Paint It Black is one of my favorites too
I would be interested in how he announced INXS - New Sensation.
His words about Michael Hutchence are legendary
Can anyone make a TH-cam playlist? 🙏
Doesn't pick a Beatles song because he ripped most of them off.... Still a fucking Legend tho!
I remember getting Achtung Baby on vinyl in late 1991. They had put the main colour label on the B side, so I assumed that was the A-side start of album. I listened to it, thought it was great, then just imagine my reaction when I listened to the actual A-side. I remember being blown away by it.
It’s a satisfying feeling watching this video and guessing the songs from the description before he announces them. It’s even more satisfying knowing they mean as much to Noelly G as they do to you. Hope this music lives on for years to come.
First song - ABBA
Didn't see that coming
Some great bands in there. Hats off for mentioning Tears for Fears as they are incredible.
I did not know he liked Tears for Fears. I listen to some of their songs often. I guess I like them more now.
That “Bass player from Coldplay” joke will be on Noels gravestone. When he haunts us from beyond the grave, he will introduce himself as that. Despite the terror, we will still smile.
Lol he said that in Whats in My Bag
“The two birds in it - proper fit!” 😂😂
Yes, jumpin jack flash, my favourite song
Absolute fucking banger
Two birds in it - proper fit!
The Chills - Wasn't expecting that.
Ditto
Despite watching Rage, I am still just a rat in a cage.
A couple of interesting little nuggets about Noel's taste in this vid. Firstly I was little surprised how much he likes TFF, but they did write great 80's pop songs, Everybody Wants To Rule... is amazing. It's still surprising how he chose them over anything by say The Stone Roses for example.
Also when he says U2 had a musical revamp after Joshua Tree, it was actually after the album Rattle and Hum, which got a lot of negative reviews at the time. There was an interesting BBC doc on Achtung Baby in 2011, Bono said it was the Madchester dance rock bands The Happy Mondays and Stone Roses in '89/'90 which made them realise they had to modernise their sound.
Rattle and Hum was a half live album, side-step album, so it didn't really count artistically speaking.
@@blackporscheroadster-yw8hb
It got some critical reviews when it came out though, that was my point.
The band felt out of time with the new styles they were hearing while they released and toured it.
That’s why they went to Berlin to come up with a new sound for Achtung Baby.
A similar thing happened with Underworld, who were a synth rock band in the late 80’s.
I love the video he made for "The Ballad of the Mighty I".
What no Phil Collins? Lol.
Can't fucking stand him either 🥂😎
🦖
Sus Sus Sussudio. 😝
Gr8 with early genesis foxtrot wind and wuthering
Phil Collins is #sh*ite and a proper 🔔🔚 too.
Funny how people say Bono s a prat, yet all the other rock stars and famous people who know him personally say he’s a right good guy, good laugh and unlike the media portrait of him he laughs at himself and doesn’t take himself seriously at all, also Noel correct the Joshua tree and achtung baby are2 brilliant albums
People are just thick and ignorant and only know the basics they see on mainstream media. Bono is a bona-fide legend. He's been married to the same woman for 30 odd years and to his band mates too....yep must be a right arsehole.
How's there no mention of The Stone Roses⁉️
.
Personal taste
Pffff he's got good taste in music.
Great taste , our Noel ... love 💕
4:43 - The La's part. Thank me later.
He mentions Lee Mavers and then the Bunnymen but not one nod or recognition to them lads from Marsh Lane .
To the person who liked my comment , nice one . You obviously know what I'm on about .
How did you know ?
thanks, that's what I came for!
@@pablojablo6371 They had the biggest influence on him and the band. He would've been fucked without the realies
This is the bass player from Coldplay😂
i love this man so much!
Ok
Bit of Zep. Love it.
The Wiggles was a real curve ball.
Waterloo Sunset 😍
Chris sharrock great drummer...got to know him well through the icicle works..glad he's with ya n doing well noel...gazzz
Bowie’s eyes are the same colour, one is permanently dilated so looks different
well said mate, was gonna write that
Guy Berryman
The Jam absolute beginners 💪
Woalu by abba
Seems like EVERYONE has a problem with Noel Gallagher’s opinion lol.
That's why it's called an OPINION and not statements of FACT. Get it?
He’s just awesome.
That was great but even better would be the songs that Noel hates
Fucking love it when he hates
I bet a lot of places on the list would be occupied by the Kaiser Chiefs.
All status quo I'd say
Well according to Noel I’m a genius:)
It would shock me if he actually presented NWA and Metallica.
No Beatles ??
Give it a rest😂
I was also born in 1967. I grew out of my classic rock phase.
What you into now
the 1970s.. greatest time of rock. u probably remember when The Wall came out in 1979
Bland, by numbers picks.
I'm a former music journalist and own over 2000 CDs and his picks are not bland. I don't agree with all of them, but they are not bland.
Jah wobble has done some great solo stuff.
Jah Wobble albums are great. Mu is awesome.
Didn’t know Noel liked LCD Soundsystem, my favorite song by them also!
No Beatles ?
"Eminence Font"
THE FUCKING WILDHEARTS NOEL U MUST OF HEARD OF THEM
@kevvcop u know shit about rock n roll
Never mentioned the two bands that were the biggest influence of them all on him and his brother.
Brother Beyond and Candy Flip.
.*I'm joking. The Beatles and The Stone Roses.
Yeah.... he just doesn’t want to admit that he stole the stone roses style and legit would just copy parts of Beatles songs
@@PeterParker-gp8bi don’t think he stole their style. Love the Roses, and like Oasis. Honestly don’t see much similarity except for Noel’s guitar work and knowing Roses we’re a big influence on them. Liam certainly can’t sing like Ian, who funnily enough is already an iffy singer lol
Exit: Beatles however, yes it’s clear their material is almost a Beatles ripoff at times lol
@@allbottledup9513liams a well better singer than ian
What,no Beatles?
I hate the beatles😂😂😂and oasis ha fuckin ha my opinion of coarse
Let’s dance 😳😳
ABBA was massive everywhere.
not so much in the US.
@@DenisMaksut-k2lreally?
@@Bonezy1001not quite as big. Rockers did not like them.
No Beatles?
2:20
What about Pulp? I thought he liked them. Maybe he just likes them as friends lol
No manic street preachers?
No mention of the Beatles or Beatles solo stuff? Maybe too obvious? Good list, nonetheless. always a pleasure listening to Noel.
Noels biggest influences was the Smiths and the jam, Liam is the one who loves the beatles
jumping fack jash
wow, thanks dad
Dave Davies is a great guitarist they say Page played session with them in the early days but I think Davies is the better guitarist.
No Blur
That's not surprising. Lol.
Is he naming all the bands he stole his music from? If it is I’d imagine it’d be 2-3 hours
🤣
Yeah but everyone’s “stole” from these groups he’s listed, so it’s not a big deal.
@@fivehead6675 it’s a massive deal, if your trying to pass yourself of as musical geniuses.
I mean with like 50 years of rock n roll, its kinda hard not to. But yeah I still love noel and Oasis
All your favorite bands “stole” from their predecessors. There is a beauty in being inspired by something and making your own song out of it. Noel’s not afraid there’s only 12 notes in music.
Noel has great taste in music for the most part lol
Public Image - good choice, Noel. But I think 'This is not a Love Song ' is better.
I thought he'll say death disco
@@Ami483 I hadn't ever heard that one. Sounds a bit dark to me. It would have been great if they had made more music because they seemed to have potential. John is such a good frontman too.
@@lizardlordlordoflizards5096 yeah good frontman but music is totally out of mainstream. Just listen to first album.. Blew your mind off
The beatles?
Fantastic hair.
???😅
Isn't that the guy that used to be in Oasis?
Yep
No that was his brother
supprisingly no Beatles song
Only top tunes there!
Dav EEEs , NOT Dav is...Davies. Even Ray can't pronounce his name , correctly...
Uh, the Who’s Tommy was not released in the 70’s. I mean really
The movie was.
@@Swampsong117 he was not talking about the movie
i hoped for some aschroft verve songs he forgot probeb
Always Bowie
👩🎤
So, What was the point!!!!!
And still no mention of the Real People 😉
Bass player from Coldplay!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Farkin Funny LOL
Would of been better with the songs of the artists.
What’s the point of a my favourite video talk, without the videos?
"They were on top of some shops .. or summat." Lol.
by the way it's about heroin
so what's the next video?
Weird that he does actually like INXS, given the comments made by both him and Liam in the past!
yeah man.. he’s seems kinda whack now. i wonder if him just talking shit was just an act.
if you actually research what happened behind the scenes with Michael, Noel & Liam then you’d know that Noel was only slagging Michael off because Michael had also been slagging them off & also there was a love ‘triangle?’ (only with four people) between Liam, Patsy Kensit, Michael & Paula Yates
Noel! You are WRONG about Achtung Baby coming out after The Joshua Tree. U2's next albam was in fact the awful Rattle and Hum.
I don’t think rattle and hum was awful
@@mysticedge4 Nor do I. Bullet the Blue Sky, Helter Skelter, AllI want is You, great songs.
U2 were great right up until just after Achtung Baby.
They should've split after Slane in 2001.
@@StratsRUs imo I don’t think the should’ve split after Slane
Bullet the blue is from the Joshua tree
Bad Bowie song !! there are better ones to play...
In your opinion
ABBA 🩷
Pretty straightforward/square choices... no surprises
I dont believe noel had to queue for a U2 cd!!! No way, im not having that, there wouldn't have even been a queue
Just proves how ignorant people like you are. u2 were massive in the early 1990s. They were on every music magazine cover. I know as was/am a huge fan. I remember Radio 1 did an entire day devoted to just U2 and the Achtung Baby album.
@@molotovcocktail6671 hahaha, I'm not having that.....I don't know anyone that likes them let alone queue for a CD!!
@@teddyboy9116 You're clearly an ignorant prick. 20 million copies of Achtung Baby have been sold.
@@molotovcocktail6671 ok then, 20 million copies sold worldwide, that still wouldn't have amounted to a Q outside woolworths though mate!!! Hahaha
@@teddyboy9116 It was Our Price and highly anticipated albums by massive bands like U2, regularly had queues to buy them. A bit like the latest Apple iPhone now were people queue. Achtung Baby was probably one of the most anticipated albums in music history. I actually bought it on vinyl as CDs and CD players weren't very common then.
Does he just like rock?
Are u blind?
Smokes it every day
He probably knows at least one member of every rock band people wanted him to mention.
I guess you want to read:
HIP HOP
RAP
JAZZ
ANYHOW, I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT YOU ARE WRONG OB THIS PAGE😁
YOU CAN ALSO WAIT TO MEET QUEEN ELIZABETH IN A PUP IN Manchester at 3 am.
Or wait until the sun is big enough to reach the earth
Yep, pretty much which is why white people are the most boring music fans
didnt see any videos tho.
Abba got zero points by England!
Parody of a rockstar
Rockstar😂
You're a parody of a prick. You're not even a very good prick.
No AC/DC?
Dont really think its his scene mate
I mean, if you've heard one of their songs, you've heard 'em all.
yeah not the same kinda music
@@applescruff1969 True. Much prefer Midnight Oil when it comes to Aussie rock.
To much rnr acdc for him boring list noel not surprising
Glad to see some Echo appreciation
Echo brilliance
5:33
1:06 “two brothers in a band that I can relate to, I feel their pain”
Classic Noel
Tears for fears were/are just so underrated.
'Suffer The Children' was a great record but wasn't a big hit.
Songs from the big chair
On what planet are TFF "so underrated"? They sold 40 million and get tons of doting press coverage. Bands like Talk Talk, OMD and Japan (all early influences on TFF) are *actually* underrated.
I agree, I know they have sold many records and that but I still feel like they never/don’t get the recognition they deserve
@@BAztid selling millions of records means the music is popular, Justin Bieber has millions of sales of empty catchy songs. I comment was about that TFF’s songs were under rated for the quality of their music and Lyrics
I’m glad Noel is a fan of Tears For Fears. “The Beatles of the 80’s”. I wasn’t aware he was that much of a fan.
Fuck the Beatles. They’re the tears for fears of the 80s.
Head over heels is a serious tune
He probably isn’t, he pretends to like loads of bands he’s had minor run-ins with over the years who he’s never mentioned before- his latest one is The Coral
@@odw_99 he's always been a fan of the Coral. Here he is performing with them ten years ago th-cam.com/video/08fCUdu1FBs/w-d-xo.html
@@shredder9536 I never said he hadn’t performed with them, I’m sure I read they supported Oasis on tour about 20 years ago when they first started releasing albums- what I meant was he all of a sudden starts raving about bands as though he has loved them forever (Prince is a prime example)- the only ones he has been consistent with throughout his career are The Beatles, The Smiths and The Jam, he’s just so inconsistent…but an amazing songwriter, obviously
Can’t believe there was no Beatles or stone roses tune
Ain't nobody make me laugh like Noely G. Best bass player Coldplay ever had.
On the one hand, disappointed that he excluded the Beatles. On the other hand, I can hear him saying, "if I included the Beatles it'd just be all Beatles songs."
Remember this wasn't about his favorite songs, it was about his favorite music videos. And music videos weren't too big of a thing back in the 60s.
I love the Beatles but I doubt I would have included one of their videos in my top 10.🤷♀️
wish he'd done a Nirvana one I love hearing him talk abt them
Is it just the lighting...or has Noel got really deep lines either side of his mouth?
@@fifthof1795 he has lines yeah
Yep, ABBA were huge in Oz and the chicks were proper fit.
best succinct description of Abba.. 'the two birds in it, proper fit.. the two lads in it, pretty cool as well'
I love Noel's wit lmao
