Hi Lisa and Niall! It's Lucy and Matthew whom you met at the Forest View a few days ago. Nige told us about your channel and we are now watching your videos to keep us from missing the PW too much. Sorry we didn't see you on that last day but congrats on finishing the PW! Looking forward to following you on your many adventures! xx
Hi Lucy and Mathew. Thank you so much. Congratulations to you too. It was lovely spending time with you and seeing you on the trail. We are visiting my cousin in Edinburgh and spending the day watching street performers at the festival. Back to work in a few days.
@@davidalexander287 we finished July 31. Started 20 days before that. So you're doing it again? Are you taking different routes this time? So I guess you had the same good weather as we did. Weren't we lucky.
@Tubba Travels it will be different and very ambitious route as I will be trying to visit places off the Harvey Map route such as Craig and Uag bothies along with Applecross.
@@davidalexander287 I've not heard of Applecross but I believe at Craig there is a hostel with a rather interesting man who runs it. Quite eccentric I hear. If I do it again I would like to do the same route as it was spectacular but I would probably end up taking different options in the spirit of new adventure. Good luck I wish you well.
Just found this series of your travels, I am looking forward to watching all of your journey. Thank you for sharing it, my first impression is its going to be one of the better ones on youtube.
Sup Daz? It really was. Lots of people heading out on that trail this year. I'm following the facebook of the trail and it's getting popular. I think as one gets more north it will empty out still.
Enjoyed the video, love your enthusiasm and the sense of humour. Thanks for the useful info as you go re camping spots 👍 I notice you wearing boots, many other people I've seen on their trail videos talk about using trail shoes, I'm a dyed in the wool boot man myself and when (2024, hopefully) I get to tackle the CWT I'd love your feedback on whether the boots worked out for you!. Great stuff and hats off for sharing your adventures, look forward to next instalment.
Hi George. It's a hot potato for debate. I have seen the trench foot of some people who wore trail runners and it looks like it would take weeks to heal. There are also those who embrace wet feet all day everyday and seem to have no problems. When we went in July - August the rivers were not in spate and most we could easily cross. It may have become a big pain if all the rivers were much deeper. Before we left we made the decision to take little river crossing shoes and take our time to carry our boots across and dry our feet on the other side. Apart from a silly slip in a river we kept our feet dry the whole time but it does take longer stopping to take boots off and dry the feet on the other side but we were in no rush.
Great video looking to do the CWT in September and using this as a reference thank you. What was the mapping you used in 3D? really like how you can look at the route before you go great idea 😊
we plot a gpx route into a free online planner , gps training it's called and then upload that file to the ordinance survey app which you pay for and it makes 'fly bys.' We only did it afterwards so we didn't see the route before hand but that would have been a good idea. Actually Map girl recorded the route, what we actually did on her phone in the ordinance survey app and then did a fly by so what you see is actually what we did but you could do it the first way I said to see your route before you go. I screen record it using quicktime. I'm happy the videos we made are useful to you. Nice one.
yes we have two,, one from morvich to Coire na sorna and then a second from coire na sorna to Strathcarron. I cannot find a way to paste them in this reply so if you find my email in my about me and message me I will send them to you for sure.
@@geoffking9484 just re read your question. From fort William to strathcarron I have several gpx files. My device , Garmin etrex 32 X only allows 250 way marks for each gpx file so I had to make several. Yes I still have them all if you want them.
Another great Video with an amazing adventure, i truly believe your channel does not get the recognition it deserves, your content is amazing and ya both really likeable people. Keep up the amazing work. Also by the way what tent are you know using?
Thank you Heather. The chest pack is called a multi day pack and it is made by Z packs. It only has one compartment but it really is a good one, not quite water proof but very water resistant.
Just in case you mean mine Heather 😉 mine is a OMM bag. I love it, big compartment for my to hand stuff but also a pull down part at the front for the map which is great. Again, like Niall's not fully waterproof so things need to be kept in zip lock bags inside just in case of downpours.
Great video guys - im new to your channel and doing the CWT in May so hoping to learn as much as possible from your adventures! If you have a kit list to share that would be great?
Hi Dave. Thank you. If you have any questions about the CWT I'd be happy to answer if I can. Here is the video with the kit list, full list at the end if you want to skip ahead. th-cam.com/video/cRtsQw4WxLk/w-d-xo.html
Hi Dave, you won't be disappointed it's truly an amazing adventure. As well as Niall's kit I carry the jet boil, gas, cups and windshield, although I would like a new lighter windshield so I'll be looking into one for the next hike.
I sorry to tell this not true cape route that go north out of fort William to lock ness. This is just the link to the cape route to join inthe real cape path and the national Scot trail which joins below lick ness off the rob roy way at the junction with the canal ! If you download loads the date file you find this fact off the cape route gps file. It hay hay. It doesn’t change it great walk up to the cape track 3 days later

(I don't think you tube allows you to put your email address in. I tried it once as well and it also disappeared.)

Bringing back memories as I was on the trail during July 22 also.
I wonder if we passed each other.?
@Tubba Travels I was wondering, stated 6 July and finished 28 July. I'm getting mixed up with dates, doing it again in June.

Man that was a close one crossing the stream holding a GoPro you won't be making that mistake again in a hurry! Looking forward to watching this...🍺🎅
Ain't that the truth. Honestly I kicked my self at my stupidity but then laughed it off.
Looks like another bucket list trail ;#)
It is a great adventure Larry
Did the Cape Wrath Trail last year when I realised, at 65, my bucket list items were being moved over to my "I wish I had done that list"
