Gladys Knight demonstrates what today's pop singers lack: using phrasing to convey a sense of emotionalism and immediacy. The way she sings these pieces are so individual and have so much integrity. Even the "shouters" like Aretha and Patti have this ability. I miss this kind of true identification with a great song that people like Gladys Knight exemplify. Thanks for uploading.
Antoine Garth aretha, patti, gladys, barbara striesand are all old school singers....what each of these women could do with a note....AMAZING!!...with the evolution of music we are no longer in a time where music is based on the singing ablity of voclist...we are now in a time where it is about the producer of a song not the vocalist singing it...the industry is influx because of this. people are not buy muisc today because quality music is no longer being made.....the industry is no longer manufacturing quality/talented vocalist.....jennifer lopez, janet jackson are mature new school entertainers but have never ever been vocalists. anyone that has ever taken a singing lesson and can hold a note can be considered a singer...a truly gifted vocalist/singer is one who can contol a note from the time is framed in the diaphragm come up past the throat, out the lips and lands on the listeners ears....ie barbara,aretha.....
Phrasing has always been Gladys’s trademark. She will go down as one of the great songstresses of all time. She’s always been my favorite. I love you Ms Knight and thank you for being the soundtrack of my life.
Gladys Knight...what a powerful voice for such a powerful song. She paints a picture of that house as she reminisces. The violinist adds that special feeling to this very poignant melancholy song.
Gladys brings the music to her and powers over the entire orchestra. Notice her stage presence, hand movements, phrasing, and how she tells a story. Her gospel roots are strong, emotional and timeless. Gladys is one of the great singers of our time. And one person disliked this; how is that possible?
Gladys was wonderful. I listened to her when I was a young child because my mother loved her music. I listen to her today because I came to love her soulful sound. Simply beautiful!
Everything about this (for me) is just heaven on earth. The setting/altar, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir silently watching and listening, the singer, the song, the violinist, the orchestra. The orchestras introduction is particularly stunning. I am in complete awe.
I am so thankful to have experienced singers and musicians of this caliber. Am hoping today's young will someday rediscover and appreciate this level of quality. How sad it is that beautiful ballads are seldom performed anymore.
I was so fortunate to have see her debut concert at Carnegie Hall. She brought tears to your eyes, and sent shivers down your spine with every song. Between songs, she could not have been more funny, gracious or genuine. She was as lovely a person as her voice is beautiful. An unforgettable night.
The song is special ! as the composer as well ...and Gladys ...with what she was born......... VERY REACH ! AND FREE !! AND VERY SPECIAL ..... I'VE HEARD STREISAND.....BEAUTIFUL...CLASSIC... BUT AS GLDYS ....SUPRISINGLY AMAZING !!!!!! GOD BLESS YOU GLADYS ......A HUMAN BEING SUER TALENTED ....IS A HUMANBEING SUPERTALENTED ...IS YOU !!!! YOUR SOUL ! YOUR TEMPERAMENT ...... AND WHAT & HOW YOU FEEL..... LUCY
Typical top quality from Gladys! Awesome voice as always. Some of the current crop of so called singer should sit up and take notice this is what a female voice should sound like!
So gracious and pleased to embrace the violinist as an integral part of her performance. The diva types - and we all can name them - would never have shared their stage so warmly.
My favorite back in the day and still is, just stand flat foot and use what the Lord has given you. Natural. Gladys, Whitney and Le’Andria, then, then and now.
Wow...the violinist solo is beautiful. Ms. Gladys voice is stronger than ever. It's obvious she's gotten training over the years. Great performance. ? Where are they?....that orchestra is huge!!!
One of the great vocalist of our time!!! Long live Gladys knight.
This woman is an american legend...
She is in a class by herself and is greatly loved. She has been ill.
It was so nice to see how Gladys so graciously showed her appreciation for the
wonderful violin playing.
Well I have to admit the violin brought me to tears.

Well said Antoine Garth. A rare artistry at work here.
Antoine, I couldn't have agreed with you more, nor have said it any better. I love a genuine musical and quality ear; you show that my friend!
Phrasing has always been Gladys’s trademark. She will go down as one of the great songstresses of all time. She’s always been my favorite. I love you Ms Knight and thank you for being the soundtrack of my life.

She is an old school "pro" who can sing and deliver a positive, romantic message.

Gladys Knight...what a powerful voice for such a powerful song. She paints a picture

Wow....this was so sublime. I can't find words adequate enough to describe how this made me feel. What a night to remember for those who were there.
Everything about this (for me) is just heaven on earth. The setting/altar, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir silently watching and listening, the singer, the song, the violinist, the orchestra. The orchestras introduction is particularly stunning. I am in complete awe.
