Wow what a beautiful and positively divine voice.
I observe glimpses of M D R in his raga aalaapana of Sahana
As far as Sahana, Rithigowla, husseni MDR style is unique. He was par excellence and his devotion is incomparable with adara sruthi. TMK is eccentric like Mali ( people were longing even though he was under the influence of alchohol) but that also was unique. TNK is toying with bakthi which is the main concept in Carnatic music. That's purists do not agree with him even though his voice is good.

Misguided and arrogant probably, to not see the music and its historical context and also its contemporary conflicts. Music was far more organic in society historically I. thyagarajas time. Now, not so much as musical grammar and idiom has shifted substantially away from Indic principles. Krishna hastens it’s demise misguidedly, by criticizing using a western sociological lenses without deeper understanding. It is unfortunate that he can’t educate himself better from an Aravindan Neelakandan or Rajiv Malhotra but he is too arrogant for that.
He is using tyagaraja kritis to promote christianity!!!
Masterpieces of TMK. He will for sure go down in history as one of the greatest exponents of carnatic vocal.

Important that the more learned of the music comment on performances as Venkat Raman did. It adds a dimension to the enjoyment without which all listening becomes sycophantic. TMK is not only an accomplished singer of the art, he is also a commentator of the grammar, beauty and sociology of Carnatic music. He himself is free with his opinion and I am sure welcomes comments of others.

Yes, the lyrics are "Kanna thalli shubha vadane, nee anna dayaku paathrudane" I am not criticizing TM Krishna, he is a very great , and talented singer, but occasionally, singers do make some minor mistakes in pronunciation, and enunciation, that is all !!!
Yes, a couple of times TMK sings it as Kanna thandr but switches to the right kanna thalli soon. But overall the Bhairavi is sumptuous! But makes one wish that the Bhairavi lasted an hour rather than just 20 min incl tani.

One of the finest Carnatic musicians his knowledge and singing is a pleasure to listen to. A product of YACM (YOUTH ASSOCIATION OF CLASSICAL MUSIC, CHENNAI which I was clsely associated with) KRISHNA and several other singers, both male and female, have kept the Canratic music flag flying really high. By the way I wonder what happened to the YACM. I wish some of the successful youngsters would revive the YACM to ensure more youngsters take to singing classical music and unsure its continuity. P. I'm South African when my late father wanted to teach me Telegu. Tamil I didn't have the time .I'm now 54 yrs old was brought up listening to M S Subbalakshmi ,D K Pattamal . JON Higgins etc .
