Dravida - is a southern Indian Brahmins surname eg. Rahul Dravid etc. He may be a Brahmin from Andhra or Karnataka that is why he support Dravidam. Tamil Brahmin and Tamilian will not support Dravidam which defame and suppress Tamil and Tamilians in the last 7 decades. Dravidam is created for those come from other states to hide their identity - act and behave like Tamils but quietly support their native languages and state and suppress Tamil and Tamils.
Bhramins is existing over a 5000 years or more there is no necessity for bhramins to cheat or woodwink any more u suppress them more they grow.
So further dravidam simply means southern. Adi Shankar called himself as Dravida Putra ,Dravidam repeat it is not a race.now you use it to fan out caste communal feeling.I have have heard this EVRamasami.

I beg to differ .AVADI- refers to armoured vehicles &ammunition depot of India established during the British.rule.Avadi clothing factory also was there before freedom but the Tank manufacture started later by converting Tanks maintenance establishment.

Avadi n many more industries only during Kamaraj time between 1957 to 63 . He asked Nehru to give RV to TN as he wanted to develop industries n employment. RV at that time a MP n also Simpson labour leader. Kamaraj not only developed TN industrially also Agriculture Devpt thru BIg dams.

Later justice party started the scheme as kanji for children.it was not failure. Later congress elected governments before independence failed to execute effectively.
Later kamraj started mid day meal scheme which was continued.
But it was during mgr regime it became nutritional meal scheme and was extensively spread throughout the state.
Thanks to ias officer dhiraviyyam for planning it efficiently.
This scheme continues till day through subsequent governments

As far as i know the Govt of Madras introduced the mid-day meals in the schools of Madras Corporation during Congress rule when Shr K. Kamaraj was the CM. Many children used to carry their own plate in their school bag to get this meal. The corporation central kitchen will prepare the food and send it through their lorries to various schools. The school HM and other teachers were involved in this scheme apart from imparting education. Also books and uniforms were distributed free every year during that period. After 1967 the scheme died a slow death unless it was revived by Shri. MGR in 1977 as chief Minister Noon Meals Programme in all the chennai corporation school by providing infrastructure at schools, kitchen water supply and wastewater disposal arrangements in a very fast mode.

வரலாறில்லாமல் எந்த அறிவியல் ஆராய்ச்சியும் பண்ண முடியாது. ஆனால் பொதுவாக வரலாற்றுப் பாடத்தில் லேண்ட்மார்க் விஷயங்கள்தான் இருக்கும். அவையும் முக்கியமானவைதான்.
ஆனால் நாம் வேலை காசு முன்னிட்டுத்தான் படிக்கிறோம்.

அந்தக் காலக்கட்டத்தில் மாணவர்களின் தேவைக்கேற்ப மருத்துவக் கல்லூரி, பொறியியல் கல்லூரி, ஆர்டஸ் கல்லூரிகளை ஆரம்பிப்பதற்கு போதுமான நிதியும் இல்லை.
ஆனாலும் தேவையைப் பூர்த்தி செய்தாக வேண்டும் என்ற நிலையில் தான் சுய நிதிக் கல்லூரிகளுக்கு MGR அனுமதி வழங்கினார்.
நிறைய கல்லூரிகள் உருவாகக் காரணமாக இருந்தார்.
எதிலும் உள்ள குறைகளை மட்டும் சுட்டிக்காட்டும் நபர்கள் அதன் நன்மைகளையும் குறிப்பிட்டால் தான் நல்ல சிந்தனையாளர்களாக முடியும்.

But as far as I understand, Kamarajar introduced mid day scheme after visiting Sourashtra Higher Secondary school in Madurai. It was to encourage children to come to school and since it served the purpose, Kamarajar got it as a Govt scheme.
Absolutely you are right. Mr.sriram purposely want to spread wrong history.
In those days there were no Higher secondary schools only High schools.

In Tamil Nadu Tamil people call themselves Tamilan. Mostly Telugu political movements in Tamilnadu call themselves as Dravidan. EvR is a Telugu Naicker started Dravidan party opposing Brahmin supremacy.. Tamilnadu has many Telugu chief ministers. Dravidan social justice is really a Telugu supremacy in Tamilnadu

So, when Dravidian movement started, it was meant for everyone in Madras state, even south India, hence included tams, telgu, kannadiga or any language living in this region.
If you cannot see this simple fact but want to group based on tribalistic measures, then the only kattuvasi here is you.

Well, it certainly seems very interesting that EvR, Ann*durai, D@kshinamoorthy(known more famously by his epithet - Kalignar K@runan1dhi) all have T3lugu ancestry. Whether it is just "rare coincidence" or if there is truth to your theory wud require some research that no one may undertake and/or dare to reveal its findings, as long as the present dispensation is in power. The historian in the video above conveniently side-stepped a) the political connotations that the equality movement Dr@vidianism has acquired in recent decades and b) the impostors in media/politics that are taking credit for the same - when in fact credit is due elsewhere - for the same reasons mentioned in previous line. What is also irksome, is the way he cleverly avoided the responsibility of factual-correctness by saying there is "no ONE TRUTH".
A safe answer, very often, can not be an honest answer.

During Julius ceaser s period Madurai is a wealthy city where Europeans did trade.. so the traders used the name to their place and named as Madrid.. later it returns back to TN ad Madras by British.

Re: The term Dravidians , it's not only about social equality . As you mention Sriramji, we need to do proper research in this subject. India is racially blended nation comprising of the original indigenous Austric ( Gonds ), Dravidians ( mix of Negroid and Austric ) , Mongoloid ( NE India) people. The Aryans came into What we call as India/Bharat was populated by the 3 former racial groups of people. The Aryans came in through Kashmir and the West (Khyber Pass) Iran and Afghanistan 10,000 to 7000 years ago. In this past ten millennium India is the most racially blended country in the world. This nation is a religious, cultural and spiritual confluence of two great "rivers " (Vedic and Tantric) philosophies and practices which shaped Indian psyche and way of life which still continues evolving. In the words of Historian Shri P R Sarkar :
" Long Co-existence of the Two and Their Mutual Exchanges in Different Spheres
As a result of co-existing with the non-Aryans for a long time, the Aryans learned many things from them. In fact there is hardly anything of Aryanism left in them today. Of course, the non-Aryans also took on certain Aryan traits, among them their fair complexion, their proficiency in various activities, and their ostentatious lifestyle. From the non-Aryans the Aryans acquired a well-knit social system, a subtle insight, spiritual philosophy and Tantra sádhaná. In the beginning the Aryans tried hard to preserve the purity of their blood - Shúdras used to be kept scrupulously at armʼs length - but such endeavours and precautions eventually proved a failure. More or less everywhere in India there was intermixing between the Aryans and the non-Aryans - the Dravidians, the Austrics, and the Mongolians - which resulted in a new mixed race. This is why dark Vipras and fair Shúdras are not at all rare in India today. Their very colours pay testimony to the intermixture of Aryan and non-Aryan blood running in their veins.
The victorious Aryans, coming from cold countries, were a skilled and competent race. Their competence, their sense of superiority over the non-Aryans, and their unity born out of hatred for the non-Aryans, helped them in their victory over India. Though the non-Aryans were defeated by the Aryans in northern India, though the non-Aryans of southern and eastern India were under the spell of an inferiority complex, none of them surrendered to the Aryans without a fight. As they were constantly engaged in warfare with the Aryans, they became much more proficient in battle. Thus Aryan victory in southern and eastern India eventually became impossible. In the accounts of major battles fought between the Aryans and the non-Aryans, as depicted in the Sanskrit books written in the subsequent period,(3) the non-Aryans display no less competence than the Aryans.
Aryan life was full of noisy revelry and pomp, whereas non-Aryan life was simple and unostentatious, although it was the non-Aryans who had access to more developed forms of material enjoyment. But when the non-Aryans came in contact with the Aryans, they became tempted to enjoy pomp and splendour. Such a lifestyle proved more harmful to the comparatively inactive non-Aryans, inhabitants of a tropical country, than to the active and hardy Aryans.
The Aryans outside India had neither a well-structured social system nor any clearly-defined marital discipline. “Might is right” was the order of society. Nevertheless there was a predisposition in them to mould a society. The non-Aryans had happy families. They were characterized by a well-knit social structure and strong conjugal relationships. Even those nature-worshipping ethnic groups forming part of the Austric population of non-Aryan society, though comparatively backward, had very strong family relationships. So when the Aryans came in contact with these non-Aryans, they found new light for the formation of a society.
With the exception of a few munis and rśis, the militant (kśatriya-predominant) Aryans used to view the world with an extoversial outlook. After major battles they would kill the men of the conquered community, employ their children as servants, and either marry the women or employ them as maidservants. For that reason there was a large number of male and female slaves in their society.
War-loving races are generally careful to honour the rules and laws of war, and frame new laws to suit the convenience of warring armies. Thus, the Aryans displayed a commendable sense of discipline during war. Being a war-loving race, it was but natural for them to do so. The non-Aryans, however, were backward in this regard. During their battles with the Aryans they did not respect the rules and laws of war (such as not to strike at the defenceless, not to employ more than one fighter against another, not to kill a retreating or surrendering soldier or a soldier begging for mercy). Not only was this highly irritating to the Aryans; the lack of a disciplined military mentality was actually one of the main reasons for the non-Aryansʼ defeat.
Usually the non-Aryans were content with little. What was developed in them was their introspective nature, which not only made them devotees of God, but infused in them a surging love for spiritual philosophy. The religious practices of the Aryans, however, entailed performing certain sacrifices in order to attain certain materialistic gains. That is, their religious observances were mainly ritualistic. On the whole, the non-Aryans were followers of Tantra, or subjective sádhaná. Of course the non-Aryans, depending on their different degrees of intellectual development, ranged all the way from animists to Brahma sádhakas [intuitional practitioners whose goal is the Absolute]; but in general, individual sádhaná ranked very high. The religion of the Vedic Aryans was, as a rule, one of prayer. It did not include even the subtlest hint of any intuitional meditation. And here lies the difference between the Brahmaváda of the Vedas and the Upanishads on the one hand, and that of Tantra on the other.

Aryans came to Indian subcontinent only after indus civilisation was destroyed. There are no traces of Sanskrit or Vedic remnants found in the excavations. Indus civilisation is prevedic civilisation.so Aryans came to Indian sub continent 3500 years ago
