You now need to hear “hooked on an 8 second ride”. Chris is an icon we lost way too soon. Garth Brooks one said he got his stage energy from Chris, this man did things like ridding mechanical bulls on stage. One of my few hero’s.
Chris was a world champion bareback bronc rider. My ranching partner rode against him several times. He said you're better off to keep your entry money in your pocket if Chris was entered because you were gonna lose. Chris was from Wyoming.
Mr. Chris LeDoux. Championship bronc rider turned singer. He had a pretty good rodeo circuit following for music until Garth Brooks mentioned him in his first song, and it made Chris a superstar. Love his music, I had the pleasure of seeing him twice in concert before he passed away. God Bless Chris LeDoux!!
Chris is a western music legend. A rodeo champion, an award winning sculpted, a rancher, and a family man. He started his music career by recording songs in a basement studio in Wyoming. He sold his albums out of the trunk of his car while he was rodeoing.
I got to see Chris Ledoux in concert before he passed - and yes, he did have a mechanical bull on the stage. Whether riding a saddle bronc or giving a concert, he put it all on the line.
I've been waiting for you to get around to the late, great Chris Ledoux (Pronounced Luh- Doo).. He was a REAL cowboy, and 1976 World Champion in bareback riding... I had a friend who went to one of his live shows, he told me Chris REALLY put on a show, right down to riding a mechanical bull on stage.... This was while he was still recovering from his (Ultimately fatal) liver cancer treatment... He has a variety of songs.. He can do love songs, such as "Tougher Then The Rest" or "Western Skies" and then just tear it up with sings like "Hooked on an 8 Second Ride" or "Bareback Jack" and everything in between... Many of his songs, most of which he wrote or co wrote himself, are about Rodeos, while others are about other things... He got famous when Garth Brooks name dropped Chris in his first single, "Much Too Young To Be This Damn Old"... Garth and Chris became good friends and worked together too... They made the duets "What'cha Gonna Do With a Cowboy" and "Some Things Never Change"... Garth even put out a tribute to Chris called "Good Ride, Cowboy" after he passed... Chris worked with other artists too, such as Toby Keith, with the song "Copenhagen"... One of my favorite Chris Ledoux songs is "Silence On The Line"... It is also tells a story... BTW, His World Championship winning ride can be found on YT... All You gotta do is search it...
I was lucky enough to see him multiple times from rodeo arenas to dance halls. As a teenager, my old truck ALWAYS had a tape or CD of his and now at 50 of course my play list holds pretty much every song of his.
Chris Ledoux is one of the few singer/songwriters who lived the life he wrote about and could back up words. Lost too soon. We love him, his an icon. Those are Wrangler Jeans, btw.
Chris was 100% Wyoming proud. This past weekend was Chis LeDoux (La Do) days in Kaycee, Wy where he lived for many years before passing away. Nearly his entire family still lives here and I'm honored to call them friends. I spoke with Peggy his wife a few days ago. Been in his office many times and it's a museum to his accomplishments. All the rodeo buckles, his saddle, guitars, and the gold records on the wall. Unfortunately he passed before I moved to this area, but the stories you hear from the locals let you know he was much more than a champion rodeo rider or a musician.
He died in March of 2005 from cancer. He was a world champion professional bareback rodeo rider in 1976. When speaking about that accomplishment LeDoux chuckled recalling his bounty. “I won a saddle and a buckle, and I got a hat and a pair of boots - and a little bit of money. The money’s gone. The boots are worn out. The hat’s gone - someone bit a big chunk out of it at Fort Worth that next winter. I still have the saddle and the buckle. But that championship gave me credibility in the music that I’m doing and helped tremendously,”
Chris was an unbelievable story teller who could tell it slow or fast, and when he went fast he brought the energy. You should check out Western Skies, Riding for a Fall, Paint Me Back to Wyoming and Look at You Girl (which was played at my daughters wedding). Life is a Highway, The Fever for a little faster and the list goes on and on.
Chris LeDuox was a hell of a man. His storytelling is beyond singing. He helped thousands through music, art, and being a truly decent dude. He was a fiercely independent independent artist. Having more than 30 albums he released, much in the same vein as Tom MacDoonald. (Chris won a grammy He rodeod - not just making the circuit He won the bareback championship at NFR in Vegas. He never disappointed a fan. HUGE,fun, spill into a street dance concerts that were epic. Veryi mpressive life. However it was his personal life where he was irreplaceable. He was a good dad and husband. I f you just head further into his play lists you'll hear his and zoeggy's love story. He died at 56, far too young but he's caught cancer and survived an organ transplant. He was a really good man. He made this world better place.
You could fall off in a huge rabbit hole with Chris. One of a kind-real cowboy, real musician. He started his music career selling 8 track tapes of his music to his buddies at rodeos out of the trunk of his car. Most people never heard of him until Garth Brooks came along & mentioned Chris’ name in a song. I have every song Chris ever recorded, on cassette & CD, some on 8 track (yes, I’m that old) Chris is one of my heroes, & I don’t throw that word around lightly.
I discovered Chris about 8 years ago and now have well over a dozen songs in my regular playlist. My favorites are The Ride, Mighty Lucky Man and Big Brahma Bull. Hope you take a listen and enjoy them as much as I do.
Chris Ledeux was the real thing. He’d ride the rodeo then put on a concert later. His family pressed the records at home and sold them at those concerts and rodeos. A couple of my favorites by him are “Tougher Than the Rest” and “Silence on the Line,” the later being another story song like this one.
As a native Texan, I thank you for the kind comments about Texas! Real cowboys wear Wrangler jeans, and Chris was a REAL cowboy, not a wanna be. Gone too soon!
I remember growing up listening to Chris Ledoux with my mom. Everytime he pops up in my playlist, I reminisce about the times we had together. Great artist and great memories. And also. Upchurch mentions him in Real Country, "unless you been whiskey bent blaring Chris Ledoux."
When I was competing in High School Rodeo, I met Chris right after he won the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Bareback Bronc riding championship in 1976. He was so genuine and willing to offer advice to a high school kid. The Pride of Kaycee, Wyoming. RIP Chris.
My husband has always said...and taught our boys one thing...that loud mouth in a bar room, he ain't nothing...but, that quite one all by himself, not bothering anyone. Leave him alone, cause he'll hurt ya!!❤😂
I miss Chris. He was a REAL COWBOY that sang real cowboy songs. I recommend watching the duet Chris did with Garth Brooks, Whatcha gonna do with a Cowboy. My favorite was Cadillac Ranch. It's fast paced and so fun.
How did I miss this? One of my all time favorite country songs by one of the few true cowboys in country music (rip Chris). Died on my birthday in 2005... It was so sad.
Chris LeDoux was an American country music singer-songwriter, bronze sculptor, and hall of fame rodeo champion. During his career, LeDoux recorded 36 albums, which have sold more than six million units in the United States as of January 2007.
God bless old Chris Loo. He just passed away here, not too long ago yeah one thing you know about him. He was an actual rodeo cowboy. He did that for a long time and he was good at it.
Awesome, I toured with Chris back in the 90's as a stage hand on the west coast, He was a super, super nice guy and as down to earth as someone could be, He was and will always be the best..RIP Ole friend..
So glad you have done one of my many favorite Chris LeDoux songs! Please check out more! The Johnson County War is based on a range war, a piece of Wyoming history. In the Joe Pickett novels, every time Joe and his buddy Nate drive through Kaycee Wyoming they hold up an imaginary toast to Chris LeDoux.
While there have been a few Rodeo Cowboys turned Musician/Singer, Chris accomplished something no one else has. He rode in and performed on stage at the same rodeo in Houston.
Mrs.Britt, you see, this is why I am a fan of yours...I have listened to country music for well let's just say 50+ years and I have never heard this awesome song !! I knew who Chris was and what he did for a living but for some strange reason, never heard this song !!! Thanks Mrs.Britt, please keep doin what'chu do best...smilin and reactin !!!!
Chris was cool. In addition to being a real rodeo cowboy, he sold his tapes out of the trunk of the car on the rode circuit. For a while he wasn’t as well known as a singer as he should have been, but he was happy - he’d self-released 22 records and sold 250,000 records with only self-promotion. He had a devoted regional following. He was working on his ranch one day in 1989 and he had the radio on in the truck. Garth Brooks’ new single “Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old)” had just dropped. In the song Garth mentions “A worn-out tape of Chris LeDoux, lonely women and bad booze” being his only friends. Now, this was Garth at the height of his popularity and he’d just name-dropped Chris LeDoux. Chris about ran his truck off the road when he heard it. He had no expectation that Garth even knew who he was. But now, Garth had made sure everyone knew his name, and not only did Chris’s career go to the next level because of it, but the two became great friends. When Chris needed a liver transplant in 2000, Garth even volunteered to be a donor but he wasn’t a match. Chris LeDoux died of cancer in 2005. He was a great artist, a good guy, and a genuine badass.
I love how open you are to any kind of good music. I don't have a genre of music I like. I have songs I like. Chris Ledoux was a badass that died way too young. He has some other GREAT songs.
My grandfather gave me his hat before he passed, his buddy from Vietnam was Apache, gave him a leather band adorned with feathers, beads, and snake skin
All you need to know about Chris Ledoux is that Garth Brooks LOVED him. This song reminds me lot of Brooks in "Thunder Road" and "Rodeo". That guitar solo has a bit of Dire Straits in it, too.
I used to see Chris in concerts in Oklahoma, most the time I the Chris Ledoux and Calf Fries concert in Stillwater, OK. When you watch Garth Brooks most of how he presents himself on stage he learned from Chris. The band is still together and his son took his place. I was listening and he was good but he hit a note singing “Western Skies” I just froze because he sounded exactly like his dad. He’s he’s wearing wranglers boot cut jeans.
For all the Texas talk, Chris lived outside of Kaycee, Wyoming. My wife and I have fond memories of seeing him live a number of times in Greeley and Cheyenne.
Hey Britt. Chris was a heck of an entertainer. Sadly lost too soon to cancer. He was a bronc riding champion and a rancher as well as a musician. He played mostly small venues and did shows after the rodeos. he had a bit of a rockin country style and even in small venues was doing light and laser shows and flash pots etc. Gart Brooks saw him perform and stole err I mean borrowed the show style and then cranked it up on a huge scale. I had never heard of Chris' music until garth's song Much too Young to Feel This Damn Old in which he mentions a worn out tape of Chris Ledoux. Pronounced like La-Dew. Chris got a lot more notoriety after Garth's song, and started playing some bigger places. You should btw check out the Garth song that I mentioned if you can find it on YT. Hard to find Garth songs where he is actually the one singing. Old Garth doesn't like to let a nickel get away. Enjoyed your reaction as always. Have a great summer. Stay safe and healthy and adorable!
So glad to see reactors, especially ones that know how to take in the lyrics and react to the roots of country music! Chris LeDoux was an amazing storyteller, however, he also has an amazing sense of humor. I would love to see your reaction to “For Your Love”
I can't believe that you found this one and did a reaction! My favorite Chris LeDoux song! You may also want to consider Poor Man's Poison - "Hell's Coming With Me". I just have a feeling that you'd love it! Awesome reaction! ❤❤❤
The cowboy traditions -the hat is a sacred part of a man’s wardrobe. Most have one particular one that literally has their life story on it like this song portrayed. There is a care ritual to it like most people detail a car. I still have my 4X Resistol hat I bought in 1991
His family just release an official music video for this song. It’s definitely worth a watch. It features Chris’s son Ned and Ned’s bandmate Lane Turner. Ned continues to perform and while he has his own music still performs his dad’s songs and sounds similar to him.
Chris Ledoux is a compelling story on his own. A real deal rodeo champion cowboy who made some great music. Prior to his mention in Garth Brooks' song "Much to young" Ledoux wasn't very well known in the music world, except on the rodeo circuit. The song "Much too young" sort of launched both Garth Brooks and Chris Ledoux's careers. You should really check out "Much too Young" by Garth.
I really enjoyed this video. I felt like I was watching my younger self experience this song the first time. Now, as an older woman I want to know where have all the cowboys gone?
God Bless Chris LeDoux!!!! pronounced Le Dew.. Cowboy Up! When Chris was out on the road rodeoing he would make tapes and sell them out of his trunk.. and the legend built from there
Garth Brooks and Chris were great friends. Garth's first radio single "Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old)" mentions Chris and, after Chris passed, Garth wrote and released "Just LeDoux It" as an homage to his pal. As with all of Garth's songs, you'll have to find the live version from one of his TV specials to do a proper reaction.
A touch of trivia, Chris was born and raised here in Wyoming. Went to college at the one in my city. He was a legit rodeo star before he started singing and made it big, sadly his life ended way to early.
You should check out the tribute to Chris with this song. It contains actors portraying the lyrics to this story/song. I got to see him Live in Lexington many many years ago. He was an amazing performing and had the best stage presence... Honorable mention to that night at his concert... I caught a red rose he pitched towards me. ❤ Check out his son Ted LeDoux...
Chris Ledoux, in addition to being a professional rodeo cowboy, sings lots of songs about rodeo life, country life, and cowboy/western themes, even moreso than his contemporaries in the country music genre. He is also one of the best examples of a rare sub-genre: Cowboy Rock. For the best song he has in that category, you should listen to Hooked On An 8-second Ride. It’s a song about a bull rider, but the music that plays to it sounds like 80s heavy metal; not something you’d expect from a western cowboy singer.
À while back you reviewed the Garth vegas show i believe. He tells a story about Chris (lady name pronounced ladoo...). Chris was a great guy who passed of cancer way to soon and was a legend in the Rodeo world.
You now need to hear “hooked on an 8 second ride”. Chris is an icon we lost way too soon. Garth Brooks one said he got his stage energy from Chris, this man did things like ridding mechanical bulls on stage. One of my few hero’s.
Yes please react to this
Great song.

Bareback rider, but yeah.
Cowboys definitely prefer Wranglers.
You should try "working man's dollar" next
Chris rode bareback horses, he was from Mississippi but moved to Wyoming. But yeah
@@jreich8320 my bad.

Chris was actually from biloxi Mississippi
Chris was a good friend. He was a pure talented man and missed
Chris Ledoux is one of the best. He has so many great songs. You will absolutely love his songs.

Liver failure. He then received a liver transplant which failed.
What??
Thank you for paying justice to Chris, and yep they are wranglers!!!

Been listening to Chris for a very long time
Anyone that wouldn't enjoy watching you has real issues, you're one in a million ❤❤❤
I discovered Chris about 8 years ago and now have well over a dozen songs in my regular playlist. My favorites are The Ride, Mighty Lucky Man and Big Brahma Bull. Hope you take a listen and enjoy them as much as I do.
Chris Ledoux was quite a singer and story teller. May he rest with Jesus.

“Tougher Than the Rest” is a Springsteen song that Chris covered, but like everything else, he did it well!
"Riding For A Fall" is a must.
I’ll check it out!
As a native Texan, I thank you for the kind comments about Texas! Real cowboys wear Wrangler jeans, and Chris was a REAL cowboy, not a wanna be. Gone too soon!
Right on!
He was from Wyoming

He bThanks for posting, Chris was one of best and sadly missed. I was able to see him in a few concerts and had a chance to meet him.
This is TRUE COWBOY COUNTRY.
Chris also did a wonderful cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “Tougher Than the Rest.” Both versions are terrific.
Thank you, thank you Britt. You are the best ever. Just like Chris Ledoux is the best.
Cowboys wear Wrangler jeans. There is a saying ‘Wrangler butts drive me nuts!’
Awesome, I toured with Chris back in the 90's as a stage hand on the west coast, He was a super, super nice guy and as down to earth as someone could be, He was and will always be the best..RIP Ole friend..
Le Due is how its pronounced. He is absolutely ine of my all time favorites! And he has some awesome story songs!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Chris LeDoux died of cancer in 2005. He was a great artist, a good guy, and a genuine badass.
God bless Chris Ledoux!!!!!
One of my favorite Chris Ledoux songs is "Look At You Girl." It just might be PDC worthy.
I miss that man
Love that you loved it!
SHE GAVE HIM THE HAT BAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for reacting to this song!
He got into singing when he met Merle Hagard. The story happened in Texas, he's from Wyoming.

I've got my dad's old cowboy hat. It has a few stories tied to it. Barbara mandrel and Janie Frickie both signed the inside of it.
Chris LeDoux… one of the best!
so glad.I.got to see Chris before he.passed
Legend and his music lives on. 2024 and still listen to the Legend
Epic song, and I utterly love your reactions!
I do like watching your reviews. You are something else.👍
I still have my 4X Resistol hat I bought in 1991
He was the 50cent of country music…. Tha real one
He’s from Wyoming “The Cowboy State”! And he wears Cowboy Cut Wranglers!
His family just release an official music video for this song. It’s definitely worth a watch. It features Chris’s son Ned and Ned’s bandmate Lane Turner. Ned continues to perform and while he has his own music still performs his dad’s songs and sounds similar to him.
Nice job young lady, Chris Ledoux- Tougher Than The Rest is very good, better than the original imo
This is one of my favorite songs. I hope you enjoy the story :)
I love it!
Look at you girl is a great one by Chris
God Bless Chris LeDoux!!!! pronounced Le Dew.. Cowboy Up! When Chris was out on the road rodeoing he would make tapes and sell them out of his trunk.. and the legend built from there
My uncle Derrick met Chris in Medora North Dakota before he died and gave him a tobacco. RIP Chris Ledoux.
Garth Brooks song "Good Ride Cowboy" was written as a tribute to Chris. Good song
Chris has another "Hat" song "Under This Old Hat", which is an up beat song and really let's you hear his superb singing voice.
Garth brooks is a liberal who helped ruin this country 👍
A touch of trivia, Chris was born and raised here in Wyoming. Went to college at the one in my city. He was a legit rodeo star before he started singing and made it big, sadly his life ended way to early.
Born in Biloxi, MS. Raised in Wyoming.
$5 fine for whining and gravitational pull are my favorite Chris Ledoux songs I think you'll like both
Rest in peace Chris never be another
Garth Brooks mentions him in his song Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old). I assume he was a big fan.
Chris ledoux was a very good man
I just love to see you smile. You need to listen to his song county fair. Have fun.
The original singer of "Life is a Highway", that was rerecorded by Rascal Flatts for the Pixar movie "Cars".
Chris died in 2003 at the age of 56. RIP We lost a real cowboy. 😭
He was from Wyoming and he had one of the greatest titles that anyone can ever claimed the bareback champ of 1976
Rowdy Johnson did a response to this song called "This Bikers Vest". It's worth a listen, possibly even a response to!
À while back you reviewed the Garth vegas show i believe. He tells a story about Chris (lady name pronounced ladoo...). Chris was a great guy who passed of cancer way to soon and was a legend in the Rodeo world.
