I think this is better than the original because with the visual of him showing his despair that "she" isn't there as he waits. Gives it a deeper message than the original.
Amazing, glad to see you enjoyed it so much! Yeah, this one is really powerful, and I always get the vibe that Geoff is coming back from a funeral to an empty house. That's just the energy that he gives off with the video.
Awesome reaction as always D J. This is the video that got me hooked on Geoff. He is the very first person I joined the patreon of. Then a couple weeks later I saw Dragonborn Comes and immediately joined Voiceplay patreon. Month later I watched Villains Haunted Mansion and found out that Layne Pattycake was with Voiceplay and immediately joined their patreon. Love ya kiddo💙
Yes, his voice is, "like butter coming to kill you." I think that's the best way to describe it ever spoken. Much love and your videos are awesome. 😆😁💯💜
Hope you and your SO had a great date! As Geoff has so many times, he took a song I was ambivalent about (I always thought Withers was too up-tempo for the story this song is telling) and with his arrangement and videography tells the story better than the original artist or previous covers. This was the video that marked a big change in Geoff's approach, imo, and he started exploring -- through his acting as well as song choice -- a much greater emotional range than he had before. The somber, bereaved guy here who needs a hug so badly was followed in the next video by the emotional opposite in Way Down, where we saw flirty, dancing Geoff and officially met Goff, Jeff, and Jeoph. Maybe Geoff was influenced by hanging out with expressive Cesar, who has such infectious joie de vivre, or just being able to focus on arrangements and videos instead of touring. Probably both.
This is one of his best ones, I love that low silky smooth rumbling tone he gets during this one. And the humming, I mean come on 😍 glad you enjoyed it! 💜🦌 #DJantlers #DJsHerd
I'm so glad that you comment on Geoff's higher range, and don't just get hyper-focus on the lows 😃 This one hit me so much in the feels when I first heard it that I almost cried and it still keeps feeling haunting.
Although this is one of my favorites of Geoff's, it's the only one that I have be kind of mindful of not listening to if I'm feeling at all depressed, the feels in this could really send me into a dark place if I let it, so emotional!
This was such a delightful reaction! And you look mighty spiffy in your date-night clothes! Didn't Geoff just melt your brain with that insane drop? This is one of my favorite solo (if you're not counting the Geoffettes LOL) of his. I can't get enough of Geoff, Voiceplay, or your always fun reactions!
Perfect reaction as expected. This song makes be feel things every time. Glad you liked it DJ.... and SIIRRR you looked so handsome, Peter is a lucky man. Hope your date night went well xx #DJsHerd
Oh goodie, I was waiting on you to do this one. ................so uh....don't take this the wrong way or anything....but I keep picturing date night with your poor SO just getting nothing all evening but GeoffGeoffGeoffGeoffGeoffGeoff.....HANG IN THERE, SIGNIFICANT OTHER! I SUPPORT YOU!!
This is still my favorite of Geoff’s covers. I love everything about it; the R&B feeling he gave it, the subtle remix, his lovely baritone vocals, the natural rumbling low chest notes, his acting! I love the original (and Shawn’s version!) but this version has everything I want.
This song to me is just a total eargasm. I think it will always be my favorite. And it got you in the right mood for date night with your guy! This song is so powerful. I never liked the original as I didn't think the tone matched the lyrics but Geoff made them match and now its my fave
Bill Withers wrote the song after watching the classic movie "Days of Wine and Roses." From what i understand, Geoff based his storyline in the video somewhat on that movie in tribute to Withers' inspiration.
I love this one!! I think the only one of his I like more is "Ghost Riders in the Sky." This one and "High and Dry" were pretty much neck and neck until he did Ghost Riders for Halloween. Still love Misty Mountains and Till Then as well.
Fabulous reaction! I love this song (although i don't melt as much with this as i do some of his others) but i was excited to be able to share it with you! 💗
What's the word for it? I'm gonna guess nonchalantly. Also - the little skippy part "anyti-i-ime" - he wrote and added it in since there is no actual chorus in the song.
You'll accuse me of blasphemy, but I have to say it. I prefer Geoff's higher ranges for solos. That's where the tonal quality of his voice is at its best. The bass drops are impressive, but not necessary for me to love his artistry unless the mood of the song calls for it. This one didn't. I realize that's just my opinion; don't get upset about it. Your reactions are always great -- I enjoy them immensely, and love hearing your opinions on the many artists you follow.
A song you MUST react to is Mad World by the Bass Gang. You will not be ready for the amount of bassy goodness in it. And the collab artist they have for that one, Elliot Robinson, is probably one of the lowest bass voices you'll ever hear. Hitting chest notes down at the bottom of the 1st octave where most other guys need to use subharmonics or chest fry
Honestly, I never liked the original of this song. It always felt so “poor me I deserve all the pity”. But this version, this version I like. Geoff’s voice and the changes he made, make a big enough difference. The bird adores this song and often asks for it before bedtime. So, it gets played, but I do reserve the right to insist that only Geoff’s version makes the cut. 😀
I was never impressed by the original by Bill Withers. Yes he wrote it but it seemed too upbeat to me for the words. Geoff gives it the angst it needs and deserves. He is gifted in being able to touch hearts and souls with his music and his voice. For me this demonstrates the highs and lows, and the all over the place feelings of being that frame of mind.
Geoff taking this song back to it's Delta Blues roots and cutting our hearts open.
He absolutely smolders in this one. So good, one of my favorites.
Geoff can sing any song and make it his own and I absolutely love that. And the way he takes us to the depths without warning us... It's so good!❤
I love Geoff in his higher range much as he’s magnificent in bass ❤🏴
I think this is better than the original because with the visual of him showing his despair that "she" isn't there as he waits. Gives it a deeper message than the original.

Love ya kiddo💙
Geoff sings this every time Kathy goes shopping.
This one convinced me that Geoff is a great actor!
Yes, his voice is, "like butter coming to kill you." I think that's the best way to describe it ever spoken. Much love and your videos are awesome. 😆😁💯💜
Geoff put so much emotion in this song. You can see the pain in his expressions & feel it in his voice. He is quite the actor as well.
Hope you and your SO had a great date!

Geoff's voice is the umami of music.
Goody! Enjoy your date!!❤❤
Told ya'! 😉
Great reaction, thank you!! ❤❤
Awesome reaction! This is the song that made me want to see Geoff in a movie! His acting in this video is so good!
Geoff puts all his feelings into his acting in this one. So brokenhearted I felt so sorry for him. He always fits a Yeah or a Come On.
Bonus points for correct usage of the word 'ineffable.'
This is one of his best ones, I love that low silky smooth rumbling tone he gets during this one. And the humming, I mean come on 😍 glad you enjoyed it! 💜🦌 #DJantlers #DJsHerd
This should be good.
When you get a chance, keep "Till Then" (cover of a WWII Mills Brothers song) in mind.
It would be another great date night song! It is just pure romance.
I'm so glad that you comment on Geoff's higher range, and don't just get hyper-focus on the lows 😃 This one hit me so much in the feels when I first heard it that I almost cried and it still keeps feeling haunting.
This is one of my favourite solo piece.i am glad you like it as well.🤗
This one hit me like bricks. Geoff ain't messing around...get ready to melt, DJ. This is my favorite Geoff cover
Although this is one of my favorites of Geoff's, it's the only one that I have be kind of mindful of not listening to if I'm feeling at all depressed, the feels in this could really send me into a dark place if I let it, so emotional!
I hope your date night went well. You look stunning! Love it when Geoff makes you melt. Same, mate. Same!
I think I never felt so envy. Hope your night was great, your partner is definitely very lucky
Perfect reaction as expected. This song makes be feel things every time. Glad you liked it DJ.... and SIIRRR you looked so handsome, Peter is a lucky man. Hope your date night went well xx #DJsHerd
Oh, to be that kitchen microwave... ❤🔥
"Butter thats coming to kill you" 💀
This is one of my favourites! Great reaction. Gotta to Warriors next please ❤
This my favorite of Geoff’s. He uses his low voice for musical impact, not just shock value (which I LOVE)!
Prepare to go wobbly 😂
This is one of my absolute favorite Geoff songs. Thank you for your great video.
Greetings from Germany 🙂

This is gonna be interesting! The question needs to be asked - will DJ survive this? 😄
Well done, like I know you would. Hope, you had fun later... 😂🎉❤
This is my 2nd favorite after ghost riders.... I'll make sure I have my tissues ready for tgis ones .
This is my absolute FAVORITE song he has done. When it pops up on my playlist it gets rewond two or three times. Thank you for my smile today.
So glad you got to see this one, it's one of my favorites of Geoff's solos.
Love your reactions to Geoff! Would love to see your reaction to Shenandoah.
oh yeah, Shenandoah is so beautiful
I love this one!! I think the only one of his I like more is "Ghost Riders in the Sky." This one and "High and Dry" were pretty much neck and neck until he did Ghost Riders for Halloween. Still love Misty Mountains and Till Then as well.
Such a great version, I'm also partial to Avi Kaplain's version.
Fabulous reaction! I love this song (although i don't melt as much with this as i do some of his others) but i was excited to be able to share it with you! 💗
Geoff is awesome! Love this song. Austin Brown does a version of this. You should check it out as well. Love your reaction!
Dang it I missed it!!!
Geoff’s low notes in this sound like a tiger purring….
Uh oh DJ is getting tortured tonight
i think PTX could pull that "eh-eh-eh" remix thing off as well.
Great reaction!! ❤
I think a reasonable way of describing some of his cover versions of songs would be to call them "sparingly instrumented". or "sparingly orchestrated"
What's the word for it? I'm gonna guess nonchalantly.
Also - the little skippy part "anyti-i-ime" - he wrote and added it in since there is no actual chorus in the song.

Which is why he still calls himself a baritone, because it is where he has the widest range of styles and emotions.
Next date night watch I can’t make you love me - melt melt melt
Have you done Ghost Riders in the Sky yet?

Much prefer this short of Avi Kaplan sitting in his cabin deep in the forests and hills of Tennessee.

He is definitely a bass, but I don't like his voice as well as Tim's.
