Awwww, and free apples too! What could be better! What a lovely area complete with tropical trees and lovely views. It looked like it should've been warm, but can't believe the weather in this video - blue skies and ice! Looks lovely if not nippy! Another one for the growing list...
I loved the blue skies, the birdsong and the reflections at Cockwood harbour. Here comes a limerick 😁........ A beautiful day for Louise. By the Exe she filmed to us please. My goodness said she. That's a new one for me. A field of cows and palm trees.🐄🐄🐂🐂🌴🌴😊
Hi Louise. I recently found your channel and really enjoy your videos. I live in Newton Abbot, a couple of stops further on from Dawlish Warren. As a birdwatcher, I spend a lot of time around this area. The road through Starcross can be extremely busy, especially in the summer. By the station, the road briefly narrows and this can cause large queues. The golf course as you enter Starcross attracts large numbers of geese and wading birds during the winter. Always nice to see. I would definately recommend the next part of the trail. This takes in a quiet road along the front of Powderham castle and deer park. Then a stunning walk along the estuary with uninterrupted views of the river from Exmouth to Exeter. You can then follow the Exeter canal into the city via the RSPB reserve at Exminster Marshes. You will see many fields full of geese! One of my favourite walks with convenient rail stops at each end. Look forward to your future videos
Oh that sounds fantastic Richard! That makes me really want to do further walks along the trail. I was really drawn to it because of the convenience of the railway stations. So pleased that you have found the the channel and enjoy it!
What a lovely day you had to film in Dawlish Warren and Starcross Louise - chilly and sunny - I love days like that. Good to see Dawlish Warren quiet. Oh no - the dreaded leaf blower!! 😂 Thinking of Bath! Cows and palm trees - that is quite a rare combination 🐄🌴 Cockwood harbour is a really delightful spot. Surprised to see the apples there in January but a welcome sight too. I really enjoyed this - such a relaxing video with your wonderful narration. Great work again Louise 👍
What a wonderful winters day & a super walk. At some stages it sounded like you had tapped into the BBC sound effects library with the train, cars, buses, leaf blower etc! It was lovely to see the beautiful blue sky & the yummy bowl of chips at the end.
Enjoyed watching, a bit tricky trying to get some peace & quiet! The palm trees look quite tropical 🌴. I worked in Exmouth for a short while many years ago but never had time to explore the area so nice to see a little bit of the estuary & what glorious sunshine. 😊
Hi Louise, You know, I think the only sound that was missing was sound of a crunchy apple!! They looked great as well. I'm amazed that the atmospheric line worked at all, I've seen some of the track in photos be great to see the pumphouse too. It does look a lovely place to walk, it really must have been cold too (no ice cream?) and really well connected, there must have at least 6 stations on the map!! Thanks for taking us along!! Enjoy the rest of Sunday and the week ahead!!
Thank you David! Haha! That’s so true about the apple crunch sound! Yes, the atmospheric line was an odd design. The trail is so well connected as you say. I am definitely looking forward to spending more time on it in the coming months. Have a brilliant week too!
You really wouldn't think it was January with such a beautiful blue sky. Funny seeing cows with palm trees! Cockwood Harbour is so pretty. I have never been to this area. Such interesting info about the railway. I love the sound of bird song. I like that you happened upon some apples. Isn't that nice! Geese in a field, me neither lol. Poor you reading directions, its not easy! Love your hat btw. Thank you Louise, fab little video! 😊
They signposts do take you an odd way around the backstreets of Starcross dont they. I think its to try and get bikes and pedestrians off that busy road. I think perhaps you get the best views from the train. 😂. Nice video Louise.
A very nice walk Louise. It can be a challenge finding natural sounds when filming. That don’t include helicopters cars trains or leaf blowers 😂. Enjoyed following along. And wouldn’t mind bringing our e-bikes down for a spin along the trail. Thanks for showing us. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
This trail looks like an amazing place to walk and birdwatch. You had such a lovely sunny day. Lol, I'm not sure I've ever seen cattle and palm trees together either! Starcross has an awesome name and looks like a lovely place. The harbour looks so picturesque.
Thank you Donna! I have another video to come sone time about the village, so will definitely research the name. I am intrigued too. It’s a lovely name!
I used to holiday in Dawlish Warren when my children were quite young. There were so many caravan sites in the immediate area. I don't remember the waymarked walks in those days. Looks to be well sign posted. It's hard to imagine frost in Devon. That must be quite unusual, especially near the coast. I'll have to find your film of Starcross, although I am aware of the problems with the atmospheric railway. Great video as always Louise.
Oh nice memories!! I think I will remake the Starcross video that I mentioned. I still have not edited it as the weather turned out a bit yucky after lunch and the footage was not great. I will refilm in the sunshine sometime!
I guess this is the one problem with only having one road in and out of Dawlish Warren, it gets quite busy 🤣 When I was a lot younger we used to walk the Dawlish Warrren to Dawlish path a lot but we've never taken the path in the other direction towards Starcross. Though I've only ever seen the water out at Starcross. This does look like a lovely walk and a lovely video too - you had lovely sunshine!
It's nice to see a different view of that route as usually im driving through that area. If you think the traffic noise was bad try doing it in August. Starcross is a nightmare. Thanks for the video.
I used to bed and breakfast breakfast at the Courtenay Arms in the 50s and 60s, happy days, we came from west Yorkshire, it was to me a holiday abroad, forgot to mention ,the Courtenay Arms was next to the station and pier, which I used to fish of every night and caught nothing, I could see the large mullet on the surface, frustrating, mean while, mum and dad were in the pub oblivious, I was ten years old , dure in the day Dawlish Warren, it was a dirt carpark between the railway and the beach and a climb down the boulders to rock pools and beach. I could go on, but it was a beautiful place in them days and guess what it was always sunny. On an evening, mum and dad having a drink with the locals and me in a separate little room on the pinball machine, at Courtenay Arms.

Here we go again, those gentle tones mean it's relaxing Sunday and no one does it better than you😊
Ah! Thank you! That’s so lovely to know! I hope you enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

Ah! I love that Limerick Cathy!! Thank you!! 🤗
Awesome limerick! I vote Cathy's comment should get pinned!

Thank you Paul! I think the highlights of it for me were Cockwood Harbour and finding the apples! 🤗

Haha! I agree - it did sound l in e I had sound effects on it 🤣
That sky was just amazing .. and so were the chips!

Ah yes!! That would make sense! The train views are so good!
Love South Devon never been that part but we always stayed in exmouth amazing 👍👍👍

🤣 So true about the sounds! That’s a fab idea to do the trail on your e-bikes!

Thank you Simon! I can imagine about the traffic noise in August. Thanks so much for watching.

Sorry not to reply earlier. I have only just spotted this comment. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful memories. 🤗. Louise
Did you use your GoPro to film this?
No, just my phone as normal, but I have learned (finally 🤣) where to look at the lens!! I have to look left instead of looking at the screen 🤗
It's much better now you're doing that. 😀
