This was my first Monster Hunter game and I absolutely loved it, really enjoyed Rise too.
Can't wait for Wilds
My first was rise. Do you recommend Worlds as well? I heard that world is little slow?

I myself started with Freedom Unite, but World was such an amazing game for the series as an entry for new players :)
This is the one game I’ve played that made me realize that sometimes the safest place in the fight is directly next to the boss
Half the fight is just learning where the "Safe" areas are.
@@rwberger6 the other half is finding out “when is it my turn to attack?”😭🙏

this game requires somethings most streamers don't have: patients and commitment.
And actual skill
tbf i dont think a lot of people would be getting patients
@@kleefirestar The game isn't hard, its just very trivial =a guy that has 1k+ hours in every monster hunter since 3U
When I bought the game I thought it was easy. That was because I got some overpowered armor with buying it. I was a MH noob so I had no idea
@@Kurukururin12 Maybe if they were taken to the hospital, there would be plenty of patients.
You guys should know that the word you wanted to use was - 'patience'
imo, biggest issue for newbies is picking a weapon that suits you and most pick wrong b/c they want to wield the big swords.
Just started playing lastnight.... started with dual sword and loving it so far.
@@rbtsavage man i used to play on the ps4 a long time ago and i have to say, dual blades are very fun to use, learn how to setup your jump attack on long creatures and you can do some insane damage
I started with heavy bowgun, had no idea what I was doing and ended up maining the greatsword after repeatedly running out of ammo.
@@parmesankilla690 ammo is keeping me from trying out the bow weapons. I normally enjoy being ranged but im too old and grumpy now to have manage those resources too.
@@rbtsavage There's plain old Bow, where you do stamina management instead of ammo for damage. Bow has coatings, but you don't need to really use them that much.
I know Asmon says this about everygame BUT... seeing him play Monster Hunter would be pretty cool
oh hello there DarkHero
he wont
Yes plz :,D I want to see it xD
so he can spam the same attack, refuse to learn and read and then rq the game? true lol
he will just refuse to understand gearing and try to bruteforce monsters with shitty weapons and quit within 2-3 hours

@@williampearce5757 Regular Diablos wasn't too bad for me it's the damn black Diablos with it's spamming charges that made me rage a few times 🤣
@williampearce5757 I quit playing when Behemoth came. I was doing those bounties for the those end game monsters, like the fire lions and the undead one, I completely forgot their names lol. Bringing back memories, I might buy it again

I had the best time of my life playing this Game with a friend. Nothing beats the random and absolutly hilarous moments you will encounter in this Masterpiece.
I first thought I wouldn't like Monster Hunter. After a friend recommended me the game so we can play together, I dumped over 1000 hours in. I met many new people through discord by helping them beating mostly Alatreon and Fatalis. I'm so happy and thankful that I didn't turn that recommendation down xD
big problem with the game was that you needed to defeat the monster solo without your friend but after you beat it once you could farm it with your friend. It was extremely lame game design alltho otherwise the game was great. Maybe after 5 years they have fixed that.
@@Jebu911 actually you just need to see the "cinematic" where the monster is presented to you, after that your friend can instantly join. Still lame tho
@@Jebu911 i dont remember that ever being the case as soon as you were in you could flag for team mates to join.
Me too.1200 hours late at it was awesome.
As a MHW player. Yes it is rage inducing, but when you win a fight, it’s amazing. The whole series is about planning for every hunt. What weapon, gear, and items to bring. But that victory sound is amazing. Word to the wise, remember to eat first.
As a GS main their is no plan only Bonk
Me, a fellow GS main, agree completely@@kocashima
@@kocashima As a Hammer user, that is cultural appropriation
Until you become obsessed with getting the BiS gear and farm the hardest bosses over a thousand times (not an exaggeration) just to get one final gem that has a .02% chance to drop and by the time you get it you just feel empty inside. At that point the ending sound is just like the alarm on your phone because so many finished hunts end in getting geology gem.
It's rage inducing because every time I try to kill the Rathalos a Rathian comes to double team me.
This game is the most value I have ever gotten out of a game. Finishing the story legit feels like that should be all the game has, then its like, BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE. and then you finish HR stuff and then WAIT THERES MORE. Then there is literally a whole nother games worth of content in the expansion and then THERES LITERALLY MORE. I have 200 hours and still see content that I havent done like fatalis and the behemoth.
Isn't the content the exact same gameplay loop each time you enter the stage tho?
@SeeIie depending on what you define loop, you'll go into an area farm resources for gear n consumables and then fight a monster, but every monster is different. The content is the large amount of knowledge you learn whenever you fight a monster. Versing the same monster with 10 fights worth of experience compared to 50 is a completely different experience. You genuinely have a visual and mental feedback of how much better a monster hunter you've become ( and I think that's why, there's still a large amount of player base still playing it 7 years after it's release)
i have done basically 95-98% of the content the game has, took me a bit over 314 hours. but that 2-5% would be another 40h hours if i really wanted to do it.
200 hours? Those are rookie numbers. You gotta pump those up.
You should try MHGU for the most content in ANY game
Monster Hunter is just like Dark Souls, you suck for a while until you understand how the game works, and then it skyrockets into being one of the best games ever
I played the first monster hunter game and when I played dark souls 1 it felt right
sounds like an excuse for bad game design
@@Always.SmarterHorrible, in fact! Why would they make us learn how to play????????????
@@SherlockPies you have to learn any game so i wouldn't say that's the problem.
@@Always.Smarter What exactly is the problem then?
Hearing that these missions are like 20-30 minutes was a relief. In MH Freedom Unite you could go almost a full hour fighting a boss just to die at the end and see it limp away😂
When you progress, and especially at the guild hall, most of the stronger bosses easily take up more than 40 minutes to fight, even with a friend. Despite that though, there was a charm to the long excursions, and the mechanic where all the monsters fight you and never each other. Beautiful franchise!
Ugh Plesioths were just swimming in the distance for 40 minutes of the 60 you had to kill them!
Tbf this is Dunkey being bad
@@Edujs23 i got mad watching this because it's almost like him trying too hard to make the game look like idk a bullshit difficult game lol cringe asf

Monster Hunter is an amazing game. I had a ton of enjoyment from it. It does have a decent level of difficulty. The key is learning which weapon suits you best and learning each monsters pattern.

Monster Hunter is such a fun series. You really need to take a hot minute near the start to just try and feel out all the weapon types in the training area though. They're basically like completely different classes so it has a dramatic effect on your playstyle. Like Dual blades isn't just Sword and Shield with the shield replaced by another sword, they're completely different weapons with not only different movesets but even totally different mechanics and resources to how they work.

If you get it including the iceborne dlc, i highly recommend not using the special armor and weapons you get from the start. Those are meant to get you through the early game fast, but its more meant for people that are already experienced and want to get to the dlc content quickly. For a new player, its a crutch that will ultimately hinder you.
MHW is a goddamn experience, addicting as hell.
most important note about this game: do not play this like dark souls. you have around 60% of the i frames compared to a dark souls dodge. if youre not an expert Monster hunter player, you wont get the dodge (consistently). (or just use an armor skill that raises i frames i guess)
World was my first MH game and I loved it. Little grindy for the + encounters (forget what they call them), but the crafting is pretty cool. Really looking forward to Wilds.
Had a blast playing this with a friend. I can so relate on the climbing up and down part on vines and just watching 2 monster fight it out whilr cooking meat.
He should watch the speed runs of team dark side to see what you can do when you know the monsters move set and how to perfectly kill it
That seems so fun
and then he'll be able to see, that it isn't janky at all 🤣
he´s seen some speed run tactivs before, but honestly those kind of things make the game look really bad for new players, since it makes the game look really easy to cheese, they dont know the struggle you can have fighting these monsters so the game just looks easy and kinda lame when you can just oneshot stuff or perma stun it with 1 attack spam etc
@ I’m pretty sure asmon can tell that speed runs are meant to make the game look easy, he’s seen elden ring and other DS speed runs of bosses and he knows that it takes a lot of time to make the game look that easy
Speed runs are lame, most of them are just stunlocks until it dies with some 1 HP Heroics Adrenaline crit build

Man I remember the beta for this game. First monster hunter I ever played. I still play the series and still play world.
3 things: you can use the environment to your advantage, when they fall asleep during the fight it means they're weak, unless it's an elder dragon you can capture it by setting a trap and use tranq bombs

@@gwynbleidd8723 no thanks. Lets say i only wanted to ask for help when i was truly desperate and while often it was fun with others, it just as often backfired.
@@firmak2 if you play with randoms, I meant to play with a friend, doing all the adventure while being on Discord, theorycrafting etc
@@gwynbleidd8723 the idea is fine and i wanted to do it but then id argue the games biggest flaws surface. You cant join a friend if he hasnt watched the cutscene, the cutscenes are unskippable, you cant join a friend on a mission unless you have already beaten said mission, you cant see your friend in the hub area unless you are in the community hub, you cant see your friend on free roam unless you specifically join his or they join yours, sharing the cart pool for monsters just exponentially sucks more the more players you have. If the new game changes all that and keeps all the good then i think the game would turn from subjectively one of the best games ever made to objectively one of the best games ever made. Other problems are nitpicks and subjective opinion but the ones i mentioned arent good in anyones book.
It’s an amazing game, each time you beat a monster for the first time it feels incredibly satisfying. And Nergigante is SO HARD.

I love this game so much. You can get absolutely stomped by a monster, learn its moves and mannerisms, then finally beat the everloving shit out of it.
It's a lot like Souls in a way with the very deliberate movement, but much more brawling around a zone for extended periods. And it still looks great!
Playing Monster Hunter on the PSP over a decade ago, really did translate to my love for the souls series. Not enough games make slow and deliberate combat feel good.
The thing is souls games got there formula from monster hunter the game predates dark souls the first monster hunter game was made in 2002

MHW what an amazing game. Can't wait for the next one.
its a game that feels like your actually hunting monsters instead of just an easy fight. you learn the weakpoints on the monster, and its habits, use the environment and your items. This games damage calculation is extremely unique thanks to motion value. If you swing your weapon as the monsters head is moving toward you it acts like a counter in boxing and deals extra stun.
"i just wana see the numbers"...is exactly the deal breaker for me with POE1
im so glad finding this video after he completed it.. WAY TO GO ASMON
If Dunkey actually tried during this video Asmon's reaction would be much different.
Dunkey did try.
You don't consistently fail spectacularly by accident, almost all of those failures were by design. He's a professional at making even the best games look like ass.
Absolutely love this game. The more you learn and the further you get into it, the better it gets. Many different playstyles.
This makes me even more excited for wilds
After so many deathes, he finally learns to running dodge
As a long time fan of Monster Hunter who has been watching Asmongold for years, I am so excited to see him finally try MHWorld!
Agreed. He loves making builds and this is right up his alley. Once he finds his fight style and masters it I bet he will be hooked. For me though IG all the way.
Don't count on it lol
@@Marswickwhy do you have to be negative man
@@iambravvo he's gonna be frustrated unless he properly sits through and learn a weapon.
I doubt he will play it for long tho, even more with Greatsword.
It would be really cool to see him doing everything.
Asmonbald’s new years resolution is going to take til 2035 lmfao
Can't wait to watch it! Asmon you're going to love this game and the impact of the attacks. Especialy the Great Sword power.
It really does make you learn strategies and use your stickers. You need traps. You need potions. You gotta know the attacks, know you're own timing compared to theirs, and even know which button sequences put you in which positions. I think you'd dig it, Asmon, once you get past the frustration of learning.
One of the only games ive ever played where the game play gets better as you keep playing and learn how the weapons work and know the monsters movements inside and out. Its so easy to get addicted lol
Monster Hunter World is a great game and I was able to play through Iceborne alone which, even when I played it alone, it was fun overall--the content that isn't about combat is nice too.
However, they really need to fix their sucky multiplayer--it's way too complex when you're first trying to figure out how to play with your friends, and when you finally figure out how to, it's limited in so many ways. I don't know if they've updated it over the few years I've been gone, but back when I played it was very annoying to deal with and one of my friends (my only friend who would try the game) gave up because of it :P
good thing you played it alone. I feel like Monster Hunter games are way more fun solo. You control the pace, can calculate everything. While online, it's more of a Lets Grind together As It Might Be Fun xD
Zack: "'You had me at damage numbers"
oh man i might actually have to tune in to twitch for this!
The fact that you have never seen one of the greatest franchises of all time is amazing to me and I am here for it
To be fair, most people in general never heard or cared about this series until it had pretty graphics with World.
The community changed overnight when this one came out.
@@FaolanHart world is theyr best selling monster hunter for a reason. Dont mix graphics with art style. Yes world looks great on a technical level but shit like the amount of foliage, nature, animations, interactions, the colors (go back and compare all previous MH games including the more colorful ones and they still would look drab compared to world). If it had focused less on dreagon types and had more other types like bug monsters then overall i think people would agree its the best one. And had monster hunter changed some of (in my oppinion) terrible decisions, it would be on a lot more people top games of all time. ( it is on mine but it would be higher)
@@firmak2 Very well, people randomly started to be interested in World despite never caring about any of the others because it was the first to have a very generic Western approved "art style".......though most will just say graphics because we all know what I'm talking about.
Duller colours, detailed textures, lots of brown & grey. Perceived realism basically.
Don't get me wrong, I love World, its one of my favourite in the series. Just below 4U & GenU.
I loved all the quality of life changes, the open worlds, the endemic life that you could collect & seeing some of my favourite monsters in more detail than ever before. It was a breath of fresh air in many ways.....outside of the microtransactions that ended up ruining the series imo. But thats another topic.
Before the Clutch Claw was added I called it once of the closest to perfect games I've ever played.
But don't fool yourself. Graphics/"art style" are why people took notice for a change. Because it looked pretty.
That & being on "relevant" systems. Systems that sell themselves on graphics.
Most gamers are vapid. You show them something pretty & they don't care about anything else.
Its why consoles sell themselves on these things, even at the detriment of performance.
Because that really is what sells to the majority.
@@FaolanHart Tbf I think you're also underselling a couple things here. Monster Hunter had not been on console since Tri, which was...a game. The first two were hated, and frankly so long ago, that many people that expressed interest in World weren't even really capable of playing MH when it was on console.
3Ds was a mixed bag console. Many people loved it, many people trashed it. That alongside the lack of marketing for MH did not help 4U and G. In fact, I believe P3rd was the best-selling title before World.
Then you got the real doozy here - what was Capcom even putting out? Megaman and DMC had not seen a game in forever - outside of remasters and SEs, it was nearly a decade. Resident Evil had just come out with 7, which at the time lacked traction because people were fed up after RE5 and 6. So they got MH out there on a big stadium, to a big audience, from a big company whose recent big games were RE and unironically another Monhun game for a relatively starved yet popular Switch Console. There were just so many things playing into it.
@@FaolanHart it always had pretty graphics, it just wasn't marketed very well in the West.
Watching Asmongold stress his processor to find reasons to not play one of the greatest series ever made always gets a laugh from me.
And not only that but some monsters change areas constantly so when you finally made to the monster it will change areas to make it last longer
800 hours in world. And that was before icebourne.
