With that bed mounted tire you’d think GM would equip this with their rear view camera mirror? That’d be a perfect application of the tech. Missed opportunity. Maybe in a future model year.

Truck needs a bump in HP to make up for those 35" tires and 200lbs of steel protection. Otherwise, sweet rig. Btw, the "MT" on those specific tires stand for Maximum Traction, not Mud Terrain. I don't know why Goodyear did that when certain terminology is used universally.

Only if you DON'T want to get the full warranty out of it. GM has essentially torture-tested the shit out of this engine already in various Silverado trims, and that truck has a higher GVWR than the Colorado does.

Good looking truck, pretty amaizng off-road but really needs paddle shifters or some way to control what gear you're in. I was amazed at the rock climbing bits though. Really incredible!
Your videos are always enjoyable and these kinds of videos are always intriguing because you're learning so much about the vehicle.

I am in the process of ordering one of these in the Sand Dune colour - but that white sure looks nice. It is nice to know that it does well on the road and isn't crazy noisy.

Did you notice a power decrease feel with the Bison and the 35inch tires compared to the regular Colorado Zr2. I figured GM would have gone with a 3.73 gear with the Bison because of the bigger wheels but they didn’t

I have seen the Colorado ZR2 bison and Silverado ZR2 bison videos on the 2024, the cab cockpit and the 35 inch are both on my bucket list for lottery money when ever it happens, with several other choice rides, 💸💲💸💲💸💲🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

I love how this truck has the same mpg as the Ram TRX and worse than a Raptor on 37s 😅. It’s an incredible truck but with that kind of mpg you probably can go ~300 miles highway before refills. Idk why GM couldn’t make it more efficient.

I have the ZR2 1500 I put 35's and clearance the front to fit them, have a decked pull out draw system with tons of tools that makes the rear squat almost 2 inches lol even then I'm absolutely floored how capable the truck is and how well it gets around wheeling

I wish Chevy would have, "re - geared" the bison. To accommodate, for the 35in tires. We need lower gearing in both, the "standard" ZR2, and Bison. 3:42 are garbage. Give it at least, a 3:73. Other than that, and the price!. Its a pretty sick rig. It will be interesting to see, its "reliability" and "durability" over time.

I don’t know about you, but my sister and I just went and looked at this pick up and the Tacoma over the weekend. We found the Colorado to be very cramped on the inside and the Tacoma to be very roomy..

Another fella did an off road review on one of these Colorado's, the truck had trouble going up a steep hill with all of the gizmos engaged. The guy gave up on the hill. Good looking truck though.

Wow! Johnson valley my old stomping grounds! Spent many hours and days bombing thru the desert there in my Long travel built titan… that Colorado Bison kicked ass. For a factory truck it did amazing! If I were 30 again I’d buy one in a heartbeat!!! Chad Hall and his race team did well in helping develop the Colorado Bison!!! 👏🏾👏🏾

Awesome video! For more context @ 0:50,
It makes sense the regular ZR2 has a stiffer suspension and feels less like a Ford-150 Raptor. All three trucks are very different trucks, built for different purposes.
The regular Colorado ZR2 was designed to do everything you would with a regular mid-size pickup truck (towing, payload, etc) while having off-road capability. It’s supposed to be the kind of truck you can drive fast through the desert and also get through technical rocky trails and still have the functionality of a regular pick up truck that you normally wouldn’t have with a really soft off-road suspension and everything else that comes with a set up dedicated solely to off-roading. That’s what makes the Colorado ZR2 so unique across all pickup trucks available on the market, full-size & mid-size. Plus most of these manufactures anticipate most future owners won’t use the truck to its full off-road capability. They also have certain standards to meet, a competitive MSRP, and cost of build to meet.
The Raptor was simply built to be a baja truck. That’s why they’re leveled, don’t have any rake, have a really soft long-travel suspension with something like 400hp, and tuned/geared for acceleration and top speed rather than being tuned for low end torque that would be needed to climb obstacles.
From the sounds of it, the new ZR2 Bison package gives you a mid-size pickup truck that is more of a desert racer, but still has everything you need to tackle those technical, tight, rocky trails that you wouldn’t be able to with a Ford F-150 Raptor. And of course, that comes with the advantages & trade-offs of having a vehicle that is built specifically for off-roading, vs the regular ZR2.
