I have been haunted by the same ad for a week straight. It is the Honda x Team Liquid collab. It is, and I kid you not, the ONLY ad I have gotten for about a week straight. When I have a double ad, both ads are the exact same one. I reported the ad, blocked it, still the only one. Absolutely mind boggling
I mean... Quite a few use it though. Specially competitive players like for Valorant and whatnot. NotroDan reviews these too for games like, well, Minecraft. Either way, there's also custom Windows Vista isos too where it's more or less redesigned which is loved by a community on youtube. There also was a group for enhancing windows 11 to be more consistent with its looks when win11 was still broken with win10 Elements everywhere.
HOW CRAZY would it be... IF Microshaft just released a version of Windows... That was just Windows. No spyware, no adware, no malware, no keyloggers... Just Windows... They could call it "Windows Seve-----" Oh wait they killed that already.
Windows 7 also had telemetry and was considered as bloated, especially by the end of it's support. In fact, telemetry started appearing back in Windows XP, and as far as the bloat argument does, Service Pack 2 increased the minimum requirements so much that for a lot of people it meant turning a usable OS into an unusable one. But I'm sure you look at XP with the same rose tinted glasses that you look at 7.
@@supra107 I know there was telemetry and bloat in XP and 7, but the OS functioned and the bloody and creepy stuff were minimal, not to mention it was meant to be used for complete unlike 10 and 11 with that disgusting start menu
Regardless of whether you install some shady gaming version of windows from a youtube channel or from the official microsoft website, you're still downloading malware
Me who has Windows LTSC: 👁️👄👁️ If you don’t know: Windows LTSC is an official, bloatware-free version of Windows which would normally be locked to enterprises only for a fee. However, if you know where to go, you know where to go.
Microsoft is 100% responsible for this bullshit. instead of building the best budget os with options to do what you want, they decided to go the route of software as a service. Fuck that noise.
As a high end gamer this is not a problem for me, a great option is to turn off startup programs through task manager however, some shouldn't be disabled with some research it is rather easy to disable some programs with a high startup impact like Steam, this doesn't mean you should never use steam, or that steam is malicious BUT when it is running in the background all of the time it will download updates which will slow your PC down significantly, and you don't want that especially on games that don't even require steam to be open.
@@leagueaddict8357 Well I mean Windows is farming your data and is doing more of it. I am a high end gamer also. I just hate a company getting my data to sell when I paid for the damn product.

Setting the region to "English (World)" in the installation of Windows 11 prevents a lot of bloat from being installed. That is as lite of an edition you can get right now. You can change the region afterwards to your preferred region.
you take your chances with literally anything you download online. that includes linux distros. unless you know how to verify them yourself or are compiling your own youre always trusting that what youre getting isnt compromised.
Well, you are right, it applies to anything you get from the internet. The difference is that Linux isn't proprietary software and you can actually verify what is happening and going to be installed. Of course with the major Linux distros, probably there are some shady distros, but you really need to find them
@@_garicas From what I remember some of these Playbook compatible custom windows modifiers are actually fully open source and a public eye is looking at them the same way people look at linux and I doubt a normal person could just casually start reading source code of the os and understand it. Not everyone is a programmer or IT person.
@@DiamondZombie then it's better, I myself used an open source debloater at some point on my Windows drive. Also you're right, tbf not even a programmer or IT person would look at the source code, it's mostly a case of trust in the maintainers and the community.
I used to be a huge Windows fanboi. In fact, I used to mock Linux and Linux users saying "The only reason why they love it so much is because when they finally get it running they have no choice but to love it due to the sunken cost." I had to eat my words and swallow my pride when someone finally convinced me to give it a try after I saw how shitty Windows 8 was. I don't have a single Windows computer anymore anywhere in my house, everything's running Linux, and I've built my business on developing Linux server software. Good to see that other people might get the same experience I had, but with Windows 11.
Once windows 10 is done I'm going to be moving over the Linux due to the subscription model that Microsoft is going with. Windows died with 8 and while you can make 10 80% like 7 it's not the same. There's only like 2 games that might not work on Linux that I truly care about (and a bunch of older games) but I rather have something that won't ask for money and show me ad's every 30 seconds like what 11 is more then likely going to become. The only part is getting the ability to make it happen due to my deep technological knowledge lol.
@@Walamonga1313 yeah that's one important thing i need to know, I really want to switch to linux, the extreme amount of customization and stuff it has is great, plus the 10000x less ram it uses compared to w11 but I don't see too many games with linux ports and there's no way i'm switching over to linux if I can't play some games. Presumably a vm is how it's done, but i'm wondering if there's another way, since I think i'd find it kind of annoying to have to start up a windows vm whenever i want to play something
@@jonaut5705 Aside from games that use pretty invasive anti cheats, most should work fine out of the box on Steam using Proton. Proton is Steam's personalized version of Wine, which is a compatibility layer that translates Windows API calls into Linux API calls. Most games I tried actually run quite well under Proton, even though they are games made for Windows. You can also just use Wine directly if you want (or need to run something without using Steam), it is just more annoying to setup properly and will might require some fine tuning depending on what you are running while Proton pretty much just needs you to enable it and it will mostly just work out of the box. Again, aside from games that use invasive anti cheats (which refuse to adapt to and/or accept Linux), running games on Linux is really not as hard or annoying as most people assume it is. Bro Mutahar got so much wrong here its INSANE 6:01 Mutahar I love your channel and watch your videos frequently but this is not the "worst tech advise on TH-cam" TechYesCity did a whole video about ghost spectre and did a deep system analysis and found nothing harmful, he even goes to say at the end of the video its comparative of his own win 10 custom ISO he uses on his own and client machines. I have personally used it for a whole year for just gaming on my older PC and worked great w/ no issues. 15:19 there already is a light version of Windows 10 and 11 they are called LTSC edition... Its is literally on their website and there is even a FREE trial to use it. But I do agree they need to amp up their game and have a dedicated desktop gaming OS like SteamOS. 19:54 Yes this is really bad to download a custom ISO of windows, but you fail to mention that Ghost Spectre and other custom OS have tools to let you verify the hash files, Atlas and Revi OS both instruct you to download the ISO directly from Microsoft. 21:15 Yes most people who use these custom OS are on low end systems, nobody is saying to use these to login to your bank account, its just for gaming and Atlas's code is open source, you can read what each line of code does for your PC. It is very similar to the code/tools you show at the end of the video 26:50 Not only FPS but system stability stopping those annoying windows updates, oh and bypass the windows 11 minimum system requirements for older hardware. You talk a lot about Atlas in this video but did not mention at all Revision OS which has the same goal as Atlas but without breaking anything , the end result is super smooth OS that can be used as a daily driver for both gaming and productivity. and lastly, 19:06 bruh wtf happened here lol (edit this out with YT studio bro) All in all is this really worse the new windows spying tools they add in with every update? I rather put my trust in open source code to disable telemetry, copilot, bloatware, etc. TLDR: if you don't want to move to Linux just use Windows LTSC edition cuz it has no bloatware and better performance
I've used ReviOS for a long time, shit just runs right and is super stable. While I do trust the way the Ameliorated system works to patch Windows I also don't really do anything besides play video games on this specific computer.
Glad someone mentioned LTSC, it's really the only usable first-party option these days and I wish more people knew about it. Haven't found a good way to get legit individual licenses for it, though. Do you know of any?
Mutahar has been mixing kiddie horror with IT for a good while now. It's slop and straight up misinformation. I've been using Ghost Spectre (both W10 and W11) for years, downloaded from the right source - no issues whatsoever.
Yes but 25 years ago, you could go to any office store and buy Windows on CD. And install it WITHOUT an internet connection. Those were the good old days..... (Yes, I know you can bypass it now, but most people don't want to mess with command line, etc.)
This has been my experience on my channel which focuses heavily on optimizations and simplicity. These custom ISO’s have so many things broken and shattered.
Ghost spectre is frequently audited, I have been using it for 2 years as a second install for minor things that don't work on my Linux side (Adobe) (Maya). I looked and there is no suspicious traffic there are no weird changes to the registry side of things. It's quite clean but it's like muta said, always trust what you're downloading don't take my word for it. I will however not be using ISOs down the like I was a little dumber a couple years ago to have done that. Next time I'll probably use a script like Atlas or something well known open source and audited on a a genuine windows iso just to avoid anything that could very well be hiding deep in there.
THANK YOU. It felt like Muta completely missed the bar with nuance. Like not all custom OS builds are equal. It really boils down to due your due diligence. I chose spectre for the same reason, not for my main build but its still amazing. While I get clickbait gets views this just feels like fearmongering and like he wants to trap people in the marketing bs that is WINDOWS OS or switch to Linux which not everyone has time for.
@@Superlegofighter101 i don't know much about this release, but i know what they're usually for, and how they usually work. this guy's advice is 1- click bait, he wants views, 2 - advice from a normie to other normies, for lack of better term. in which case, it's valid. but it does feel a lot like the cassette tape that came with my first computer back in 1994 advising not to trust "that tech-savy friend to put programs on your pc". if you don't know what you're doing, you're better off not installing these. but if you can audit them, and have the knowledge to know what to look for in terms of safety and whatnot, then yeah go for it.
I'm using ghost spectre Windows on my secondary PC in my living room to play video games. While I would not recommend everyone to use it, I've never had any issues.
I agree with you. I've come across security audits of Ghost Spectre and another TH-cam Security channel did a review and I believe he did his due diligence. This guy's advice is generally true and I'd tell most people the same but not make a statement that is guaranteed to be bad and call people idiots. I definitely won't subscribe to this guy
I remember installing windows to a new computer and being horrified how many useless things they were asking me to install or things they wanted me to activated (and a lot was about sharing my information). And even after refusing all that, I had to sit down to uninstall and deactivated useless stuff. Took me like 30 minutes... (first time on windows 11 so I was not used to a lot of the things). The menus are also really badly design.
And if you have Windows preinstalled on your device it has all that stuff *enabled* by default When I first got my laptop I tried to keep the OEM Windows installation on it and it would just randomly crash when I was using it
Yeah one of the creepiest things for me was when i noticed that windows 10 after installing started asking for my handwriting data. Eventhough i don't actually use a touchscreen or drawing tablet or whatever, that freaked me out. Then i saw the LTT video about linux 3 years ago and i made the switch, now i'm pretty deep into the linux rabbithole lol.
I get ya, I've been a linux user for years and was messing around the other week with a windows vm and it took me 5 times longer to install and untick all the 'please let me spy on you' check boxes just to boot in to a DE. What happened... it's a trash fire now!
I'm not really aching for gaming performance, but when my OS wastes my time because of some bloat that will never improve my life it really pisses me off. That plus removing all the creepy big brother shit really makes me consider stuff like AtlasOS.
This was my reason to install AtlasOS too, and I'm really happy with it. I had enough of the random "upgrade to 11" fullscreen ads and stuff, and now I get none of those
@@david_horvath How does it handle system updates? Wouldn't there be a risk of something breaking due to an update conflicting with whatever Atlas does?

What about tools like WinAero Tweaker? I literally only use it to permanently disable the Windows spyware, and add a little more customization to the OS, like making it so I can shut down my system just from right clicking on the desktop. Also, just so you know, I don't care how many times you say it, Muta. Switching to Linux is literally NOT as easy as you pose it to be. Like, yes, installing and learning to use it is not the problem. The problem comes in when I want to play a multiplayer game. What happens there? I'm SOL. What happens if a game I want to play in future after I've already switched doesn't support Linux? I'm SOL. We use Windows because there IS NO ALTERNATIVE. Linux is NOT an alternative until everything works on it, and I do mean EVERYTHING.

I have used this in conjunction with a powershell script to debloat windows. Most Winearo Tweaker tweaks are just registry edits. In WT you can even click a link to see what gets modified and how to even manually do it.
It really is the best, because Chris Titus actually works in IT and knows when to not remove something just because it's deemed as "bloat". You don't need much more on a fresh install.
The official debloated system from MS is Windows 10 Enterprise IOT and it comes with an extra bonus of being supported until 2032. The downside is that it's not obtainable legally, however, it can be verified by checksums if you get it through alternative means.
If you can manage to commit, I'm really glad for you. On my main system I'm dual booting Windows 10 with Linux Mint, though I'll probably still "main" Windows 10 until they drop support for it next year. In the mean time, I've ressurected my old laptop with LM and will be learning how to navigate it through there. Though Recall by itself shouldn't be a concern for you, at least this generation. You need some bleeding edge hardware that pretty much nothing running Windows 11 right now can achieve, at least that's how I understand it.

@@ShelbyGT5OO what?? I have been using it for about 2 years and havent run into anything like that. LTSC is still just windows 10 but without the bloatware and telemetry. It was originally for an office workspace.
not really, i disable those intentionally because they have noticable impact on performance. especially for development work, you can get double the compilation speed just by disabling windows security.
"a little extra frames" seems to be a bit unfair toward the people who create and work on atlas or revisionOS. Both are open source on github and anyone can look at the changes they make. Optimizing does make a huge difference, especially in the low fps. And thats not even speaking about disabling anything spyware / telemetry related yet. I make my own ISOs using NTLite, i dont know why optimizing or just editing windows isos is so frowned upon but installing X version of linux (distribution) is okay. You can make whatever you want out of windows with enough research, if you dont want to rely on 3rd party providers then just do it / learn it yourself. There is ALOT of performance to be gained over just a stock windows and the experience will be generally better because you can just remove the things that annoy you. Ads in the search bar? The fact that I have to tell my operating system to not disturb me is insane to me. I don't want or need any notifications at all on my desktop. If I want to check my mail I will check my mail, and there is absolutely no news about anything I need from Microsoft. Every time there's a Windows update I worry what they've changed. What new **** are they gonna put in front of me that I don't want? Is this a new privacy concern? Is this an ad? I hate it a lot.
Big agree. I run Ghost Spectre Windows 11 22H2 and I haven't had any problems with any of my accounts and/or data compromised. I watch it like a hawk and virtualize it, making sure it doesn't talk to sites and services I don't approve of. I feel safer running this than allowing Windows 11 via Microsoft to update itself and change things on me, slipping in new software and malware.
If you know where to go, LTSC is the best version of Windows that you can install if you, for some reason, still have an over reliance of Adobe (through morally correct ways) or games that has an anti-cheat because the developer refuses Linux for a multitude of reasons.
The "some reason" being that GIMP, KDenLive and the entire FOSS media creation ecosystem is an unfunny joke to anyone who actually does serious media creation work on their computers, no matter how much Linux cultists repeat the "it's just good if not better" mantra.

To be very honest, I would have loved for you to mention that AtlasOS is fully open source and that most things are customizable in the Atlas folder. Plus, only feature updates are disable under Atlas. Security updates are absolutely downloadable
I would have also liked him to mention this. With Atlas you ain’t installing a dodgy iso just a playbook which is open source so anyone can have a look and see what’s happening before downloading. And like you said security updates are still downloaded!
I want to switch, but there are no drivers for Linux when it comes to my gaming mice, keyboard, headset and other devices I have. The issue is the hardware manufactures don't support it yet and the Linux market is very low, maybe when the Windows 10 support ends it might very likely change. Due to one major factor in economics because of the crisis, a lot of people around the world don't want to buy new computers or hardware. I hope Linux community just focus more on 1 distro to make it better for all new users, like Fedora or Ubuntu to make it more user-friendly.
You could shoot a quick email to the support mail for whatever mouse/keyboard/device you have and ask about Linux support. They'll obviously say they don't support it, so don't get your hopes up, but if it's something enough customers request, eventually they'll support for it.
What kind of peripherals do you have?! What brands? Everything works fine for me on Linux, Logitech G604 mouse, custom Leobog + Epoch keyboard I built myself, and Scarlette Focusrite Amp. I'm sorry to hear Linux doesn't support your hardware though. Maybe try as many distros as you can in Live ISOs.
I switched to Linux because of that video you uploaded showing me how to install Linux! :] I would recommend Linux Mint all the way to the moon, that OS has only one, singular flaw, imho... The wayland implementation is still very unfinished, so you're stuck with x11 for most things. I'm currently on Nobara, because, wayland. xD
I would love to switch to Linux, problem is the games I play, it doesn’t support it. I’ve been waiting for months to hear that these guys are supporting Linux but to no avail. It’s saddening.
Just switch already, lol, no use postponing it. I have two recommendations. Linux Mint, if you're a newbie and you need something easy to operate and easy to troubleshoot as it's the best distro for people converting to Linux, lmao. xD CachyOS if you consider yourself to be quite tech-savvy, and just want an OS optimized for gaming right off the get-go, it's Arch, but with gaming optimizations outta the box, so there's less work for you to do before you can get the ball rolling for games.
It genuinely pisses me off that my top 3 games all despise the concept of working on Linux, and there are workarounds, but its bannable if they find out you are doing it, and you need to constantly find other ways after they patch methods, I would of been on Linux 3 years ago most likely if it wasn't for this

it's actually pretty simple to install a light version of windows using the original ISO from Microsoft, via the automated install features, you can just exclude everything to be installed but the bare bones. and poof, there you go. so "technically" Microsoft does offer this indirectly be allowing installs to be manipulated before they are installed in the first place.
Its simple if you know what you're doing. Most people who need to watch videos or tutorials likely won't have the knowledge to understand how to create custom Windows install images.
tbh these ios are really bad, but they are affecting other good custom OS projects like RevisionOS, which’s not even an iso but an open source playbook which debloats and makes the windows experience much much better, i’ve used it for the past 1 years with an i9400f and a gtx 1050ti and it’s running really fast
You mentioned Chris Titus, I only used his Windows utility which also does debloating, he has yt videos about it, and HardenTools also, but yea like said if you don't make a custom ISO yourself and if you don't trust those scripts don't run this stuff, also I don't see a problem with "gutting" Windows, brother I would totally make a ultra debloated windows ISO and run that on a Linux vm only for gaming of course or idk if some program doesn't run on Linux, thats the future of Windows rn how things are going, if you need Windows it in the 1st place, virtualized under Linux
Honestly from windows all I want is a search function that isn’t complete ass. Apple gets clowned on all day, but one thing they did right was make an actually useful search
Second this. So sick and tired of seeing "No files match your search" after I accidentally didn't put spaces in between every single word when I saved a file.
Can't remember how, but you can disable internet searching in the win11 search bar by registry editing. Should come up just by googling 'how to disable internet searches in search bar'
@notanetcher Did you even try to figure out what was wrong? or did you just give up? The wifi issue is not a problem with linux, it is up to the manufacturer to make a driver for it go complain to them.
@notanetcher Realtek support is spotty, you can use a USB wifi adapter. I remember having intel wifi issues on windows, so again not an issue with linux just the chip makers drivers. Picking a distro is not to hard, just try some that interest you and pick the one you like most. Pretty easy, you don't need to try every distro ever just a few that interest you. It is just wrong to say that linux sucks, it runs 90% of the internet it obviously does something right.

Back in Russia i saw a lot of people using "custom builds" of Windows, which were actually just regular windows with some software preinstalled, including windows activator, and with a ton features that the author deemed "useless" removed, and also i remember how often my friends had problems with those because always something broke because some component of windows needed by a certain program is just not there anymore, and you can't even restore it properly. Especially often i saw builds by "OVGorskiy" who everybody called "OVGovnovskiy", because "Govno" means "Shit" in russian and his builds were exactly that. But i would say that the only Windows worth using are LTSC builds by Microsoft themselves, recently Windows 11 LTSC came out officialy, and it's not bad. Microsoft is 100% responsible for this bullshit. instead of building the best budget os with options to do what you want, they decided to go the route of software as a service. Fuck that noise.
As a high end gamer this is not a problem for me, a great option is to turn off startup programs through task manager however, some shouldn't be disabled with some research it is rather easy to disable some programs with a high startup impact like Steam, this doesn't mean you should never use steam, or that steam is malicious BUT when it is running in the background all of the time it will download updates which will slow your PC down significantly, and you don't want that especially on games that don't even require steam to be open.

you take your chances with literally anything you download online. that includes linux distros. unless you know how to verify them yourself or are compiling your own youre always trusting that what youre getting isnt compromised.
I had to eat my words and swallow my pride when someone finally convinced me to give it a try after I saw how shitty Windows 8 was.

Linux users are the vegans of the IT space, and this comment is a prime example of the fact.

It is very similar to the code/tools you show at the end of the video

They'll obviously say they don't support it, so don't get your hopes up, but if it's something enough customers request, eventually they'll support for it.
just stick to Windows OS then
What kind of peripherals do you have?! What brands? Everything works fine for me on Linux, Logitech G604 mouse, custom Leobog + Epoch keyboard I built myself, and Scarlette Focusrite Amp. Linux Mint, if you're a newbie and you need something easy to operate and easy to troubleshoot as it's the best distro for people converting to Linux, lmao. xD
CachyOS if you consider yourself to be quite tech-savvy, and just want an OS optimized for gaming right off the get-go, it's Arch, but with gaming optimizations outta the box, so there's less work for you to do before you can get the ball rolling for games.

Most of crap removed, except copilot and defender, both can be disabled. You can't get those builds easily from microsoft though, only evaluation versions, but you can easily find them on internet archive
