      When I was a kid in the 1960s, everyone talked about taking deer with a .30-06. Their dads took them out of school for the first WEEK of hunting. In boot camp I shot all bulls eyes with the M1, but the first ones were in the wrong target. I am left eyed and did not know it. Later I found out the stats on the 1903 Springfield I cleaned in boot camp. I wish I had one, given the stats. I wonder about the velocities and accuracies out of a sporting rifle.

    Ruger Americans are “affordable” not “cheap”. They are affordable because Ruger is the largest US gun manufacturer. Their sheer size and technological knowledge is why they can produce at these price points. Yes, I own my share of Ruger’s and have for 35 years. Matter of fact my first gun was a Mini-14 that I still own. I have an American Ranch in 5.56 and it is a fine little rifle.

      You have defined the reason that Ruger has risen to be America’s largest gun maker. Ruger has always taken an innovative approach in firearm manufacturing, resulting in quality products that are reliable and accurate. They produce quality firearms that cover all price points so that most anyone can afford a Ruger. Not to mention a solid reputation for good customer service.

    It'a great to see you still have energy and enthusiasm that you bring to the table man. Some people cave into not using or talking about certain firearms or optics because a lot of people consider them "cheap". You've been genuine ever since you started this channel and it shines through. The bottom line is that those Ruger Americans have done everything you've asked of them. There seem to be a lot of excuses that come out of peoples' mouths and the first thing most people do is blame the firearm. When the rifle isn't expensive it becomes even easier to blame the rifle, lol. Well, you've been on target and you have the mounts to prove it. Hey, do the Ruger Americans sometimes have issues? Of course they do but overall you are getting a great rifle for a great price. I'm a huge Ruger fan. I don't have any Ruger Americans but I have several Ruger rifles and I love them all. Ruger is probably the best made firearm for the money and they are made in America. 'Murica. God bless you brother.

    I think most people who complain about how a firearm shoots or it’s accuracy, need to take a look in the mirror. Most people I’ve found have picked up some bad habits since they first learned to shoot. I was lucky enough to have had a great shooting instructor, who had been a Delta sniper for the Army, and then the CIA. I owe everything I know to him, he changed everything I was doing wrong, both with handguns and rifles. Sadly, Agent Orange exposure claimed his life this past August. He was my cousin, and one hell of a man.

      It’s an interesting topic, and I’ve heard interesting arguments from both sides. I don’t use solvent and a brush every time, but after each outing I always run a rod with oil through the barrel while stuff is still “loose” enough that it hasn’t dried out and stuck well, and after every annual hunting season (where it might get rain/moisture in the barrel, it gets taken down, and given a thorough cleaning. I’ve read running a brush and solvent in the barrel every time can actually take a toll on the lands and grooves, and can also remove bits of debris that actually might be “filling” previous imperfections in the lands and grooves and slightly change the accuracy; does anyone else know if this info is valid or not? (I’m no pro, I only know what I’ve seen on TH-cam, read online, and heard from fellow shooters- but it does sound plausible/logical when considering it.)

    • @gierhedd75
      @gierhedd75 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I typically run a boresnake through 2 or 3 times, dribble a little clp down the barrel and hang upside down to let excess run out the muzzle so it doesn't get all in the action, and a quick wipe on the outside. Doesn't need to be a 3 hour affair unless you just dumped 1000 rounds in one outing (in my opinion).
      If im outhunting in cold weather, I do the same thing even if I didn't fire a round, just to get any condensation out from coming into a warm house.

    Yet another big TICK ✅ for the “cheap” rifles. Love my Ruger American 22-250. All. Those little “issues” you mentioned towards the end of your video are all easy little DIY fixes that cost next to nothing. Once everything is clean, solid, straight, and torqued down, its just a matter of a decent optic and some load development. Then, it just comes down to THE NUT BEHIND THE BUTT. He’s the one that makes most of the errors, but won’t wear any of the blame. Anyway, great video proving again you do not have to spend a fortune to get good results. Keep pluggin’ away man. I own three Rugers. Pistols and rifles and have had nothing but good experiences. They are all super reliable. I have only had to send one of my Ruger carry guns in for service, which I’ve shot a lot because it was my carry gun. It is an LC9S. It had a bad mag release spring. Not only did they replace it for free, but they went through the gun and replaced a trigger spring as well even though the gun fired normally and the mag dropped out of battery after I fired it. They are also super nice and friendly over the phone when you do talk to them. Their customer service is 2nd to none.
    I’ve always liked my old Savage 110, but you have me thinking about a shorter Ruger American in .270, .280, 7mm-08 or one of the other mid powered deer calibers you can still easily find. They seem crazy accurate. I want a shorter, maneuverable, easy to carry hunting gun. That might be the ticket. Rugers most certainly aren’t junk. They are high value for what you pay.

    I'd love to have the Predator model in 6.5 Grendel. I do wish they came with iron sights though. A front sight at least because a rear sight could easily be purchased and mounted on the rail. If Ruger would put irons on them, they would be hands down the best non AR/AK line of rifles for the money.

      I got one only because I could not get the Predator model up here in Canada thanks to Covid . Matched it up with a BSA Sweet 17 scope. Absolutely a coyotes worst nightmare. This damn gun is a better shooter than I ever will be. If I miss....it is because of the dumb fool behind the rifle, not the gun. Now....we just have to get this Covid thing beat so that the ranges can open again. Right now everything is closed up tighter than a bulls ass in fly season. Love this gun.

    I purchased a Ruger American Ranch in 300 Blackout. My 14 year old Grandson out shoots me and got a nice group at 100yds. Have only used it one time. We both shot it on a 50yd range. The place we went to has a requirement that you Qualify the 'Rifle' at 50yds before going to the 100yd range. You get a fresh target and shoot 3 rds. Since my Grandson was out shooting me I had him qualify the rifle at 50yds. We go to the 100yd range and saw what he was doing so I did not want mess up the target. I need to go there again and leave him at home!

I looked to see if there are any Pmags made for that rifle, I didn't see any. Sure be nice for mine to accept AK mags, I've got heaps of 10 rd. mags. I put a birdcage brake on it, I'm thinking of taking it off, man it's loud. Recoil is not much on that cartridge anyway. Thanks in advance!!

    I agree with you why do you need to clean a firearm so often I know people that are fanatical over they have got to clean their firearms after every time they shoot it, and I agree with you why clean a firearm so much if you don't have to.
