    I am a great Prokofiev lover from the time there was hardly any record anywhere in the world of Prokofiev.
    My first record was of the 2nd piano concerto in 1971 of John Browning and since then I was addicted, bought everything and played Prokofiev myself.
    Every artist has something to add even if it isn't your favorite interpretation, some are born to interpret Prokofiev like Richter, Rostropovich and Rozhdestvensky who were good friends.
    This one is my favorite and I have most of them all ... for deep emotions it can't get much better.
    Besides this one of the 6th sonata my favorite is the one of Van Cliburn.

    Reading some of the comments below, some are absolute rubbish! Music is a very subjective thing, and what may be liked by one person is not always liked by another. However, this is great music and a very creditable performance and interpretation by a very young Mr Rashkovskiy. Give the man a bit of credit folk, and shame on those people who write silly comments and criticisms as seen below!

    I like it fine, but I think some people may object to the tight, slower, dainty, even dynamic way he plays passages which are perceived as mechanical. People think Richter is the only interpretation.
    Anyway, not a whole lot of people who can play this at all, so I'm happy there's a performance of it that's not getting taken down for copyright infringement.

    It's very nicely played. I particularly enjoy his interpretation of the first two movements. However for me the fourth movement, while coherent with the interpretation of the other movements, sound less varied than other peoples interpretation in terms of dynamics and speed. I love it still but I prefer a more energetic and chaotic last movement.

    Aghh... why don't they show the hands more? I remember I liked this performance when I heard it online during the Competition and wanted to check how he played a couple of spots. In those spots... the only thing I could see was his face.

    Those fingers lack the power needed for this sonata.

    Sounds like Chopin.. All that ritenuto.. and stuff... This is a War sonata!!!!! You know- many dead people, destroyed cities, winter, cold.. My god... The worst thing is infect that this is recording from competition.. Play Chopin and those kind of salon stuff.. This is something little bit different.. Nice effort, but WRONG PLACE!!!!

    Yes, he's a great pianist.. no doubts.. but this is not a great interpretation :\

    • @herveverbaert254
      @herveverbaert254 ปีที่แล้ว

      it's a nice interpretation, not the greatest and the more spectacular, but I like it, even he hasn't got the power of other great interpreters (such as Yefim Bronfman, Vladimir Ovchinikov, Vladimir Feltsman, Yakov Kassman...) of this sonata!!!

      @herveverbaert254 ปีที่แล้ว

      c'est propre et c'est brillant, il prend son temps et respire bien, on s'en fiche qu'il la joue en 30 minutes plutôt qu'en 26/27 habituelles!!!!!!!!

      what's exactly Prokofiev's style? Nobody knows! Listen to prokofiev's interpretations by Richter or by Yefim Bronfman, two genius and great prokofiev's servants with very different style and mood...
