I use the same rifle in Italy. I have won several competitions with this rifle by firing at moving paper targets, popular in Italy, called the current boar. You shoot standing up in rapid succession, the short barrel, the balance of the weights allows me to strike with the necessary advance by loading quickly with the short action.
We have surplus ammunition made in East Germany. very accurate.

I have always, since the 1980's been enamored with the 7.62 X 39 Buuuleett. I use to carry it for hogs in South Carolina when I was stationed there with the Marine Corps and I killed about 10 hogs at very close range through my Ruger Mini-30, back in the day. But, I went off of the Ruger mini-30, due to accuracy issues at longer ranges.
Later, in the early to mid 2000's I bought a Century Arms C39V2 Ak-47, because they were much more affordable in price compared to other brands on the market.
I made a few up-grades which included a better bolt, bolt housing group and spring and all was nirvana from there on. This weapon was shooting better with open sights, than a lot of my scoped hunting rifles at 100 yards.
Low and behold, I was so proud of your video on 7.62X39 accuracy. You are a man after my own heart Who Tee, and don't you forget that? Okay? You now made me Mis-Pronounce Bullet, you tryer. Thanks for your video's brother. Love Doug and no I am not gay, just a bit tipsy. It is Friday! I look forward to your next video's.

I remember getting mine at the height of the pandemic from academy for less than 500. At that time 762x39 was the only caliber you could easily find. Glad I bought a lot of it while I could, may even start reloading it for this rifle see what the thing does at 500-1000 yards haha.

I absolutely love this rifle.. 2-7×33 Leupold Vx-freedom scope, timney trigger, cheap ammo (well, used to be) it outshoots me ! I did have some feed problems at first, but I polished out the feed ramp and the inner mag lips and all my problems went away. Now I just need a supressor for it and a deer to take with it !

The more i see of the Ruger American, the more impressed i am. 7.62X39 is an often overlooked cartridge in UK. In a Country where gun ownership is very difficult, there are often better choices for either Deer or Varmints.

Not at the price, most don’t understand the purpose & marketing for this sleeper-rifle of course you can find better but not at the price and ammo cost & availability! It’s lights-out within 100-300yds and is offered in many calibers. People can’t swallow the fact that this rifle is just as good as their rifles that cost them 3-4 times what this rifle cost, hard pill to swallow for some. Shit at this price you can buy one in three different calibers and still be less than a lot of so-called better rifles. I have the .223/5.56 NATO and the 7.62x39 NATO both dressed with a ultra-light 1-4x and 1-6x LPVO to keep it compact & light, which is the purpose for this rifle IMO. ***DIY Upgrade*** get some lapping compound and coat the bolt and cycle it for 100-200 cycles and your action will be buttery-smooth! I’m getting 1-1.5in. MOA at a 100yds all day with cheap ammo and sub MOA with better ammo, I’m guessing the cold hammer-forged barrel is the reason and I’m no sniper either, this very capable platform with handloads will definitely shoot lights-out every time! I’m thinking about getting a third chambered in 300 blackout next.

If you get the Ruger American, just make sure you grind off sharp edges on receiver, otherwise you will shave metal off your bolt which is seemily made of prehard steel not heat treated steel.

A good buddy of mine runs a Ruger American Ranch 7.62×39 with a Nikon P5 as his deer rifle with Wolf soft points. He added an A2 flash hider to make those first light shots bearable. Three deer down with it so far.
My wife runs a Ruger American Compact 7mm-08 with a Vortex Crossfire II as her deer rifle. Two deer down with it so far.
Excellent hunting rifles, especially at the price they come to market.

I love the cartridge, as I also have an SKS, and an AK. I haven’t had a chance to shoot my new CZ, but I did cycle some cartridges through the action, and couldn’t help giving out a little WHOOHOO, just from how sweet it felt. I can’t wait to put some rounds down range!!

I loaded some and grouped some awesome groups out to hundred yards. I have always wanted to take it hunting , just haven’t yet. I feel it’s has more then a 30/30 and less then the 35 REM . I am a big fan of the 35 REM and love what it does on small game like FL deer and Hogs . I have a hog hunt coming up on a public land hunt this year and plan on taking my 7.62x39 . In my neck of the woods you can still get red army bulk ammo relatively cheap and a long shot here is within a couple hundred yards so combine inexpensive gun, the ammo and a decent range for deer and it wouldn't break the bank if someone needed a deer or target gun.

A friend has the Cz and it's beautiful, he keeps promising to bring it out on a shooting meet, but all of that's been on hold as we've all been busy as heck. Glad to hear the ruger is at least reliable, I have several friends with different ruger rifles and they've all had annoying issues resulting in sending them back, in one case twice. Got one. Love mine, too! I bought it used a while back with a linear compensator already installed (not that it really needs it). It had barely been shot and still looked brand new but had a rimfire-grade 4X scope on it. I think I paid just under four hundred for it back then. I brought it home and slapped a Vortex Diamond back HP 3-8X32 scope on it and it's brought me nothing but smiles ever since. I bought a field pack of Red Army hollow-point ammo that it likes and plan to use it for varmints like coyotes and ground hogs. I'll bet it would be a fun hog gun, too, but they haven't reached Northern Indiana yet where we live. (I'm too broke and lazy to travel someplace else to hunt!) It would also be a good truck gun.
Anyway, enjoy your "keeper!" I know I will mine.

I tried to throw to a higher magnification real quick and I literally had to move the rifle away from my cheek for a moment to do it. Just picked up my Ruger American 7.62×39 for $499 before tax at an Academy here in San Antonio TX. Been looking for awhile. Finally found one in stock and jumped on it. Can't wait to take a couple pigs and my deer this next year with it. Haven't even fired it yet and I already love this rifle.

You were right. The Ruger American is hard to find. I checked with my local gun store. They only have one in .243 and about 10 in 6.5 Creedmoor. It seems they have not jacked up the prices. Still selling for around $475.

Just bought mine about a month ago local gun shop for $426.00 with taxes. Planing on using a 1×6 scope on it. I had a Ruger Mini 30 got excellent shot placement with Wolf Brand 150gr soft point . Dropped a deer at 120yds. head shot because that was all that stuck out from behind the live oak.

I finally found one and put a Nikon Buckmaster 3x9 with BDC reticle on it. I had already bought a case of 124 grain Wolf Military Classic HP for $249 while I was in the process of looking for one. I'd say I'm set to put a whole bunch of hogs in the freezer as long as they aren't more than 200 yards away. I also bought two mini 30 mags because reloading is a lot less fun than flinging boolots. :)

Absolutely love this rifle. I’ve been offered a grand for mine numerous times since all the shortages started. I bought a bunch of the acamdemy branded Barnaul ammo (monarch), and the Hornady sst. I remember academy had a ton of both. The sst went on sale one time for 20 bucks(50 rounds) before all the crap hit too. I bought a ton of it. Because of the awesome accuracy I got out of both. I consistently get quarter size groups or better at a 100 with both. I’ve tried experimenting with my own hand loads to hunt with. However I can’t get any better accuracy than the monarch stuff or the Hornady sst. So… I don’t really bother with the hand loads anymore. Runs great through my deadair sandman too.

It is a good replacement for flat open shooting, but for brush and woods line shots, I'd go with the 7.62x39. Too many people also underestimate the .243 caliber. It's a fun cartridge to shoot especially if you have a bad shoulder but there again, so is the 7.62x39
