- After having no success with the propagation of the Persian silk tree via seed, I've changed tack and decided to propagate vis stem cuttings. Using two different methods of stem propagation lets see which is most successful for future propagation.
Hello! I just watched your video on cuttings from the silk tree, I'm also trying to learn how to do this! I looked for a follow up video but didn't see one, how did they do?!
If this doesn’t work, try air layering
Interested, why are you taking all leaves off, is the ability to photosynthesize not an issue? Also try aerial layering maybe?
Do you have willow?
Apparently paulownia is a very fast growing tree, cattle thrive on leaves. Only thing is it’s not Australian Native. Not sure how concerning that is
Hey Ray, I have willows growing in pots from cuttings. Just letting them grow out before planting. Any thoughts of protecting them from cattle?
I'm about to attempt propagating some Persian Silk too... Can you give us an update? Which method worked best and how many rooted? 😊
Hi Karren, I had no success. The Persian silk and oregano have turned out to be my nemesis. So many attempts and just nothing. If you have any luck can you please let me know. Thanks in advance. Cheers
@FatCowFarmTatong sorry to hear that, but I really appreciate the update. Will swing by in a few weeks to let you know how it turns out for me although the only major difference, other than climate, is that I've covered my pots with freezer bags for extra humidity.
Gday did you try to put some heat or smoke into them maybe that work
Nice one, I hadn't thought of that. I'll be straight onto that.
@@FatCowFarmTatong another way you could try is to put them in hot water nearly boiling leave them for a day and put in a pot about 25 mm deep in a mixture of compost and perlite in equal amounts.A lot of seeds with a hard casing are done this way
On the internet it says root cuttings are more effective.
