When I played this back in NES, I didn't realize you should pick up the same pair of objects for optimal score.

Bud, believe me I too had the same confusion when playing the game. I thought it's like game of coward cop and rude theives where cop tries to save stolen products from cat theives.

@@robot_kunji Mappy is a cowardly policeman since he is a mouse and the thieves are cats, although I don't know why Mappy is afraid of him if they are the same height, although taking into account that the cats stole the Mona Lisa and they robbed 16 mansions it makes sense that she is afraid of them since mappy got into a mansion of gangster cats and drug dealers

I never got the appeal of this game, quite frankly.

The attraction of the game is the colorful graphics and the spectacular soundtrack, like the sliding of the camera, which for these times is not a big deal, but in 1983 it was something great and some exclusive mechanics of each level, such as bonuses that trick you and that's why MAPPY is my favorite game.

The appeal of this game is that it has really great and engaging gameplay, great music, complex amount of satisfying strategy for its time, great controls and high replay value. Not only is Mappy have great gameplay, unlike Dig Dug and Pacman, Mappy has variety amount of strategy to the point you choose how you want to play and how you choose to strategize to achieve the high amount of score in many different ways. That's a pretty big deal at the time and the game overall still highly holds up even to this day. What I also love about Mappy is that it has great difficulty balancing. It's easy to grasp and it's fairly challenging, like not to the point that it's cheaply hard and frustrating. It has this perfect blend of difficulty which honestly other Arcade games like Donkey Kong, Pacman, and Dig Dug struggle to achieve to be honest. And this is coming from someone who enjoys the Donkey Kong Arcade game. Mappy is my favorite game of all time and I'm glad it got ported to Arcade Archives.

@@canalmuertoperovolverealgundia Glad to see another Mappy fan :) I love this game too. I do believe Mappy is the first game to scroll the screen left and right depending the position you're in. Super Mario Bros is falsely credited to do that. yet Mappy, Jr Pacman, and Pac-Land achieved that years prior.
