As much as I wish he had way more screentime, I actually enjoy that we get limited scenes of him because it at least expands his evil arc instead of just fixing his problems in one season.
THANK YOU FOR MAKING A VIDEO ABOUT JAY! I totally agree with you here, exploring other aspects of his character was very needed, and I can't wait to see what they do next. Great video!!!
Thankyou for talking about his flanderization, I hope the show fix his him being more than the 'comic relif' and 'nya's yang' and bring back his inventing side and I really hope they don't make him "the weak one" again and show more likeable aspects of his character, great video❤️😊
I really like how they're taking their time with Jay and all the mystery surrounding him. It appears that he might have a bigger role next season, which is exciting, specially with his whole new identity. I hope they find a way to restore his memories and merge it with who he is now.
Good to have you back - it's been worth while the wait - yes I agree Jay's storyline in Dragons Rising has been great so far. The way he's lost and confused, only to be found by someone like Ras who manipulates and uses him instead of his family, is a really fascinating idea - and when he says to Nya, the love of his life, that he will always hate her, it breaks my heart. I think his goodness can be fixed, using Shatterspin - it's said to not destroy someone's goodness but shatter it, and shattered things can be put back together, but year I'm also very excited to see where his story goes next. Something you just made my think about: do the other Ninjas besides Nya even know Jay is adopted, has he told them that he was adopted since Sky bound was a waste?
@lasseehrenreich5502 Interesting point about shatterspin! Honestly I don’t think anyone except probably Nya knows because I do remember Jay offhandedly mentioning it to the group in skybound so if Nya still remembers everything she should remember that
Another thing you forgot to mention Another reason why it was so devastating to Nya because in the Bloodmoon Arc when they were in the cave, Nya is the one to break the illusions of fear. Her fear was Jay forgetting her and she said he'd never forget her. Also Jay was shown to be a capable fighter in the opener of S7, he didn't hesitate with Acronix I also recall some were saying Evil Jay is like Oni Lloyd. Crusty783 explains it better on why it's not like Oni Lloyd but I agree with you and him that it works better for his character
@Ruben99677 no like, how tf he knows a good ninja is good at fighting? Ras must have said ninja are bad people or something not "if they're Ninjago they're good at fighting
@Ruben99677 no boi you aren't getting what I am saying. Why Ras will tell about Jay how bad the ninja are. Meanwhile with the "terrible ninja" line it seems like Jay knows what a ninja is (fyi in ninjargon "ninja" means protector)
You know what, I feel like I’m the only person that sees the parallel similarities between jay/rogue and Bucky Barnes/winter soldier. Both used to be noble heroes fighting alongside their friends but were ultimately captured by their enemies, brainwashed, and forced to fight the same people they once called friends. If jay does end up having an arc similar to Bucky Barnes from the second cap movie, it will be perfect for his character.
I honestly wouldn’t mind if Jay has permanent memory loss and the whole team has to cope with it and the dynamic that would play on Jay and Nya’s relationship would be interesting, trust issues, regret of what he did but moments he’s still confused of what’s real or not and if the rest of the ninja are telling him the truth
I completely agree with everything you said in this video for the longest time Jay was always my least favorite ninja I don’t hate him but for longest time the writers just didn’t want to give anything to him he’s just a comic relief, character and not a funny one but annoying one especially in 11 minute era he was just annoying and kind of insufferable at least to me but dragons rising has finally given jay a good story the fight scene between him and nya was peak and the voice acting too was great I was not a fan of high pitch voice so I’m very glad it got a little deeper and the callback to season 4 with them to grab a blade to win was a great I love what dragons rising is doing with Jay and can’t wait to more of him in season 3 I can’t believe I’m saying that, but I am
Well done! I actually didn't realize how the slivers of his screentime were kept short for a reason; the reintroduction point is great! The only thing I think should have been stressed more is the sheer scale or how unmasculine he is as a husband. For starters, psychologically, that should be wrecking Nya, and taking on a responsibility like engagement should be a maturing force; the miss to fix what a pansy he's been was horrid! And I wouldn't say Kai had an arc, he didn't really change this season, he just had excellent characterization and showed he's now a fully developed adult. Great vid!
Bro made a video longer than how much he’s been in the show-
Ok and?

"His power was the only thing that was actually his post merge, the only remaining reminder about who he once was."
That was an EXCELLENT point.

I actually like how Jay was once an inventor

I can't believe jay believe ras instead of nya
season 3 better have him though especially with the rumors of potential storyline for his character.

They are not married.
