Love Geoff's version of this one. About 50 yrs ago or so, we went to a Blood Sweat and Tears concert. Bill Withers did this song and I have loved it ever since.
Did just find your reaction, thank you very much! I love Reactors who can analyse what we see and hear. Maybe you can tell me.. when we understand Geoff´s intentions right, he does nothing without reason. So can you think of a reason why the screen is swaying all the time and out of focus at one point(1:50)? It´s making me slightly dizzy. This cracking sound he added (1:17) reminded me of the old Grammophone we see later. I did not hear the clock ticking before you mentioned it. I enjoyed your breakdown of this much loved song very much. Thank you!🍀
The camera is “swaying”, as you call it, as a videography creative touch. It’s also known as a sweeping shot or angle. It’s a way to make the video feel more immersive, since it captures the subject (Geoff, in this case) from a moving perspective. Regarding the “fuzziness” - it’s another creative touch. To slowly bring in an image from out of focus, into focus, is a way to emphasize your subject (Geoff, in this case). When it’s out of focus, it’s blurry and you can’t see any details. When it comes into focus, you start looking for details - and when it’s in full focus, Geoff is standing right in the middle of the screen. He has your full attention in that moment, visually. Regarding the crackling - yes, that is exactly the purpose of adding it in. To give it that old school touch, the sound of the scratch of a gramophone/record player. It’s a very subtle, yet genius way to further connect with the original cover, as well as the generation of music that this song came from.
@@EthanDrewMusic Thank you for answering! I appreciate it very much. To think Geoff going through all this trouble, when he had my attention all along!
I especially enjoy the Voiceplay and Geoff Castalucci reactios and appreciate your insights into the arrangement and performances very much. I also appreciate your showing the videos full screen with you as commentator in the inset, which makes the viewing more enjoyable. May I suggest that you put the inset screen into one of the lower corners of the large screen? When it is an upper corner it often blocks the view of some of the performers. Thanks for sharing your expertise!
Greetings. I just went through your Geoff Castellucci playlist and Jack's Lament wasn't listed. Have you reacted to it? I would love to hear your thoughts on that song
I love your insight into these songs. Thanks so much.
One of my Geoff all time favorites.

❤ I like that you have taken the time to do analysis
Geoff takes a song about feeling hollow and infuses it with a rich warmth and I find it fascinating because there's still an aura of emptiness.

you were right, it's a ticking clock. if I recall correctly, he chose the clock because of the theme of the song.
I have also heard it before, quite a few times😅

You’ve got a keen eye - that one will be coming soon to a TH-cam channel near you!
19:49 Geoff out hear growling at us...
Thanks Ethan
I would recommend Saint Chaos’s version of this song too. Is one of my favorite arrangements
My going to sleep song every night.
I've always had hesitation to liking the original song. To me the tone was too upbeat for the lyrics. Geoff fixed it perfectly.
