It would be cool if this data pack had a chance to give you the "You may not sleep now, there are monsters nearby" message while you are on peaceful mode.
I've been playing with this mod ever since this video came out and while I don't play on peaceful, Herobrine does prevent you from sleeping. There have been multiple times where I try to sleep in my super cozy bedroom in my protected mansion, only to get that message and having no choice but to go make sure no monsters got in. Every time I find nothing, and try to sleep again with no issues. Every time, it freaks me out more than the jumpscares in this mod.
I'm so used to only seeing people who at least know a good bit about the game and its meta that its really a nice change of pace to see someone who plays the game a lot more casually. Even if the people I generally watch aren't necessarily speedrunning, they know how all the mechanics work and are caught up on all of the updates, but here the librarian is talking about how he's not exactly sure how certain mechanics work, like the purpose of copper or how critical hits are landed. It's fun to watch him learn more about minecraft in its current state
i think it's just the fact he's a veteran Minecraft player and the majority of the time he played was before sprinting was even added so he's just doing what he's used to.
Watching people who are used to playing older versions of Minecraft discover modern Minecraft features is really sweet to me honestly, even with the spooky data pack
the thing I like about this one compared to literally every other 'Herobrine' mod is that it doesn't go for the "herobrine attacks and kills you constantly and otherwise makes the game unplayable" its a nice change of pace having him just be benign harmless 'pranks' that only screw with your senses and not your gameplay
The legend started as a entity that would invade your singleplayer world and mess around, get contact with you, watch you constantly and drain your sanity, until corrupting your world and maybe your minecraft files. This mod creates the atmosphere we should have gotten if it was real, playing it normally and then some weird things start happening THAT SHOULDN'T BE HAPPENING, not the type "OMG HEROBRINE IS COMING WITH A SWORD" but a "Wait, didn't I put a door here? What was that sound?"
its all about luck you may see a cave filled to the brim with diamonds, treasures that a man could only dream of or...you may find a cave filled with nothing but a creature crawling on the floor inches away from your face watching your every move as your heart begins to beat faster and faster
I also love how the video doesn't have background music, or atleast not any that i can hear. It makes the video/experience very much more immersive. I can say that these videos want to make me put it in fullscreen even if it's horror.
So much better than videos that have 5 second jumpcuts, with obnoxious music, and arrogant commentary with some hyperactive 20 something guy shouting into a microphone. This just feels classier.
Did I just got sent back to 2010s? Because this radients it just how the game is played slow, how you speak while your playing the game, combine with herobrine existing. Loved it.
I love the third encounter. It's so authentic and realistic, the way that he doesn't notice until afterwards in editing is so genuine and freaky. Even though it's just a pack, it's still terrifying just to see him out of the corner of your eye!
The third was so awesome, I loved that replay added in editing. Really classically fun spookypasta sorta stuff lol. I think the first was great too - him being so preoccupied with finding the source of the monster noises, the quick glimpse we see as he turned around to exit his cabin and him not even noticing, but then him seeing the zombie on fire and being like oh, that’s what I was looking for. It’s a bit eerie seeing him concerned with something else mundanely spooky and then turning to a glimpse of herobrine (!!) but completely looking past it to see the zombie mob and thus feeling a sense of resolution and returned familiarity at finding the source of the sounds and understanding his surroundings once more while we feel the opposite. He feels put back at ease in the same moment that the audience is unnerved by the realization that he’s not alone and isn’t even aware of it, but can’t communicate that to him. Then in the second encounter - the first HE notices - he says things have begun without knowing that they already HAD. Cool stuff!
That's the reason why most of these or back in the days of herobrine sightings, these types of sightings failed, they somehow always noticed that something was off or saw herobrine
I really enjoy his commentary, he has a unique vocabulary and style that I’ve never seen with a TH-camr before; he seems to be a very analytical person and makes note of everything
@@thinginground5179 that's precisely why i enjoy his gameplay so much, he never rushes. he's slow, smart, punctual all the time and corrects his mistakes

39:19 actually isn't Steve / Herobrine, though at first I did think it was. The way the sky looked at that exact moment looks very similar to Steve / Herobrine.
24:08 this is the peak of horror mods like this, not too up in your face that you'll 100% notice but not too hidden to the point that you'll barely see it
Ive been playing this game for 9 years and I’ve seen it’s TH-cam community die out into badly made clickbait stuff… you’re a breath of fresh air, your innocent and sophisticated commentary, your theories about the game, it feels like watching someone trying to actually survive in a dangerous and unknown environment, this is so awesome, please keep this series up
Hermitcraft, paulsoarsjr, lukethenotable, forgelabs, grian, vinesause. Hell even pewdiepie put out a surprisingly decent let’s play. The good stuff is still there and still really good.
I know! It's like the old days of Minecraft TH-cam, no clickbait, no big fancy mods or builds, no pandering to kids. Just someone posting a fun video with a bit of suspense.
man, i though 9 years ago was like 2011 and i said "wtf is this mans that old to play the betas", but then i counted and its 2014-2015 when the 1.7.10 was released and goddamn the time flies by
Honestly, I feel like it's scarier every time you didn't notice him. Like in front of your house when you first walked out, or watching you from afar at the shoreline.
I genuinely believe this: what makes Minecraft so creepy and eerie to play alone was this Herobrine trauma from back then. It installed genuine fear into us young players before, which is why we always assume that something is watching us when playing Minecraft.
@@anderto4 Unfortunately, my sisters (and little brother years later) are too smart for that stuff when we were younger. ... On the other hand, they've all managed to spook me on numerous occasions. Both in-game and IRL.
I think one the the scariest parts is noticing things he doesn’t notice. Not just things like hero brine in the background, but that one sphere of leaves that he walked by probably thinking was a tree. Makes me paranoid to how many things we both could’ve missed by now.
20:50 For the briefest of frame captures. That's the kind of thing that i imaged would haunt me the most. Just little glances in the corner of the eye, unsure if what i saw was real. That's the Lovecraft-type stuff you always find in games like this
This was interesting. Back when I was extremely young, I attempted to "summon" Herobrine in my survival world. While nothing really happened I always felt like something lurked in the shadow, stalking me. Especially in the caves I would always recall hearing footsteps that aren't mine. A lot of children's games have that sinister tone so many other games don't, when you play by yourself you start to actually notice how uncomfortable a game feels to play by yourself. For all these years my paranoia for any uninvited guests joining my world never really left.
I remember when I first heard of Herobrine. There was a rumour about whenever there'd be a lot of animals in one spot, that means that Herobrine is present, or something along those lines. I just played on Singleplayer afterwards, in creative not to mention, but then I started noticing way too many chickens spawning around the tiny little area I was in and I completely freaked out, refusing to play the game for a good bit afterwards. It's amazing how much some rumour can get to you.
I just randomly got recommended this channel and im in love with the vibes!! this feels like let's plays i watched during 2013 where its less "insane editing to keep your attention as long as possible" and more "just talking to someone"
@@moneyman4894 Yeah, it is very meditative and I feel like I'm having an actual conversation with the creator. But sadly those TH-camrs, who have a loud and obnoxious voice and whose videos also look like an acid trip, get the most recognition. It's because they mastered the art of constant stimulation and taking control of their viewship's decreasing attention span.
Weirdly enough, there's something really refreshing about watching a minecraft let's play from someone that isn't a super well-versed like minecraft tuber/player. It's very relaxing just watching you go about figuring things out and taking your time. Clicked this video on a whim expecting the usual minecraft youtuber fare, but so far this has been very cozy viewing. Ya know, until the first time I caught Herobrine staring at you and, by proxy, me. The fact you yourself didn't even seem to notice the first time he popped up is so stellar on the mod's part. I was so invested in your old-school minecrafting that I often forgot this was a horror mod!
I swear, Librarian is one of the most wholesome youtubers. not only does he take things slow so that it's an atmospheric experience rather than hyper like popular mc youtubers, but he actually sacrifices iron he could have used on a pickaxe in order to get wool from sheep without having to kill them. it's so cute. Also, the tree replanting. I do that too, i plant every sapling. far too many people run through a forest with a diamond axe and just turn the entire thing into an empty wasteland save for the taller trees they didn't bother cutting everything from.
8:08 I'm pretty sure those are the masts of a boat that spawned underground 16:00 The overgrown pyramid 18:30 Building the cabin 20:48 Displaced cave noises begin and first encounter (thanks oogly for spotting that!) 22:43 The second encounter 24:06 and 24:47 The third encounter 25:12 Sign of a home invasion 25:26 Cave noises 29:00 Fourth encounter 34:03 EXCUSE ME 35:35 Drowned 36:44 Cave noise 37:20 Fifth encounter 39:19 In the doorway 44:47 Ah, yes. 8:08 I think that those "masts" are actually structures generated by the mod, because I remember seeing something similar in some old playthroughs with the og Herobrine mod
@@FiatUno2003 That's correct actually. It was a telltale sign back in the day that Herobrine was present, barren trees and overturned logs littering once vibrant forests.
One thing about watching this is we'll sometimes notice things the player doesn't. It gives it a very horror experience type feel just because we're sitting here like, "IT'S BEHIND YOU." And I think that's beautiful especially for a mod that isn't directly all up in your face. Edit: "These windows were such a bad idea." *Immediately adds more*
i love when youtubers start their intro like how you did, calmly, no trailer, no high enthusiastic shouting, i wish there are more minecraft youtubers like you, especially in this day and age
I like how laid back you are. You remind me of old Minecraft TH-cam. Chill, slow play through, playing an iconic mod about a legendary creepypasta. Thank you. I haven’t been able to relax for a long time and your video finally did that for me. will be watching more
24:08 he was on the hillside. I absolutely love stuff like that, I’ve looked through mod videos throughout the years and I always thought the Herobrine mods were just really cheesy and way too in your face to actually build any sort of tension. The fact that this mod will have him sometimes just off in the distance silently watching you is so cool and it perfectly captures the mood of the creepypastas, the subtlety is a lot more effective than him just popping up in your face constantly imo. Edit: oh, a few seconds later he cut the vid and did a playback lol. I see he noticed it while editing
@@albanmarku6743 to be fair, you can turn that off you can have just lurking enabled so if he spawns it's only ever a good distance away, or i think stalking so it's always up in your face
I will never forget the haunting experience of mining alone and having that feeling of dread, as a kid sometimes I even shut the game off completely out of fear
i will tell you an hauting experience, i was playing minecraft on *PEACEFUL* mode with *NO MOBS* i was mining until *I HEAR FOOTSTEPS* keep in mind that i was on *SINGLEPLAYER* and also i was playing on phone, so it couldt be a *CAVE SOUND,* So i went to my base and trapped my self in there, the footsteps followed me, then i left because i was too scared.
i think lowering the render distance just so you can have the fog again would make the game a lot more creepy and similar to the old eery minecraft alpha
Y'all remember Nether Core Reactors? Found an old iPad I used as a kid, it has an old version of Minecraft on it still. When I was a kid I liked to just cover worlds in the "nether towers", it was surreal walking around and looking at them after so many years.
I just want to take notes on various occurrences and such within the video. Footsteps with uncertain source will be disregarded. Timestamps of note: 8:03 - wooden formation, may be unrelated to the mod 13:38 - dawn of the third day; Herobrine can begin appearing 16:00 - a mossy cobblestone pyramid; a signature of Herobrine 20:50 - first sighting I noticed; visible for only ~8 frames; accompanied by "Sighting Noise"; was not noticed by The Librarian 22:47 - The Librarian notices Herobrine for the first time; visible for ~34 frames 24:07 - ~87 frame sighting; Librarian must have been very distracted trying to figure out the food situation ( replayed at 24:47 ) 24:57 - the torch that was inside is noticeably gone (Disappearing Torches phenomenon); 25:12 - Librarian notices 29:02 - ~10 frame sighting 34:03 - Ghost Door phenomenon 37:20 - ~30 frame sighting 48:40 - Disappearing Torches phenomenon 54:43 - Herobrine spawns facing the wrong way and turns around lol; ~49 frames 55:16 - ~31 frame sighting (Creeping Mechanic) 57:05 - ~17 frame sighting 1:01:25 - ~35 frame sighting with prominent Sighting Noise
This is why I love minecraft so much. Sometimes you got a creepy and comfy atmosphere coming from the game with its ambient music helping it, specialy in old minecraft versions Edit: you can make charcoal by cooking wood
56:06 "You guys are the other haunting in this game" This reminds me of a strange phenomenon I encountered on an old server I used to admin for myself and some friends. Years ago (between 2011-2013) I was the admin of a private server I had hosted for myself, my brother and some friends. I can't recall what version it started on, but it was before endermen were added. We used Craftbukkit (and later Spigot) for various plugins to help with creative endeavors and other fun stuff. We each had our own town/city we just built up as our own. My town was a village I decided to secure and improve, complete with some sprite art around the exterior perimeter my brother made for me as a gift. I often liked to just wander or fly around admiring the scenery, or sit atop the church steeple or my own tower and view the area we'd worked so hard to make what it was. This server lasted for several years and many updates, which brings me to why that comment I quoted reminded me of this: There was an enderman who used to appear outside of my village, usually in nearly the same spot each time. And it was just _staring at me._ Whenever I saw the enderman there, it was staring at me. After a moment, it would wander away (sort of like how Herobrine can run away in the mod when you spot him.) This also happened in one my friend's areas where he was building towering sprite art over our long distance minecart tram system railway. He was showing me his towering art and behind me in the distance I spotted an enderman, _staring at me._ Then it ran away and teleported off into the distance as usual. Many players were young when they first played Minecraft. I was in my early/mid 20s at the time. The Herobrine stuff was never a "thing" for me, just another creepypasta from yet another popular game. I kept up with update notes each release and watched people talking about game features on the regular, so a lot of the stuff people claimed was caused by "Herobrine" was already explained logically and I understood why others might believe them to be some creepy feature. That and the old "monster" mob you could summon in older versions which spawned a hostile Steve entity made a lot of the Herobrine stuff make sense to me logically. I understood why that enderman appeared where and when it did. Insufficient cave lighting beneath the hill where it likely teleported up from, being within spawning radius, etc. But even so, seeing the enderman at the edge of my view, _staring at me_ and then running off into the distance... it always made me feel unnerved. I completely understand where that feeling of being "not alone" comes from, especially back then. I understand why Herobrine became a thing even if it was just tricks of the mind. I'll never forget that enderman who haunted my world. Haunted _me._ (That story told at 58:21 gave me similar chills.)
I love the pacing in this. And you were just discovering and trying out the new modern MC features here, too. Combined with the minimal editing and audible keyboard sounds, this kinda feels like an MC video from the early 2010s.
Yeah, they did a pass updating all the textures a while back. The reason for the ore changes in particular is, every ore now looks different structurally, not just in its color. That's a lot better for people with sight problems like color blindness. So, I think that's a good change. The only ore that still uses its original texture is diamond, because of course that's considered iconic to the game.
I love how positive he is about all the changes. So much better compared to all the negativity around every little addition a lot of Minecraft players give.
@@avelynn5976 im ok with new changes, I just wish one day they bring back the old textures. (Yes I know that the old texture pack exists, but it doesn't apply to items like iron ore.)
I just don't like it when they add new things that have zero impact on the game. Things like all the new mobs which do literally nothing (pandas, axolotls, etc). Also things like copper, which is extremely common yet almost entirely useless. Why add something that does nothing? It makes a simple game more complicated for nothing in return
@@jaffa3717 Copper was absolutely amazing for any type of builder. Panda's are great just for vibes. same for axolotl. why can't a game have collectibles?
@@TinyLadyKris Minecraft is already full of collectibles. Like half of the game consists of collecting stuff. Stuff that is actually useful, unlike copper, pandas, etc
You bring something very special, and that’s the feel of old minecraft gameplay. A simple concept, no nutty speed running tactics being used, long videos, relaxed gameplay, a calm tone. Used to be super common in early minecraft days, so it brings a lot of nostalgia oddly to see something like this again. Subscribed
I saw this video and it led me to the mod. I've been playing through it myself, but with a few extra things. I've turned my render distance way down, enabled the programmer art, and capped my frame rate to 30 to more give the ambiance of those old alpha days that the creepy pasta came from. It has so far been a very potent horror experience and I have you to thank
So excited to watch this from the comments. Minecraft used to be super spooky to the point i couldn't stand singleplayer because I'd be so scared. It got even worse after the Herobrine stuff started. You hit it on the nail with the "feeling of dread" stuff. I grew out of it as the game got more familiar, but I still feel it sometimes. Especially whenever I find some of those weird world generations. Excited to experience some of that scary nostalgia through this.
Legit, same, except I never grew out of it. I've played actual horror games that don't unnerve me as much as minecraft. Something about it just unsettles me deeply, even in creative mode I just somehow feel unsafe. I remember walling myself into a glass box in the sky, feeling this creeping dread even though there was absolutely no threat. I'm a grownass man now, yet something about this game just sets off alarms in my subconscious that makes it impossible to play for long. I just cannot mine or explore caves without feeling creeped out, and even being on the surface juat gives me vad vibes.
This might be a strange thing to say but your voice and manner of speaking reminds me a lot of the person i used to watch that got me into minecraft back in, i think 2011, and had a huge impact on me. When you're hiding in your shelter talking about the mob noises outside it felt just like the start of his minecraft letsplay, where he did the exact same thing. The nostalgia is palpable, so thank you for that
This series has my heart. Coming back and watching everything from the very beginning after watching the most recent part (The Movie, technically "part 24" at the time of writing this comment) absolutely hits different. It feels like an old playthrough that I watched as a kid. There's this nostalgia to it, even though this series began in 2023 and isn't even a year old yet! This has been one of the wildest rides I've been on since the days of Shadow of Israphel and other classic Minecraft series. It's easily become my all-time favourite series and I'm currently on my fourth re-watch. Love ya, Librarian! 💛🤲
"I don't remember what to *do* with you guys" 1.) Keep a *few* two-block tall cubbies around, until you're ready to properly civilize/tame an area, with these things in mind. If your aim *or* lag is bad, they can't reach....I think it's two blocks deep. 2.) They can't walk on water. Keep a bucket handy. 3.) You keeping music off is a strength for any game, in any combat scenario, especially so VS Teleporting enemies(Endermen). They teleport literally anywhere before rushing back in, but they'll *rarely* teleport so close that you won't hear their footsteps closing in with time to turn and strike. Obviously there wasn't much you could've done in the scenario you mentioned that in, this time, shy of being better on the defense than he was on the Offense. Just a note in general. This series helps me sleep until I numb to it; Lovin' whatcha do, King.
As soon as I saw the 22 Logs in his hotbar without any wooden tools, I knew this guy doesn't rush things as most people do nowadays... The perspective on this game has changed rapidly over the years as we learn how to master it. The days when we knew nothing as we loaded into our first "Let's play survival world" were truly the best as we didn't know what lay ahead. This mysteriously vast open-world game had intrigued us all.
If you enjoy this guy I would also suggest ManlyBadassHero's channel, he's very reserved on his commentary and actually lets the atmosphere settle in instead of making noise all the time. I really like both of these guys, they're the perfect channels to watch past midnight, just before going to sleep.
@@CableSpark872 wanted to second the recommendation for manly, he makes a lot of deadpan jokes and plays a lot of smaller games i’ve never heard of (and sometimes he’s one of the only people playing a game i really like lol)
Thank you so much for this video, Librarian! Not only vanilla (or near-vanilla, as in the case of this video) Minecraft have much potential to horror, but also you just presented us with a gem that isn't from the "bubble" of CurseForge/Modrinth, that is the references for anyone looking for mods. This is like a "off-grid" mod almost... I wonder if there is more mods like this that we don't know just because it isnt available on those platforms...
It’s so scary how subtle some of those hauntings can be like at 20:50 you can barely catch a glimpse of hero eine before he disappears with a cave noise
Even in my 20's I can't shake the feeling of being followed or worrying I'm gonna round a corner in a cave and come across something I'm not supposed to.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE how quickly he disappears! It makes the watching experience so much more engaging, not just because of little audio/visual clues that get you into paranoia before the "attack" but also because i can not only get scared by the mod, but i will also have to continue watching with the knowledge that there's something ALREADY stalking you (and being quite aggressive with it) AND you didn't even notice the danger wich may get you unprepared if the "monster" attacks! P.s. Already noted around 4 appearances that Librarian didn't notice, and I don't know how to express the feeling of "HE'S RIGHT THERE!! RUN YOU IDIOT" im getting! Would love to see something similar!
dude. i have such an eye for small detail even the tiniest and i didnt even notice the first one! younger me would be terrified knowing herobrine was literally there! that shit scared me and it still gives me the heebie jeebies.
Why the hell is this so nostalgic? The way he plays survival is just so so calm and relaxing. Side note- Its been awhile since Ive seen someone legit accidently look at an enderman lol
The fact that he didn't even notice the one at 20:49 I think makes it SIGNIFICANTLY creepier. Gives me chills Update: Apparently there are a couple more sightings like that one, and my goodness are they terrifying
Having watched this entire series once, starting it again for a 2nd time, and recently been playing Minecraft with this mod, I feel like the thing that makes this mod so special is the fact that it answers your question of "am I alone in this game?" Almost everyone I know who has played Minecraft or similar single player games has felt at least once like someone or something else was in the world with you. This mod, to me, while actually making it so you *aren't* alone in the game, makes it that much creepier knowing that fact. I could play single player all I wanted, maybe get spooked by a cave noise or two, mistake a sheep out of sight for a player's footsteps, and generally have my mind play tricks on me and make me think something is there when it isn't. Playing From The Fog however, makes me appreciate the game even more. It makes me genuinely question whether or not I saw Herobrine or not, and when I actually do and am certain of it, it makes that sense of not being alone all the more apparent. My favorite moments are when I haven't heard or seen Herobrine around for a while, only for him to suddenly pop up like "surprise! Did you think I left?" Or hearing my dogs whining and growling at something I can't even see, but I know is there. I've had two instances now of him staring at me through my windows in the distance, just far enough away for me to see his glowing white eyes, but not close enough to be obvious. This mod tops all other "horror mods" because it isn't scary on purpose. It's scary because you make it scary.
It would be considerably better if the Herobrine sightings in this mod were more subtle, rather than always in your face. That's what makes the audible aspects of the mod creepy, because it's like something is stalking you, rather than just a generic mob.
This brings back a lot of nostalgia and that old childhood fear of not being alone on your single-player world. Very creepy-comfy. I hope we get to see more of this! I also understand what you mean about the default red-bed not being default anymore, it bothered me a lot when I stared to play Minecraft again. If you use red wool you can make a normal looking bed. And copper can be used to make spyglasses and lightning rods, though you also need amethyst shards to make the spyglass.
Always a joy seeing a returning player comeback to minecraft and discovering all the changes over the past years. Hope you continue to find enjoyment out of minecraft, even if it's just to revisit every once in a while.
I just discovered your channel and not even 5 minutes into this video I subscribed. Your voice is so relaxing and the way you take your time to explore and progress slowly in the game is actually very entertaining. For the first time in a while I actually enjoyed watching someone’s gameplay.
I think the coolest part of this playthrough is how you've not played survival Minecraft in a good while, so you cannot be completely sure of which things are vanilla or modded.
One thing I love about your channel is how immersed you get in the game. A lot of channels like to make a joke and laugh all the time, which is good, but it's nice to see someone who tries to go along with things
Love how you do your builds! They remind me of how everyone used to build back in alpha. Sure it may not be the prettiest but it gets the job done and has its own unique charm
I really hope you continue this series, I'm so invested! I love how you aren't rushing things, this video feels really cozy and like a genuine playthrough. The jumpscares are also hilarious lmao
I loved watching this. It seems like you're an original player who hadn't kept up with the updates which made for really interesting gameplay. I loved the reaction to hearing the Drowned haha and honestly you dying to the enderman brought me back to when I had just learned about them. The slow pace and slight, yet constantly looming, eerieness thought the episode kept me a lot more immersed than I thought I would have been I hope there is/will be a part 2! I haven't looked so there very well could be lol.
If you go into options and edit your textures to "programmer art" then you can use the old minecraft textures, I think that would really bring out the old creepypasta emersion!
Loved this video so much! Really invoked a feeling of dread that made me feel like I was 11, convinced I would encounter the exact brief, terrifying, and sometimes entirely unnoticed scares that saturate this video. Hoping for more episodes!
I love how you take the time to appreciate every little detail of this game. So many people take these details for granted and continue to ask more and more from the updates. Do not get me wrong; none of the recent updates have done anything spectacular, but that doesn't change the fact that there are plenty of amazing features that are already in the game.
God I love this. Its not trying to be this insane creepy thing, just showing what a bit of unsettling can do to a game like this, where you can already easily feel unsettled
20:48 is a single frame of herobrine in some tall grass. (Right side of screen) Edit: Found another sighting he did not see, at 24:07. (Sand on the left)
My most fav part about that video, is that hes playing it slow, and talking about cool stuff, not some boring ones, its cool also that he sometimes dosent see the herobrine and yk
A couple tips for Endermen, Librarian: 1. They are neutral as long as you don't look at their faces or hurt them. 2. They HATE water. It damages them. Stand in a large enough area of water so they won't be able to reach you from where you stand. 3. Endermen are three blocks tall, so if there's no water nearby for you to hide in, just dig out a two-block high crevice to hide in and damage the attacking enderman from.
librarian! we need more of this. it's so good. I've been looking for content like this forever. please turn this into an ongoing series! it's going to bring a lot of the "creepy minecraft vibe" fans into your channel!
Dude, theres something that I love in the way you play, its so comfortable. Some things gave me a wave of nostalgia, the pillar to mark a structure, the cube house, the constant and irrational fear of the night, and the one line plantation. I remember playing minecraft on the ps3 with my brother, on the dvd case there was a photo of a boat, I thought it looked cool, so the 7 year old me built a small boat, it was not beautiful, it was chunky but I made it and I loved it, a core memory for sure Tell me about your stories here!!
your reaction the first time herobrine appeared being the most emotion i had seen you show thus far was priceless; i dont know what i was expecting but i think the way you suddenly dropped your nonchalant demeanor scared me more than seeing herobrine show up beside you
What version have you played this on? Also, some tips since I see that you've come back to Minecraft after a long time: 1. Make a shield. It's great against skeletons, creepers and mobs in generals 2. A farmland will be watered if it's 4 or less blocks away from water. So you can really upgrade your farm to be the most effective 3. Armor is really import in the new updates 4. Version 1.17 and 1.18 overhauled caves and mountains... Copper is a resource only for decorating. Also, iron mainly spawns around the deepslate zone, or Y coordinates of 0 to -10
iron mainly spawns in mountains, actually. higher up. copper isn't purely for decorating, you can make a lightning rod with it that can help with preventing your wooden builds getting set on fire by lightning strikes, and you can make a spyglass if you have amethyst shards, which is very useful for seeing long distances
I like this mod, because this is how Herobrine ACTUALLY felt, on the 360 at least. I feel like I had a Herobrine encounter once when I was young playing with my younger brother (yea yea "hE sAw HeRoBrInE" and "He's young"), to me, it was very well real. I was messing around with him in creative mode, trying to tame fast horses just to be speedy and he kept naming them all dinnerbone so I moved a few blocks away to spawn my own (we were playing splitscreen) and I turn to see the back of a Steve skin, look away, register what I saw, and look back to find nothing. I dropped the controller and ran to my room, my brother later trying to comfort me, saying he killed him and he dropped cookies or something. I didn't really believe him, but I became rather wary of playing on my own, and I can still swear when I used to play on the 360 that I'd see the back or side of a Steve skin every now and then. Some may call fake, and yea it may as well have been my scatterbrained mind, but I think it was real. Who knows, maybe others feel they've encountered him too :D
I had PTSD watching this video and seeing those pyramids at the start and the leaves missing off the trees. I knew what was coming well apart from the thumbnail.
It would be cool if this data pack had a chance to give you the "You may not sleep now, there are monsters nearby" message while you are on peaceful mode.
Oh god...

Same, came for the horror mod, stayed for the wholesome vibes.
the thing I like about this one compared to literally every other 'Herobrine' mod is that it doesn't go for the "herobrine attacks and kills you constantly and otherwise makes the game unplayable"
its a nice change of pace having him just be benign harmless 'pranks' that only screw with your senses and not your gameplay

This reminds me of a strange phenomenon I encountered on an old server I used to admin for myself and some friends. This server lasted for several years and many updates, which brings me to why that comment I quoted reminded me of this:
There was an enderman who used to appear outside of my village, usually in nearly the same spot each time. And it was just _staring at me._
Whenever I saw the enderman there, it was staring at me.
Haunted _me._
(That story told at 58:21 gave me similar chills.)
and i believe the official name for a group of endermen is a haunting
I love the pacing in this. And you were just discovering and trying out the new modern MC features here, too. Combined with the minimal editing and audible keyboard sounds, this kinda feels like an MC video from the early 2010s.

It has so far been a very potent horror experience and I have you to thank
did you use an old texture/resource pack too? the old door sound effects get me every time
So excited to watch this from the comments.
This is creepy. Imagine if you are playing minecraft as a child alone in the dark, and you see herobrine.
As a kid I got so scared of the herobrine copypasta i was too afraid to even touch a cave or step foot outside of my house in MC lol
Secretly downloading this mod to your little brothers PC
Hahaha evil
@@rokyhawk6753 lol yeah without him knowing.
@SteveDC101 call him crazy when he tells you about it, delete it while he isnt looking before he shows it to you
@@VirtuaVirtue no, that'll be too hard. It'll be funnier if you ignore Herobrine like he was never there.
Quick note, shields are very very important in newer versions, please look it up so you run lesser risk of dying
Awesome video btw
True, and they cost only 1 iron to craft, i almost choked when he crafted boots instead of a shield
"I don't remember what to *do* with you guys"
1.) Keep a *few* two-block tall cubbies around, until you're ready to properly civilize/tame an area, with these things in mind.
This mysteriously vast open-world game had intrigued us all.
i gotta say, you're one of, if not the only guy on youtube that makes playing horror games oddly soothing
Your voice and playstyle are so relaxing. The reaction at 37:00 was also totally priceless.
Alright, I'll watch more!
It’s so scary how subtle some of those hauntings can be like at 20:50 you can barely catch a glimpse of hero eine before he disappears with a cave noise
I would love to see more of this from you, especially since there's a ton of vanilla stuff added to the game that's downright terrifying
it would be awesome to see him exploring an ancient city
Even in my 20's I can't shake the feeling of being followed or worrying I'm gonna round a corner in a cave and come across something I'm not supposed to.
Ikr. Its so fucked dude.
Would love to see something similar!
dude. i have such an eye for small detail even the tiniest and i didnt even notice the first one! younger me would be terrified knowing herobrine was literally there! that shit scared me and it still gives me the heebie jeebies.
the way you speak is lovely. it's nerdy and i love it.
Why the hell is this so nostalgic? The way he plays survival is just so so calm and relaxing. Side note- Its been awhile since Ive seen someone legit accidently look at an enderman lol

22:46
24:06
25:15 torch on right wall gone
25:26 noise without sighting?
29:01

The fact that he didn't even notice the one at 20:49 I think makes it SIGNIFICANTLY creepier. Gives me chills
Update: Apparently there are a couple more sightings like that one, and my goodness are they terrifying
@@ScareSans I agree, chilling

God that's so good
no sighting at 15:58, i replayed it multiple times even going frame by frame, nothing there

You should really consider turning this into a series!
watching this is like time traveling back to 2016 youtube but with modern minecraft😭such nostalgic memories and vibe, I love it
This is genuinely so nostalgic and calming to watch, I’ve never seen this channel before but it’s already become one of my favorites
same i just found this channel on gmod and portal content
I love seeing how curious Librarian gets when he discovers something from the newer updates lol, it's a nice Comfy to the Creep of the world
wasn't expecting this. never expected this, but i'm already loving it! nice job librarian.
At around 8:10, you find some weird trees. I don't know if that was the mod or a ship wreck under the ground, which sometimes happens
Random map generation
It would be considerably better if the Herobrine sightings in this mod were more subtle, rather than always in your face. That's what makes the audible aspects of the mod creepy, because it's like something is stalking you, rather than just a generic mob.
The scream after you placed the glass windows was so pure ive never heard a more pure scream from a youtuber playing a horror mod
Edit: I forgot to say Subscribed
I really like that single frame of Herobrine at like 20:49,made me question my eyes for a bit.
The slow pace and slight, yet constantly looming, eerieness thought the episode kept me a lot more immersed than I thought I would have been
I hope there is/will be a part 2! I haven't looked so there very well could be lol.
This video was what sparked all minecraft horror mods to rise in popularity. We should be thanking this guy
Yes he needs to be noticed more
If you go into options and edit your textures to "programmer art" then you can use the old minecraft textures, I think that would really bring out the old creepypasta emersion!
Loved this video so much! Really invoked a feeling of dread that made me feel like I was 11, convinced I would encounter the exact brief, terrifying, and sometimes entirely unnoticed scares that saturate this video. Hoping for more episodes!
I love the fact that it's slow and silent, it brings a sense of anxiety that I haven't felt in a horror-thriller genre in a while.
I am BEGGING you to continue this series, it is bringing back every fear I had as a kid and I LOVE it!
It's so cool knowing all the new features when this guy doesn't. He approaches certain things with curiosity that made me super on edge
20:48 is a single frame of herobrine in some tall grass. (Right side of screen)
Edit: Found another sighting he did not see, at 24:07. (Sand on the left)
yooo i didn’t even notice him in the grass thanks man
@@LordLongHands some of them are hard to see lol
My most fav part about that video, is that hes playing it slow, and talking about cool stuff, not some boring ones, its cool also that he sometimes dosent see the herobrine and yk
Came for the funny creepypasta man but honestly. i like your commentary style. subbed :]
A couple tips for Endermen, Librarian:
I also learned that maintaining eye contact stops them from moving
librarian! we need more of this. it's so good.
I remember playing minecraft on the ps3 with my brother, on the dvd case there was a photo of a boat, I thought it looked cool, so the 7 year old me built a small boat, it was not beautiful, it was chunky but I made it and I loved it, a core memory for sure
Tell me about your stories here!!
"These windows were a bad idea" *Proceeds to add a skylight*
your reaction the first time herobrine appeared being the most emotion i had seen you show thus far was priceless; i dont know what i was expecting but i think the way you suddenly dropped your nonchalant demeanor scared me more than seeing herobrine show up beside you
What version have you played this on?
Also, some tips since I see that you've come back to Minecraft after a long time:
1. Make a shield. It's great against skeletons, creepers and mobs in generals
2. A farmland will be watered if it's 4 or less blocks away from water. So you can really upgrade your farm to be the most effective
3. Armor is really import in the new updates
4. Version 1.17 and 1.18 overhauled caves and mountains... Copper is a resource only for decorating. Also, iron mainly spawns around the deepslate zone, or Y coordinates of 0 to -10
Supplementary hint because you didnt mention it, the world now goes down to y= -64 and deepslate begins to generate at about 0
@@crazynachos4230 yep! and -58 is diamond level
iron mainly spawns in mountains, actually. higher up. copper isn't purely for decorating, you can make a lightning rod with it that can help with preventing your wooden builds getting set on fire by lightning strikes, and you can make a spyglass if you have amethyst shards, which is very useful for seeing long distances
5 he never doing this again
People always gotta backseat when it comes to MFin Minecraft.
Bro I just found this channel and I feel as if I could listen to this guy speak for hours. What a nice voice
One of the main reasons they changed the textures for ores was to make them easier to identify for people with color blindness.
