Ok, if work after cleaning, don't apply anything else, only cleaning is best. If all else fails - try my fix - open remote 1) make a note of buttons not working 2) Clean all button contacts and circuit board as shown in the video 3) re assemble, check and note if any buttons not working 4) open up again and get a length of thin double sided adhesive tape 5) cut a short strip ay 50mm and get same length of foil stick dull side of foil to tape 6) use hole punch with bottom cover of and punch out discs from the tape/foil you just made 7) with a sharp blade gently ease foil from disc edge (it usually comes of with adhesive attached to foil) you may need tweezers to pull of completely 8) position/place disc over contact button and press down with finger - repeat on all buttons not working. I have successfully done this on several remotes. Needs a bit of patience.

I may need that kontak liquid. When I looked at the circuit board the same button that keeps giving trouble shows a faint line through it as if the circuit may be broken
Particular problem with DirectTV remotes. The bottom black part has 2 layers. Hard plastic, PS or ABS, and soft layer, perhaps PVC with plastifier. This particular external layer makes the remote to stick to any surface and not sliding. And this is what creates the problems. Slowly it emits plastifier fumes that condense on the inside, on the PCB and buttons. Plastifier is insulator, and the conducting rubber does not touch the metal terminals. Take it apart, wash the plastic parts with soap and water, and the PCB with rubbing alcohol. Remove the yakky sticccky residue. How to take apart the remote. Remove the batteries. On the bottom there are two small black screws. Take them out. Flip the top. There is an oval insert at the middle. Remove it gently with a small sharp flat screwdriver. Start around the blue button. Under it you will find 4 more longer screws. Remove them. There are several snap-ons. Thats it. Wash, reassemble.
Instead of using a camera, take the control and bring it near to a radio (AM) set to a blank spot on the dial (no station). Push each button to listen for a noise. You will know the unit is transmitting if any button makes a noise on the radio. Push each button to see how many are working. If some don’t work,it will need the repair shown here. Some radios are better than others, being more sensitive than others. Portable transistor radios I found were best.
@@vikramupadhaya5784 I have a few IR controls. Yes if the IR transmitter itself is working or not working, the camera test is needed.
