Hi. It was great to stumble across dubs hut as going over the lakes hills took much longer than anticipated and we didn't make it as far as we had hoped but it all worked out with the bothy and the fire.

Hi Iain. We have friends in Linz and went to visit them the summer just gone and while we were there we thought it was about time to explore the Alps. We did two hut to hut hikes, this was the first. I love Austra too.the huts are difficult to book as you have to book months in advance on the day they release the dates or else they sell out. It was a logistically difficult trip to arrange. Sitting here in cold wet England I'm jealous of the sun you are enjoying. Yes the dolomites are on my list. So much to do, so little time with work and all. Happy Christmas. I look forward to seeing your Japan videos. Another country I'd love to visit.

Ah yes Dave those long summer days are the best. I enjoy getting cosy on a winters day though. Everyone enjoyed themselves on this trip and the time passed too quickly. I've been working hard lately, marking students work every night but today we break up for two weeks and I've got all the marking done yey.

Thank you. The rhymes keep me occupied on the long stretches, thank you I'm glad you smiled. There are some rocky bits but it's a do-able hike with lots of wild camping spots along the way. Your comment is always much appreciated.

The rhymes, ha ha, I make em up as I'm walking and although I film a lot there is a lot of quiet time as well hearing beats In my head. The island is referred to as Scotland in miniature you are right. You did Skye so maybe Arran is there for you to do one day. Cheers mate, have a good weekend.

@FlyingScot yes me too. The weather could make or break that one. I've never had to go through a full week of solid rain yet on the trail. We had three days rain on the Pennine way but woke up to sun on the fourth day. One more days rain might have broken us. My mum always said I should go to the outer Hebrides so I will for sure one day.

Hi Dave, after 4 days of wild camping the campsite and shower was great. £5 can't go wrong. The rapping, always just a bit of fun, making up the rhymes while I'm walking. I did like whiting bay. I think you could get away with wild camping in the village itself . There is a completely different attitude to camping in Scotland. How is the storm up your way. Pretty calm down here on the whole.

I think that is a good description.

Hi Iain Yes we were careful not to camp on the course itself. We met a lady up the road who has an interest in the golf course and she said they sometimes find people camped on the golf course and as golfers start really early (6 am or so) they have to wake them up and say wtf? She found it amusing though. The attitude to wild camping in Scotland is so different to here, it's wonderful. Welcome home, I look forward to seeing your vlogs. I wish i made a dyneema poncho. I bought a really expensive one from z packs. It does do the job and is totally waterproof. Sure there are the arms where water comes in but put on a gaffa taped frog toggs and you're good to go. I think all of us hikers are on the hunt for a completely waterproof set up. Turns out frogg toggs are not completely waterproof as after 8 hours of rain in Arran the arms did wet through a bit. Still bloody good but not 100% waterproof. You have to have the 8 hour rain day to really know what waterproof is.

Good Sunday morning Iain. I was in Arran 22 years ago with mu mum and brother just for a day trip. We were in Ayr looking at Robert burns stuff and went for a day trip just to Brodick castle but it was a grand day out so I was happy to go back. Lisa and me re crated some photos from that time which was a bit of fun.

Well you were once again close to me! I actually stayed across from Burns cottage when I worked at Digital Computers in Ayr!

@@FlyingScot fantastic. The cottage is really cool, looks good and you get a real feel for life back then. I also remember the brig o Doon very well. Oh great memories with my mum and brother.

Hi Leilani, the breakfast roll was a god send. We did research this island hike before we went but still we found unknown gems like this cafe which was so welcome. A full English / Scottish breakfast is so nice when you are hiking.
