Jaya Tv in Margazhi Maha Utsavam is a popular event during the 'season' in Chennai.
The series of concerts are thematic and the artistes interact with the audience through a brief Q & A session.

I am sorry that I have missed this wonderful kachcheri so far.
Thanks to ranjani gayatri, dushyanth, trichur bro and ravikiran. Because of you i am hoing to listen and enjoy TMK's all songs and spread TMK's great list of songs to my friends cicle via the social medias.
I have heard Sri Shyama Shastri’s Anadabhairavi kriti, Marivere, sung by more than two dozen Carnatic vocalists. In this video, Sri T M Krishna has taken this kriti to an altogether new, ethereal level. Listening to this is a soul-stirring experience. The accompanying artists have also contributed immensely to the over all effect, no doubt, especially the violinist Sri Sriramkumar’s smooth, flawless playing. This high caliber, bhava laden singing that springs from the heart, and not from the throat, is capable of transporting the listeners’ minds to a place like Narada loka.

What a devotion, what a rendering by Vid TMK. I appreciate how smooth also is the mrudangam to add to the bhava. No unnecessary beats, just enough to support the bhava and devotion. Amba Apaara krupanidhi Neeve rakshimpa... Great.

I just cant explain the feeling that I got by listening to his 'marivere' I felt ambal will immeadiately fulfil his all wishes after she takes an ear for his 'puja' done by a 'ragakusumam'(flower of worship called the raga)of 'anandabhairavi' may sri shyamasastrigal shower his full blessings on t m Krishna this is true raga bhava,true sangita, true upasana inexplicable I have tears in my eyes

Enjoyable music with a lot of bhavam! Also a lot of drama!!! Sri Sriram Kumar on the violin is brilliant. Arun Prakash on the Mridangam and Chandrasekar Sarma on the Ghatam have done an adequate job.

This is the 2nd time i am hearing this kutcheri. Marevere in Aanandabairavi is super. Vandematharam slokam InRaagamalika Excelent.Very fine golden voice!

The western lady playing the tambura makes this concert stand out from the others. There are western tambura players out there it looks like! Kudos! I am impressed with the quality and effort brought by TM Krishna in this episode of Margazhi Maha Utsavam 2013. I am especially taken away with Marivere in Ananda Bhairavi, a monumental piece to commence the concert:)
The western lady playing tambura for Sri. T M Krishna is Emmannuelle Martin from France. She is not just a tambura player; she has been learning Carnatic vocal from Sri T M K for over nine and a half years now. She could sing Kalyani varnam very well, to my great astonishment, when I met her for the first time at violinist Sri Sriramkumar's house more than seven years ago! She has now reached a very advanced level, without a doubt.

The Yadhukula Kambodhi piece, Hecharika Raaraa is one of the most beautiful pieces to highlight this concert by TM Krishna. TM Krishna is transcendental, Yadhukula Kambodhi is very soothing:)

I think TMK has made an excellent point. The 'Kutcheri Paddhathi' was not in existence since the beginning of time. It was a response to the needs of the time when music as a performing art took roots. It may not have outlived its purpose. (Definitely I am not qualified to make an assessment.) But perhaps there is something else evolving and TMK may be seeing into the future what some of us are not able to see as yet.
History is replete with stories of change being ignored, ridiculed, resisted and accepted and celebrated. What is tradition today was novel once.

Total involvement by artists and audience...excellent music.
What a treat! Bharo Krishnayya was excellent! Knowledge and application of music by TMK is unparalleled by any of the other young musicians. The videooegrapher is overdoing superimposing of images of the stage artistes which is a distraction.

An accoomplished artist. Should think music is next only to god.nshould not sing for the sake of singing. His gimmics are vulnerable. Great artist should be humble since he only cites baghavan nama sung by vakyekaras. Let his vanity be shelved. The lyrics of "Baro Krishnayya" are considerably off. While I greatly admire TM Krishna and his music, the wordings not only do not make sense, it indicates the need for every singer to learn the correct UcchaaraNe (pronunciation) as a mark of respect to the composer. Although lyrics are available elsewhere, I have listed them below for the benefit of all. This is the composition of Saint Kanakadaasa, who is said to be the reason why Lord Krishna in Udupi temple turned around and gave him "darshana" through the window at the back of the temple (as is seen even today and known as Kanakana kindi).
Baro Krishnayaa ninna bhaktara manegeea (can only be split as Manege eega, not Mane geega)
Baro ninna mukha toro, ninna sari yaro, jagada rakshakane (cannot be raksheelane - since it will not mean anything)
anduge kalugavu (not kalgadavu - which will mean a problem for the foot, while the correct one is a bangle worn on the leg)kaal andige kiru gejje

Great performance..Just one small feedback....need to use the rhythm section well....atleast in this 48 min video....din't give them much scope....probably he did in the whole concert...
I think it's up to the mridangist to show his vidwath in playing for slow renditions. One has to listen to the way Palghat Raghu or Trichy Sankaran or UKS played for MDR.

Hello Parthiban! It is a Marathi song, Raga Yamuna kalyani (Guess MS Amma brought this song to the carnatic repertoire) .. Composer Keshav Kinkar, the Mudra does appear in the end of the song.

TMK sir! So happy, finally listening a song in my mother tongue in your voice! That too with 100% perfection (diction). Singing an easy song with 100% perfection is always better than a difficult one with 80% judgement. Hope to hear more from you!!!

Not clear how not liking this is related to liking Hindusthani...on the
other hand, may be you are onto something....people who have a taste for
the outstanding not-so-self-indulgent music of Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, or
Ustad Bismillah Khan, or Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia may find it hard
to stomach this. Who knows....
even though i try to never engage in the endless/endlessly boring "discussion" about the virtues of the one tradition over the other, the idea that Bismillah Khan's music is somehow less self-indulgent than, for example, the music of this performance, is basically unfounded rubbish.
I agree with you. Usually pointless to critique across traditions. That is why I took issue with someone who said that "How come 51+ ppl did not like it...they must like only hindusthani...". I thought perhaps TMK's music comes across as more self-indulgent than some of the examples I mentioned. And you are right, that is not helpful either! So, I agree with you on critiquing my own comment!!! On a separate note, the best way to avoid endlessly boring discussion is to end discussing. Clearly, you feel there is something of value to discuss (or contradict, put down, whatever). So, it is disingenuous to claim otherwise. We comment because we care. That simple.

I really could not listen to this! I kept forwarding to some piece of Manodharma that shows some brilliance. I really could not find a single minute of that. Singing slow does not necessarily means it has bhava. There was no spot that moved me due to its emotional impact. The viruttam put me to sleep.
I have to say he has done a great job of presenting himself as a great traditionalist. There in lies his greatness - he is a great salesman.
