this game was on my second game control that I got when I was 8, that was 5 years ago, I still haven't forgotten this game and I still love it and miss it.
Mappy is the best Arcade game of all time in my opinion. I still have amazing time with this game every time I play it. This game definitely deserves more recognition since this is legit a really great game. Pacman, eat your heart out! Mappy is the true Arcade masterpiece in my eyes.
@@Bowzrr Recently, you can get Mappy by getting Namco Museum Archives Vol.1 on modern consoles like Nintendo Switch or PS4. It's the NES version, rather than the original Arcade version, but it's still as great as the Arcade original in my opinion. There are numerous other ways to play Mappy and those other ways actually include the original Arcade version of Mappy. Namco Museum DS for the DS, Namco Battle Collection for PSP, Namco Museum 50th Anniversary for Gamecube and PS2, Namco Museum Megamix and Remix for Wii all has Mappy. Even there's this Pacman Plug N Play that's a controller shape like Pacman with orange joystick and 2 Button that's common to find includes Mappy as well, which is also the original Arcade version of Mappy. Hope this helps :)
This is the only other time I've seen this game. The first time was in Mysterious Mr Enter's review of Breadwinners. (BTW that show is a piece of shit! Don't watch it.)
Wow! I used to looove this game! I just NOW realized that the sound that's used when one of the colored doors open is the EXACT sound from another arcade hit... I believe it's from Galaga, when your ship gets sucked up by the tractor beam type thing.
I only recently learned how to play. I don't think I even knew how to open doors. Now, even if it's only been a day or two, I already have an unhealthy obsession for this series. Please help me.
I have the plug & Play but it's the Ms.Pac Man Version and I play it almost every day, I love this game, I can't get past level 27. I just found the console on Amazon for $169.00 I only paid $7.00 when it came out wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy back and kept all my games in zip lock bags all these years and don't play with most of them but they all still work.
I wish this game was on the NES Classic Edition, PAC-MAN, Galaga, and many others ranging from The Legend of Zelda and Zelda II: The Adventures of Link, and Super Mario Bros 1, 2, and 3 were among those released on the NES Classic Edition. It did not contain Mappy. I miss playing this when I like 11-16.
And this is why I don't care much for NES Classic Edition in the first place. The fact they left out Mappy for Famicom sickens me. Like seriously? They include Pacman and Galaga, but not Mappy? The Magmus Opus of Namco Arcade games? That does not make any sense. Literally all the NES games that are included in NES Classic Edition, you can get in Wii U Virtual Console(Which is where I do have these games by the way). If the NES Classic also include other really great titles that didn't see the light to release on Wii and Wii U Virtual console like Mappy(NES version), Yie Ar Kung Fu, Circus Charlie, Mappy Kids, Binary Land, and Twinbee, and etc. Then the NES Classic Edition justifies the more value to buy in my point of view. What saddens me the most is that if Mappy is released in NES Classic Edition, Mappy most likely receive more attention and recognition by old school gamers who love the NES and the kids nowadays which the parents bought for them since the NES Classic Edition sold like hotcakes by a large amount of consumers. Sadly, that's not the case because they didn't bother to release Mappy on there in the first place. Seriously, for shame Namco and Nintendo! For shame!
it will be very difficult since the Hurry UP message will appear quickly, plus the coin will show up and will kill you outright. I suppose there is a pattern you could so since I believe the levels do repeat (loop).
True but think of this way.Pacman for the arcade also has 256 levels (it was theorized), so was Dig Dug but there is the kill screen afterwards though. I guess Namco loves 256 at the time :)
Why is the start of the Mappy Im playing different from EVERY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! other Mappy On here. I cant get out of the damn game on mine grrr, so frustrating.
Whoever played this; poorly done and cheated your way through with unearned extra life. many bonuses missed from Boss the Big Bit, and getting the stolen devices picked up not from cheap (radio) to expensive (Mona Lisa), in pairs The bonus rounds are also poorly executed ^_^
@@Dinjur Mappy does have a story. It's about a police mouse recovering stolen items from cat burglars. Heck, it's actually the first Namco game to have a clear story unlike Pacman and Dig Dug. Mappy's story isn't necessarily deep since classic games back then don't focus much on deep narrative unless it's something like a RPG back in the 80's. Super Mario Bros's story is just as simple as Mappy's story.
@@uniroyalbarrie I disagree. Mappy is a really great game and is overall really fun. Nostalgia is not the only reason why people enjoy this game. Even to this day, I still have a blast playing Mappy. It's a timeless classic that never gets old.
One of my arcade favorites.
TimelordR Mine too!
This game was so fun..
I spent my whole summer playing this on my Ms. pacman plug stressing the fuck out when I was younger

I wish they would put it alongside Pacman Jr in 2003 with a hidden Dig Dug Game.
on the pacman plug and play, I felt so good entering my name at the top spot.
My cats name was Mappy I named him after this 1988 game. RIP Maps 1991 - 2006

Keegan Stormblade Agreed on the Breadwinners show! It's a big pile of crap!
I love this game when I was very little! Playing Mappy on the Ms. Pacman plug in was awesome to play with! The music is my favorite!
This game had the best 8bit music to me.
I highly agree with that. Mappy has a really great soundtrack.
HOLY CRAP MEMORIEEEEESSS!
Yup. Played it to death on Namco museum remix on my white ds lite. I sucked at it though
Anyone have the mappy plug and play

While both sound effects are similar, they aren't the exact same. But both games used the same Namco WSG sound chip!
I loved this game.
It was my childhood, every
time my family would go to this restaurant I would wait for the
food and play this on the arcades.
Loved the music to this. Like Ecco The Dolphin Tides Of Time, it sounds a lot different to the usual retro music (in a good way)
My childhood.👏🏼
I like the music.
Thomas Dickensheets me too
NOSTALGIA
my god this game pissed me off.... i was so bad at it
OMG especially when two pink cats trap you in on a platform.
UnrealOG fudge you for reminding me of those scary moments 😂

If mappy comes to your house for a visit, make sure to leave all of your doors open
and make sure you don't have balloons laying around
lol
Can't believe they gave this game's music a medley in Smash Ultimate
I love MAPPY. STILL HAVE THE ORIGNAL!!!!!

Favourite in 200in1 chinese consoles!
Opened the wave door on rd 2 too soon, could have gotten ALL the cats in one shot.
I know this game because my god brothers have the little joystick and so we used to play a couple of these games and Mappy was one of them
I was horrible at this game, I just bounced on the trampolines, causing them to break, and me failing.
They were soooo close to the cat ballooooonnn
I laid a score of 907,070 points on this game just now!

The hardest part for me was getting to each floor
6:10 how did 5 more men appear? Should be game over. Must be a mod
Chris Schiavi It's not a mod. He just must of edited the footage to start back at Round 5.
Ah... memories...
I Had That For 2 Players! Me And My Friends Played It At School :)
The theme when you start the level pisses me off just because I could never beat a single level when i was a child.
If you passed level 12, that's the highest level I can go.
I thought MP always stand for mouse patroll
ワーナーマイカル
Is it true that this game has 256 levels??
Thats just such a long play...
I'm going to get this for Wii Virtual arcade
Yes, 256 hellish levels. I have gotten much farther in the arcade, and it's frecking fast and insane
It sounds like this game is impossible to beat, and if u somehow can, it will take like 10 hours straight
it will be very difficult since the Hurry UP message will appear quickly, plus the coin will show up and will kill you outright. I suppose there is a pattern you could so since I believe the levels do repeat (loop).
but still, even if u could find this loop or w/e, 256 levels seriously means like 10 hours of play.
Thats just crazy
