About 5 months ago we traded in our Audi Q5e, which had endless problems, and shopped for something a little bigger. We looked at everything in the class, and the Genesis came out on top. A comparable BMW, Audi, or Mercedes was all leasing for at least $400/mo more and offered less for that higher payment. To top things off, the Genesis offers free maintenance during the lease, and even has concierge service. When I need to service the vehicle, they bring a loaner car to my home or office, and then drop off my car when it's done. Mercedes and Audi wanted around $3500 for a 3-year maintenance plan, and my local BMW dealer has free maintenance, but never has a loaner car in stock.
If the payments were equal, I would have gone with the BMW X5, but I couldn't justify the cost difference. My wife now prefers the Genesis, especially the interior which is much nicer than the competition.

Hey man, I really appreciate your page. The information you provide is always a huge help. I never comment on TH-cam videos, but since this is the second video I caught where you’re questioning how Genesis is doing so well against top-tier German competitors, congrats first comment lol. Brother are you living under a rock? True, when Genesis first hit the market no luxury car driver would make the leap, especially since their design language was a hodgepodge stolen from other auto makers. But since Genesis introduced the GV 80 and the GV 70 their reviews have universally been stellar. BTW, I have been an Audi or BMW driver for almost two decades and do not currently own a Genesis. But, not living under a rock, wink, wink, I’ve read a ton of reviews and from ride quality to their modern interiors with excellent fit and finish to their own signature exterior design language, along with the longest warranty available and reliability ratings, of course, they are starting to blow up in the luxury market. We also can’t ignore that BMW‘s design language has gotten out of hand for the majority of people’s liking. That’s it, had to say my peace and I am definitely test driving the GV70 before I purchase my next SUV in a year or so.

I have owned 3 X5's in the last 7 years. The maintenance costs at the BMW dealerships are insane even with a warranty. I bought a 2025 GV80 Prestige in October for around the same price as a base X5 would have cost. I am very impressed. The Genesis has many features the BMW just does not have. Interior scent system, power rear seats, power rear peasant blockers, blind spot cameras, rear view mirror camera, ability to summon car to move forward or reverse remotely if in a tight parking spot, twin sunroofs, and more that I am probably forgetting. The ride quality is excellent, but the gas milage is not so good at around 15 mpg. Performance is equivalent to the BMW with a 6 cyl. twin turbo and 375 hp. Plenty of pickup for a large SUV ( I can attest to this as I got a speeding ticket on the second day of ownership)The interior luxury feel is very good with a 2-tone 3 spoke steering wheel like in a Bentley, and diamond stitch leather seats and alcantara everywhere. The 27" screen is awesome and very responsive. I get lots of people asking me my opinion on this vehicle when I am out and about. The paint quality could be better, as I see some orange peel on the rear quarters. This is still an awesome refresh Genesis has come out with. The Germans have got so serious competition now. Highly recommended.

@skiptumilu2620 did you lease all those X5s? I'm assuming but don't want to assume. I've been looking at the X5 but concerns about what the reliability truly is with them keeps me from pulling the trigger.

Thank you for this information. Very useful. If you want to know why Genesis is doing well, just test drive back to back with the Germans at the same price point. You will notice the huge different in materials, features and build quality. Me and my wife tested all of them and really, to get a MB or a BMW as nice as a Genesis, you need to pay tens of thousand more, and even there, you’ll be surprise finding out that the 2025 GV80 is more tasteful and elegant, without having the over complicated stuff like air suspension or 48V mild hybrid that will cause long term ownership a nightmare of high cost maintenance. Hands down is a better buy, and it’ll be noticed over time.

BMW’s styling is awful, especially the interior. Same goes for Mercedes. I drove Mercedes since 2008. However, in September I bought a GV70 instead of buying another GLC300. Mercedes absolutely RUINED the interior of the GLC300.

The Genesis GV80 has more second row comfort features compared to the X5 so the GV80 is actually a better value for its lower price compared to an equivalent for an X5 with similar features while it would still be missing features the GV80 has. You can't even manually or power recline the second row seats in the X5, & they don't offer ventilated second row seats or power side window sunshades for the second row. They only offer manual side window shades. You can only get heated seats in the second row. The GV80 has nearly the same performance of the X5 with a nicer interior & more available luxury features for less $ than the X5

For people who love to drive, I'm not sure if there's any combo out there that's comparable to the B58+ZF transmission combo.. And maybe 10 years ago Mercedes rides better and softer than BMWs, but I can't say the same anymore.. the ride in the new X5 is nothing less than spectacular..

@@keith692 I care far more about it's luxury chops (quietness, smooth ride, premium feeling interior) than I do about the performance of the engine. Pretty much any SUV on this range that I'm considering has enough capability from an engine standpoint to meet my needs so it's not really a differentiator. Essentially the increased performance of an X5 means nothing to me. The other luxury features by Genesis blows away pretty much any equivalent vehicle from other luxury manufacturers.

Dealers are always a hit and miss, and Genesis is not an exemption, but the GV80 3.5T engine is not in any other brand of the group (Hyundai or Kia), and neither the rear wheel drive architecture, so is not fair put it in the same bucket, since unlike Lexus, that share Everything with Toyota, or Audi that share also engines and transmission with VW. I’m in my third Genesis now and had 0 issues with engines, transmission or any mechanical problem.
