Picked up a 2022 Express from a rental company for family vacation. Vehicle was in perfect condition except no air coming through the vents. Employees took a look and could not figure it out. Our only option was to drive 35 minutes to another location to switch it out. I was about to but decided to pull in parking lot and search for a solution. Needless to say after watching this video I resolved that issue in 30 seconds. Thanks so much for the help! God bless!
Must have knocked this loose installing a backup camera today and was mad at myself for doing a bunch of work only to create a new problem. However, I found this video and the AC is blowing cold in both front and rear after reconnecting. Thank you! 🤘
Love it. Having the same exact problem. I’m going to go look at it right now. Hopefully it’s as simple as what you just showed us. If not, thank you for the informative video anyway.
Well, just checked. Unfortunately mine is connected and the AC is still not working correctly. Still just blowing out of the defroster area. And it’s hot now!!!
Thanks for the help. I looked at everything and even pulled the engine cover to see if the vents somehow got disconnected. What you showed was the exact problem.
This turned out to be exactly the problem I was having, on my 2007 Chevy Express van. (GMC Savana.) I fixed it as you described. Thank you so much for your expertise and your video.
@@harryhydee2524 It was just a brown-colored hose, under the dash on the right, in the passenger's feet area, that had gradually gotten disconnected. So I re-connected it firmly, and now it's been working fine since last summer.
Awesome. This was the issue with my vehicle. As a bonus the line was also plugged with dirt. Double bonus the previous owner had disconnected the actuator and had used wire to hold the damper position.
@Pastel Skies your way too funny, definitely could have chosen a less judgmental name. I actually got the name Tweeker Dan by doing well playing football. I took pride in the name and only saw the good. Now the name just makes me laugh 😂
Makes perfect sense cause I shoved a big box in that area right around when it stopped working. Gonna give it a shot in the morning. Either way, thanks for making the video simple. Other people would stretch it into 13 minutes
@@TweekerDan1984 So I was literally trying to do it when you commented back. One of the wires that you zip tied to popped out and I can’t find it. And of course it’s cold here icing up the windows haha. Figures
@@AdrianO1-97 I wonder if when they popped off if they contracted back behind that paneling to the right. I dunno. I wanted to open it up but I was pressed for time with my dispatch. Had to go the loaner van route which is always sketchy
@@blewidescorpio hey man my mechanic just gave me a awesome tip, so idk if you have the sane problem but i had no air coming out of the vents at all so while im waiting for my new blower motor to come in, he said to tap the motor with a screwdriver or something a couple times and it should work. I just tried it and my air is back on! Give it a shot if you have the same issue
My issue is that the vacuum tube from the check valve heading into the firewall is split. I know I need to replace it. But do you where it goes? Does it plug into all these tubes you have in the vid? And if so, how does one run it from there to the check valve?
If the heater resister pack is not melted, and doesn’t have signs of damage then it is likely the thermostat or heater core. Sometimes you can get away with simply flushing the heater core/coolant system.
did you ever get this fixed? My dad is having the same issue on a 2011 express 3500. When he turns on the heater, it blows out cold air. The rear gets warm air but the front 'vents' blow out cold air. I helped him change the thermostat but that did not fix the issue.
Do you know if there is a separate heater core for the rear heater? If the blower motor is functioning properly a common part to fail causing loss of heat is the resistor which is typically located on the blower motor housing. The other known culprit is the heater core. Sometimes you can temporarily fix this by flushing the core itself with water. This fix can actually work for quite some time. Definitely feel free to reach out if you have any other questions. Cheers!
@Xtreme 87 this set up was common on a very large range of make, models and years. So it is very possible the setup could be the same and would have the same issues.
What if only the heater is not blowing hot air, but the A/C does seem to be working properly. This just happened to me today for the first time. 2006 GMC Savanah 1500. I can tell when I turn the A/C on that it gets even colder, but nothing when I turn it to heater at all. It appears the thermostat is working as far as I can tell. I'm thinking either the temperature control is not working or I have a clogged heater core.
Are you referring to the wire under the dash? I’m betting that it has a plastic clip that keeps it out of reach up in the dash. Sometimes the wires can be mounted on the upper back side of the blower motor housing.
Great video! Was that the original routing of the vacuum harness? Ours hung dow for years on our 2009 Chevy express 2500 cargo van. I noticed the harness runs down from the climate control in front of the duct and then goes back up and the duct locks it in place. Ours has a retainer instead of the screw that holds the duct up in place. I popped the rubber retainer in the hole from the top down as you showed us that the correct location? There was a plastic retainer popped down in that hole from the harness the ones that are taped to the vacuum harness but I think it belongs somewhere else. Mice chewed up our heater vacuum harness that runs to the climate control module so we just had that replaced last week and we had no air to the vents. I’m trying to get everything routed correctly under the dash. Our plug with the brown and black vacuum line is new with the harness but our old one was loose. Ours doesn’t have two black and brown hoses that conbect on each side. The brown go’s to black and the other side is plugged from the factory. Does yours have auxiliary heat? We just have one brown hose that runs behind the floor mat and through the firewall. Any advice on routing behind that heater box for the rest of the vacuum harness and that black electrical wire would be appreciated. Thanks, Kevin.
@Wolden12031968 hey Kevin, when routing be sure not to kink any of the hoses or wires. Also when pulling them through, you will want to be careful as be careful not to let them catch on anything. Using a hanger or wire snake can be very helpful. Sneak the snake through the route where you would like to run your replacement tube/wire and then tape them to the end of you snake using electric tape. Hope this is clear enough, best of luck 🤞
Hi Dan, I pushed the rubber retainer on the connector down into the hole on the heater core plastic cover as you showed. My main question was is that the original location where yours was? Our local gm dealer service department could never figure out where it went. I just looped the harness as you did ran it back around the floor duct and popped the retainer in that holds the duct in place. Ours doesn’t have the screw. I left the vacuum hoses loosely looped up above the duct. I didn’t install the vacuum harness to the climate control we had a local shop do that so I didn’t have to snake it through. They did leave the harness hanging down near the floor. Thanks
Could be a loose wire or hose connection. If the blower fan is functioning properly and you have checked the fuse and relay then. Then I would inspect the climate control and the regulator. The regulator should regulate the heating and cooling. Sometimes you can get away with wiggling the wires or tapping on it to see if it will start functioning properly. If neither of these things help locate your issue than it is likely that your compressor has failed.
I have the same problem. When I looked at the connector, it is connected but I realize I only have one wire continuing on the connection. It obviously has been working with one wire since I have had the van. Fiddling with the connector did not make any difference. any suggestions?
@Bhopendra Nagar apologies for the delayed response, Have you checked your fuses and relays? Also have you tried tapping on the blower motor to see if it tries to turn?

@James Ollins are you referring to the harness that has all of the tubes and wires running through it? I actually do not know the exact name but it would be something around the lines of a climate control airflow harness
I would check the the wiring and hoses be wiggling them, if that doesn’t make a difference try tapping on the blower motor near the resistor. If the motor comes on after tapping the housing it is likely the blower motor fan or resistor
