging challenges. Love the authenticity in recognizing refugees from conflicts and failed nations as gold mines . In fact a third of Nobel laurates are immigrants and some refugees . Hopefully will be able to attend your concert in future such an inspiration for current and next generation to stay authentic and open as well practice meditative state perpetually .
first time coming across this channel... been a fan of Anoushka and Ravi Shankar... love the tune and combo.... just look at those fingers move... wow...
Beautiful music. Reminds me a lot of the Greek musical tradition with the mixing of styles and genres, the clarinet, and the rhythms/scales used, plus the sitar sounds like a bouzouki at times, particularly on "Secret Heart". When that song was playing my wife, who is Indian, thought it was a Greek song!
fantastic!!! Shankar's mastery is spectacular, and all the group are incredible musicians and have a very marvellous flow and chemistry together. Amazing production, what a gig!!!! Thank you, blessings.
I'm loving this, never heard them before. She plays the sitar beautifully with such passion ! I'm also quite attracted to the host but that's another story🥰🤭
Booom Shankar! :) Приветы из заснеженной и холодной Матери России солнечной и жаркой Матери Индии, гармонично звучащей в каждом вашем звуке. Ancient Love 🙏
Wow that was absolutely amazing. Always have loved the sitar but she brings it to another level. The other band members are amazing too and they are all incredibly in sync with each other. Fascinating to watch. You always bring on the most talented artists Kexp.
I must admit I was stunned to see her use a looper. I always thought she kept her performances as natural sounding as possible. Her choice of course! In no way changes my admiration and appreciation of her music and mastery of the Sitar. Truly beautiful music.

In my 70s now I have enjoyed her father's music and now I'm lifted by Anouska's ....the legacy continues...Bless
My boat is much the same as yours. 🤠
Igualmente. 🙏
And also Hariprasad Chaurasia.

Music has no boundaries. She is Indian but how she won the heart of world is truly mesmerising🎉❤
Anoushka inherited Pandit Shankar's talent and added her own huge talent to end up with this incredible music style

Well worded summarizations guys, so grateful to share this existence alongside such profound beauty and transcending musical talent.
she is far from a virtuoso... so dang far...

What does that mean ?
You are clueless about music. You might like her stuff but the greatest contemporary virtuoso? She’d laugh at that.

I saw her perform w her dad when he was in his final years. It was like a dream / trance
I've had the pleasure of seeing Anoushka live twice. She just keeps getting better everytime I hear her play.
I'm in love with this woman 😅
She's so graceful in her playing. Beautiful 🥰

she's something special... the product of generations of musical and artistic pedigree but also very much her own person & her own artist
Saw Anoushka and the quintet in London! They were all amazing, that clarinettist though, so phenomenal! Especially in his solo! It was breath-taking.
❤ Finally the goddess pays a visit to KEXP
KEXP is now officially blessed ❤
Such a beautiful family full of love and talent. Blessings to Anoushka and the memories of her amazing father Ravi. ❤️
Absolutely,wonderful.❤
i'm so glad i got to see her live with her father several years ago. what a show. she's just phenomenal.
How lucky for you. I saw Ravi Shankar perform live 25 years ago and am so grateful to have seen this man while alive.
I had an album by Ravi Shankar I didn't want to give it back to the owner I LOVED IT THAT MUCH.
I saw them also together...❤ Unforgettable
That was transcendent and uplifting. Love the connections made to jazz, too. And the clarinet made my day, not even aware where that line is improv is rooted in but it brought ancient Cairo to mind
All is right with the universe ❤ during this performance!!!! ✨🤩
I absolutely love their joy, playing together. This is what music is.
Amazing ! Magical and so Deep sound of M. Ravi Shankar modernised with hight technical level ✨ He must be so proud

What a comfortable is Anoushka's sitar. She plays very softly and all the chords can wrapp and drive you through the best journey.

Just stunning. The clarinetist has such a gorgeous tone.
Listening to the sitar is euphoric
Tell you what…. when Anoushka plays, even the universe stops to listen.
