Get a shallow pot- tray, cable tie 2 clay bricks set 180deg from each other at the edge of the tray.. Place into the water brick side down so the tray is lifted off the bottom the height of the brick. There’s plenty of room for the fish to hide under and it’s too deep for the herons etc
A big chunk of limestone in the tank, will buffer the water and keep it sweet for both fish and cows. I learnt this doing aquaponics. Not limestone building blocks, real limestone.
Hey John, fantastic. I'm heading over to Mt Gambier in a few weeks for a couple of cave dives. I'll certainly bring some home. The place is full of limestone boulders/ rocks in the caves and sinkholes. Cheers

Hey there, with the direct sunlight on the trough it seems that the algae is going faster the the fish can eat. Increasing the fish number?
Get some plectrum cat fish they love algae
