In this video, Keri will show you how to replace the Bowden tube coupling on the Flashforge Adventurer 3D printer. In this case, the coupling was stuck inside to the threaded insert, so it couldn't simply be unscrewed.
Please share your thoughts in the comments, especially if you have any useful tips and tricks for 3D printing.

Thank you for making this. It's good to know how to do this. I recently had filament get stuck in my PTFE tube and I had to cut the tube and pull this out. The "quick connect" didn't work! I accidentally pulled hard enough to pull the plastic quick connect out -- I had no idea what to do next. I bought replacement parts and I'm going to need to replace this coupling... your video will help!

I removed the connector easily with a wrench, it hadn't the same problem as yours. I had lots of dust and old filament strings in the connector and once they were removed it could once again load filaments. However I had to remove the tube from the connector and however i tried it wouldn't get back on again, kept popping up... So I superglued it and that seemed to work fine the first time. A few days later had same issue again (dust/old filament strings) and this time I guess I put too much superglue so now the black part of the connector is stuck to the connector... makes it a lot harder to screw it back on. After seeing your video I think next time I will cut off the tube and find some way to pull out the rest from the connector and hopefully solve the problem.
    Thanks for a great video!

@@PlumPot it is Elementary and middle schools primarily . Ages 7-13 . It has been a challenge but fun to get the teachers hooked.once they are it is easy to manage . The key is to help them get through a lot of what we see on this site . All printers jam ...ughhh and knowing how to deal with them takes time. I just watched the video and applied what you did to my own setup. Couple things I should point out that I found.
I just unscrewed the entire black casing that houses that brass. It made installing it a lot easier and like you I tried wedging it open to fit the nut. I actually think the manufacturer broke it. From what I could tell, the seem is not natural and almost seemed to snap without a hinge of any sort.
After installing the nut into the plastic frame, I reattached it and returned all parts and screws to their destination.

Thanks for the rad video - very helpful. When I push the tube into the coupling, should it be hard to remove? Mine keeps slipping out. Am I missing something? Do I need a new coupling? :(

i am having the same problem. Tube keeps popping out, and i can't print. So i believe to fix this problem we will need to buy the bowden and install a new one. Seems like the coupling holds the tube into place. ughhhhh what a pain hu lol

I have the opposite problem: I can't remove the tube to clean the nozzle. Also, the right tools would have helped, but I think you'd still have had that problem with the insert coming out. Well done.

I think that the black plastic mount that the brass fitting goes into is broken. You shouldnt be able to put a screwdriver in there to make it bigger so you will need to replace that too. Also if you are fitting brass fittings like this it is best to use a soldering iron to warm and press them in.

My FlashForge Adventurer 3 looks nothing like yours. There is no black collar to push down to remove the tubing, and the fan is raised higher than yours so that it blocks the nut collar to remove the coupling. I hope nobody else is having this nightmare!

While I REALLY appreciate people sharing their experiences online, for all people that find this video, as I did tonight, in the hopes of getting an understanding on how to pull apart the printing head of the Flashforge Adventurer 3 to replace the collet, please don't use this video. There is a MUCH better one here: th-cam.com/video/NHVHN1l0H9c/w-d-xo.html
In this video, they leave the ribbon cable in, they operate on the print head while still installed in the printer (it comes out quite easily), the airflow guide gets broken when they try to twist it out, then they break it more to get it back in again...
Please: use the better video located here: th-cam.com/video/NHVHN1l0H9c/w-d-xo.html
To the original poster, I genuinely thank you for taking the effort, and trying to fill in for the lack of videos for this kind of thing, but this video should really be taken down, as it will lead to people breaking their printers...
