Love the videos Brother, you have no idea how many memories you bring back, THANK YOU. I raced C.Z. and the Maico was my arch rival. My girlfriend and I recently drove up to New England to visit my family, and your Museum was on the to-do list, very unfortunately timing was off and we couldn't make it there. I have a small Dyna performance shop and I know that we would have had a lot to talk about. I knew the guys from Maroney's back in the day, even bought Pats Husqvarna his personal MX bike, which I converted to a flat tracker. SEE YOU IN THE WIND, GOD BLESS. 🇺🇸🏍🇺🇸🏍🇺🇸🏍🇺🇸
They must be pretty rare if you only found one other. I’m sure there are more out there somewhere because I have one just like this one I’m about to go through. It was my fathers, purchased in the crate and put together in our shop. I got it out of his barn where’s it has sat along with three CZs that we also purchased in the crates and put together and rode, (oh the cosmoline is is a bitch). These bikes sat in the barn roughly 35 years and I have rebuilt the CZs and ready to take on the Maico. My father just passed away and it will be a tribute to him to hear it run again.
I had a friend that had a pristine 1971 ( I think it was a 71) 503 and It tickled him to death to see me race that bike but that thing liked to have raddled every 🦷 tooth in my head.
Just missed a 71 400 square bore .mint original for a gift of 1800 Canadian dollars. It was advertised on vintage honda site and was gone in half an hour
This model Maico I seen in a shop on the showroom floor very unique model with a coffin style alloy tank very rare and I love it the unique 1970s motocross German kraftmanship the engine very unique style and to own is another beautifull dream motocross bike
Shouldn't have been scary. The 400 motor was practically made of sweet cream. Just smooth predictable power from idle to the top. My Husky 250 has scared the bejeezus out of me far more than my 440 Maico has. It's not more powerful, but all the power it has comes swinging at you all at once! The Maico is just V8 smooooth.
It's like a never ending motogasm at your place.
I love these vintage Motocross bikes. I also love vintage sport bikes.
AMEN to that goodness

I think Maico's had the clutch with the stacked convex washer spring deal. I had an 1969 360 at some point.

Rode a 400AW once. Shoulda been AWE because it was scary. And you didnt have to be 6ft tall to ride them
