I had my jeans repaired like that by a family friend years ago, I remember talking about it with Americans and they didn't understand why would anyone repair a pair of jeans... Well, it was in a time I was making the equivalent of 85 cents per hour and here the jeans would cost me what I made in a week. I still have them. It's awesome that people still do this.
I always repair my jeans because it's not easy finding the right style that I like anymore. Even as a teenager I prepare my own jeans because it was cheaper then buying a new pair. Back then I would use crazy patterns the patch of my jeans kind of making my own style kind of like getting a new pair of pants. Best part was the material I would use was my younger brother's p.j. pants that he outgrew so I was recycling his pants to make my new pants 😊

Beautiful job! This is the first tutorial I've seen that doesn't use darning. I couldn't use that method since the hole is too big and wide. And I have another pair I can use to patch the hole on my favourite jeans! Thank you Warning: this takes FOREVER. You have to do really tiny stitches so that it's secure. I think it took me 4 hours on just one patch, but I'm also really slow at needlework. If you have a patch with the right colour and the right colour thread, it literally blends in seamlessly, so the time is so worth it
I've looked through your channel and you have very helpful videos. One recommendation I can give is "how to fix hole or rip in knitted sweater" because that's a difficult repair that most people don't know how to do
Some of the stitching could be done on the sewing machine. But the hand stitching does make blending and edges that neighbor the double thick seam, look better. I love learning new methods. Ty

But the glue can be an issue so I line the inside with thin* cotton fabric and that seems to work well. I buy jeans every 5 years or so. But the only pair that has lasted me decades was from the 90's with very thick jean fabric. I wish they made that quality affordable now.
It's so good to see these skills still being used. People throw so much away these days, where a wee patch or a bit of a darn can save a lot of landfill.
What do you expect when the youth isn’t learning this stuff from the older generation now. Parents aren’t teaching their kids basic life skills they’re not learning this stuff in school.
This art of repairing something with so much love is so fascinating to me. I love this! Instead of fast fashion and endless shopping of new clothes in former times most people used to learn how to repair things instead of throwing them away and I think it is still useful today. I love to repair things but sometimes I just don't know how to make this. So thank you very much for this video! 👍👍
It's the change in our society. It went from a buy-repair society to a buy-throw society. Alot of more modern products aren't made or meant to last very long which imo is really sad.

That was extremely well executed! I could have kept on wearing litterally 100 pair of good jeans over the years. Wish I could do it so well. Oh well, I guess there's no harm in trying next time, and again and again, until it resembles your very nice work, indeed. Thanks for sharing!!! Kind regards.
I'll just throw in that most dry cleaners also have a repair service, so even if you can't do this yourself it's still cheaper than a new pair of jeans.
I must say that that was very neatly done! I on the other hand just place the patch fabric under the worn out bit and then drive a massive amount of thread all over the area using my sewing machine. Kind of like a hippie.
@@guillaumep.7206Women's jeans are 💩. Much thinner fabric, lower-quality materials than men's jeans of similar price point. I've had jeans wearing out at the knees within 3 months of purchase & I am NOT hard-wearing.

@dove3853 jesus wouldn't also try and force religion onto someone else, no one died on a cross for anyone or atleast in mine or your families life time and the worst of all giving credit to someone who didn't do jack shit for you or me, read an article the other day of a young couple who built themselves a home just by themselves with no outside help and the last comment they made' "we thank God for giving us this house". Its sad but the the good thing is, Christianity is on the verge of collapse die to more and more people waking up to the bs the bible says. Somethings may of happened yes, the great flood, but we also know about tsunamis. The sea splitting in half for moses, we also know about tides going in and out and that many places/beaches split into 2 when the tides out, falling angels 🤣🤣 we also know about meteor showers, comets, asteroids and space debris. Why is there also parts of the bible that has been banned and removed that go further into detail about events that happen in the bible but with a more mundane explanations. The story about noah and the ark is a lie, the closest you could make me believe is that the flood was to wipe out giants that were hybrids, half human and half angel. And 'god' used the flood to destroy the abominations which is also explained in a banned/removed part of the bible. You could put the whole of the avengers movies and storylines into 1 book and you would tell me its not fiction but yet swear blind the bible is the truth with no direct proof but just pure faith

I really really love ❤️ how this turned out. I really really enjoyed watching you sewing 🧵 by hand. When you finished you couldn’t really see where you repaired it. Your stitching is impeccable, and so precise. Please stay safe and well too
Outstanding repair. For anyone out there that says they can't sew (I can) it is possible to stick patches on with contact/impact adhesive. Been using it in industry for years and patching clothes for as long. It is certainly quick in an emergency and they don't come off in the washing. Sewing is an easy skill to learn but adhesive could get you in the repair mind set.

Beyond fixing a hole in jeans, this video taught me the value of resourcefulness and creativity in problem-solving. Kudos to the instructor for sharing such valuable knowledge with the world!
Excellent video. I've had this problem my whole life. My mum tried repairing my jeans when I was younger but she would use rough patches and rough stitching and it either didn't look good or would chafe my legs or cut into my underwear so I ended up throwing a lot of otherwise perfectly good jeans away😒 I will get my wife to try this technique or maybe, just maybe I might take up sewing and give it a crack myself. I am a mechanical engineer by trade and have worked with every tool manual or machine in the workshop and I fix everything that breaks in my house but I've never picked up a thread and needle before so who knows I might actually be good at it...😀
My husband is the one who will sew up holes for me when a favorite item gets one, he's gotten really good! You should definitely give it a try, use a larger needle if you need to because the small ones are harder to use, I can barely thread them lol.

I have been sewing and mending for years. I appreciate the way you have presented this mending technique. However, I have concerns with the way you trim the underside/inside of the jeans. Denim is a frayable material. You trimmed right next to your stitching without leaving a seam width, and you did not "seal" the edges of the denim with fray check or some other product designed to keep the fabric underneath from fraying out your new seam. So I believe to make your mending technique a lasting solution, then you need to leave a seam width and you also need to seal that seam somehow to prevent it from fraying out, causing another hole. Thank you.
This is a good point of view, but the jeans must be emptied from the inside so that it is not thick and annoying when used. I also put this sticky cloth to keep it for as long as possible, and this method I have used for years, and my customers are very satisfied with us, but I would appreciate your advice
@@kateryncarrasco5221, I think she means "Stitchwitchery". It's a clear sticky fabric that is ironed on the inside of pants and patch to stop the seams from fraying.

@elhrfy Jeans used to be made with a tough material called hemp (a crop also known as cannabis). The product was very tough like canvas and used to last years. When you bought a pair of jeans, you used to have to 'break them in' which sometimes involved wearing them in a hot bath (shrink to fit). The fabric is still available today called hemp denim which is 100% hemp. You can also get hemp twill denim which is typically 55% hemp & 45 % cotton. Hemp is also used for high quality paper (parchment), for climbing rope, sailing rope, twine and yarn as well as lots of other industrial uses. 100% cotton jeans are not the original genuine article (that is why they fall apart after a few months).

But the only pair that has lasted me decades was from the 90's with very thick jean fabric. I wish they made that quality affordable now.

@@Kolobud

Excellent video. I've had this problem my whole life. My mum tried repairing my jeans when I was younger but she would use rough patches and rough stitching and it either didn't look good or would chafe my legs or cut into my underwear so I ended up throwing a lot of otherwise perfectly good jeans away😒
I will get my wife to try this technique or maybe, just maybe I might take up sewing and give it a crack myself.

Yes I am surprised. This truly was a magical solution. I've never seen a jean repair done so perfectly.
This how I have always repaired jeans, and still do today. No point paying out when there's still life left in the old pair 😊

A calça do meu filho estava igual essa .
Fiz o reparo e ficou muito bom!
Gratidão por você compartilhar 👍🏻
Qual o nome do pano que gruda no acabamento? Onde posso comprar ?

Fantastic! It would be great if you could link to the fusible interfacing that you use to line the inside. Thanks!
They should make jeans out of hemp like they used to instead of cotton & they don't wear out the same.
What do you mean with this comment?
Perfeito. Parabéns. Vc é 1000.❤
Muito obrigado por este comentário maravilhoso 🌹 🌹💖
Good fabric match. This is like finding the right wood colour and grain for damaged furniture repair. Also very nice clean hand stitching, great job!
Thank you very much for this wonderful comment 🌹 🌹💖
Muchas gracias por brindarnos sus conocimientos!💜
I don’t think I would cut off the part that is worn out as that will help reinforce the new patch. Especially in that area..
Thank you for this great video! I just finished fixing one pair of jeans and now onto the next! Thank you thank you thank you!!!
Thank you so much for this wonderful comment and I wish you all the best 🌹 🌹💖

Next time I have to fix my hubbys jeans I will try this sewing skill. Thanks for sharing.
I wish you all the best 🌹 🌹💖
Beautiful invisible sewing.
I didn't think about lining up the grain - I'm not that experienced at sewing. Plus, I didn't even know about the soft fusing webbing that you used - only the one that goes hard once you've ironed it on. I'll look out for it.
Thank you for this tutorial.
Yes. I didn't know about the soft fusion either. The harder patches are terrible for this sort of thing. Tyvm
