Super,I took a good look,thanks for the instructions,greetings from Slovenia.
Use a smart phone camera if yo don't have a multi meter. The beam (purple light from the led) becomes visible if there's a contact, nothing if it's dead. point the remote at the camera and press. Or just assume it's u/s and repair. I use aluminium kitchen foil and general purpose glue (not sure super glue sticks well on silicone).
I received this tip from JB Hi-Fi.
This is good advice for those people who do not have a multimeter. Just check to make sure your cell phone camera can pick up the infrared beam, as not all cameras can. On my Samsung, the LED on the end of the remote appears as a faint purple like color when a working button is pushed on the remote.

@@healthyeatingwithasendler Yep it worked! But then I used some metal tape on another one. Just cut these tiny bits and applied where you used the pencil. Did clean the board with alcohol too. Worked fine buy it was your idea.

Kilka pilotów w podobny sposób zregenerowałem jeszcze jak mieliśmy w domu kineskopy. Obecnie piloty do LCD-ów najczęściej przeżywają telewizory (po dwóch - trzech latach TV zdycha i trzeba zakupić nowy z nowym pilotem). Jest jeszcze prosty sposób jak sprawdzić bez telewizora czy pilot działa. Wystarczy zbliżyć pilota do jakiegoś radioodbiornika który jest ustawiony na częstotliwości gdzie nie ma stacji lub jest ona słaba. Radio powinno pikać lub pomrukiwać jak wciskamy przyciski na pilocie.

I would be very concerned about excess graphite shavings shorting out things on the circuit board that you don't want shorted out!
I used a tiny piece of aluminum foil and some super glue and that seems to work fine. No worries now about graphite dust getting in places where I did not want it to be!

Die 2 und die 5 reparieren und dann ganz stolz die anderen Tasten benutzen zum vorführen. Ganz toller Trick. Ausserdem bröselt der Sekundenkleber innerhalb von 2 Tagen raus und alles ist wieder defekt.

This only fixes a remote that's not working for one specific reason not other common problems like a loose waggly solder point or oxidized brownish, rusty battery +/- connection plates or springs in the remote's battery container..

Super glue is not good. It will become rigid and fall off after a while, because the buttons are made of silicon.
You should look for some silicon adhesive gel to make a permanent fix.
Maybe you are confused? This remote control still works for me and is held in place with superglue.
Replacement for Harmony remote?
It's better to buy a new remote for those who have to buy a multimeter.

Replacement original remotes aren't available for my unit. Aftermarket replacement remotes only work on less than 50% of the buttons, and even those you have to long press the buttons for 2 seconds. The Aftermarket one I bought has an inoperable on/off button, among many others. 😡
Or buy a multimeter with the money you haven't spending and repair it all in your home😂🎉
Maybe you wouldn't need the multimeter if you knew which buttons aren't working.
multimeter is so freaking cheap, the cheap one cost $2.50 where i live. There are so many use of it for diyers

What about if you don't have a pencil or crazy glue? 🤔 The easier method is just taking the remote apart and rinsing the button pad under some water and wiping the circuit board with a damp cloth.

Карандашом ремонтировал кнопки "2" и "5", а нажимал для проверки другие кнопки.
Чинил 2 и 5 кнопку, а управлял потом чем угодно, только не этими клавишами ! Красава....
Pomysł bardzo ciekawy ale wymaga precyzji i nie wiem czy po pewnym czasie nie zeszlifuje płytki z nadrukiem. Nie przypadkowo producenci dają gumki przewodzące prąd. Jest inna metoda którą pokazuję w swoim filmiku. Koszty gumek podobne jak cena kleju. The idea is very interesting, but it requires precision and I don't know if after some time it will not grind the printed plate. It is not by chance that manufacturers give conductive rubber bands. There is another method that I show in my video. The costs of rubber bands are similar to the price of glue

In my humble opinion. Multimeter was only indicative to show the pad had poor conductivity. If you know which buttons are not working you could go directly to them.

Funktioniert leider nicht immer da die Plastikhalterungen wegbrechen und die Hälften nich mehr stabil zusammensetzbar sind. Die Weichmacher sind irgendwann weg und das Material zu spröde. Da nutzen die gebastelten Kontakte auch nichts mehr...
